Is it possible to pick up stuff from a previous house when Sims have moved out?

Two of my families have moved in The Sims 3. The Ford Family have moved out. They left some of their stuff behind. Is it possible to pick up some of the stuff from their previous house.

Not really, I think. Other than having them move back in and then out again and remembering to tick the option 'pack furniture' instead of selling it.

I agree with this. According to my information, it is not possible to get furniture back if the Sims have already moved out. You could, as already mentioned, let them move in again at the highest and then take the furniture with you when you move out.
