The story of this creation: I was getting my hair done, and reading, wonder of wonders, a current magazine - Better Homes and Gardens. I chuckled to myself as I looked at some of the furniture they had used, realising that I have some of the exact same items in sims. The decor and garden in this house are inspired by some of the creations show-cased in the magazine (which I went out and bought after my hair was done lol).

I had set out to build a starter home, and the floor plan is one which I regularly use for a starter home, and easily adaptable. However, my creative streak took over, and well, it is no longer in the price range for a starter home.

On the La Maison de Plage, I'm guessing that I need to place a lot using the World Editor?  Did it automatically make the steep cliff side for you or did you do that when building the house?  It's beautiful, by the way.  I love the soft colors and natural light.

Part of the slope was there - I deliberately chose that spot for the slope, and the rest formed up as I built on it. You do indeed need to place the lot with the world editor. I find the 'soften terrain' tool very useful once it's placed to get it to sit right.

Chuckles your builds are totally awesome.  I love your use of color, which is usually a problem for me.  I tend to be monochromatic.  You've used soft pastels and vibrant modern black/red/white in different houses to really good effect.  If I HAD to pick a favorite it would be the Amaranth mostly because of the color palette.  I could argue myself around that for each of the builds because really, I love them all.  Well done!

I did take a little inspiration from Leto's ALU, in that it is future-based, and upgraded scientifically, but this is completely my own build and own recolours to match the Future Shock store items. As a bit of a sci-fi fan myself, this was one in works for a while anyway Once again it was supposed to be a starter unit... but teleporters are not cheap, even once fully depreciated they are $9k! If you already have a lot of store stuff this build is for you ! If not, then the store-free version is in the making..

Thankyou everyone for the lovely comments I have so much fun creating them, and it really is the icing on the cake to see everyone enjoy them.

I look forward to the next building contest to give me ideas for what to build! Even though I grumble to myself about not having my store content, or some in-game content, (I really wanted to put the zodiac animals collection in Zenadu - I have a sim custom made for decorating purposes) I think I enjoy the challenge of finding something that fits, and making it fit the budget.

Chuckles, I moved your tread in this section since even if you upload only lots, it is still not following the scheme everyone else does - one lot = one tread. Here many members have similar treads where their creations are found in one place, they can announce new one etc. I hope your download links are not messed up with this movement, and I'm sorry if they are.
Also, since you post many links for store items, take a look at this tread to make them look nice and neat, which we are encouraging here.
If you need help with it, feel free to ask for it.

Do you mean you would prefer them to be embedded? I had a read, and I didn't know how to do that before. It's not much more difficult that what I'm already doing, so I'll give it a go I was also considering laying out the contents so that each house has basic info like number of bedrooms, price etc, and an embedded link to the post.

I'd like to learn your way  how to make the proper car parking place like that. It's truly amazing!
Also I've never made that kind of idea to make the kitchen like that. I always wanted to let my sim use the chop board on the dining counter!  This idea is very creative!! I got impressed!!   Also I love your living room! Thank you.

In the rock and stone section of floors, there are some floors that look like marble, with lines. The different parts can be recoloured. If you change the big part to a masonry pattern that looks like tar/gravel, and then change the stripe on the side to be yellow, it makes the lines for the carpark. Do the same for the floor that has the diamond on it. Lots of them together make the x's. The pedestrian section is just the very wide stripe pattern in the geometric patterns. If you look it the Banzai Lounge from Night Life, they have the arrows on the floor there. I recoloured those to have the same texture as the rest. The raised section down the middle and between the entry/exit is platform. The pillars are just 1x1 wall sections. There are also tutorials on how to make a sunken garage - that is how I made the entry/exit go down. I hope this helps

Actually I'm still waiting for someone to take up my request to do a disabled sign pattern. That way I can put it on the two wide spaces at the end closest to the elevator Then it will be truly life-like.

It was my pleasure You directed me to the right place so I could find out how to do it To start with it wasn't as important, but I knew I was going to need it as the number of uploads grew. I didn't know how originally, so your post came just the right time!

The last one was inspired as I searched for ways to add custom content to my game, without actually using custom content in my uploads (I was browsing one of the major the CC sites and found myself really wanting a lot of their paintings. I'm thinking that if I photograph those though, that I will need to credit them - it wouldn't be fair not to, because it's almost like stealing them). And because I had a VERY tight budget after all the basics were in place, photos were perfect. After the first photo of the day, they are all worth next to nothing, but look amazing.

My biggest building tip would be: Wallpapers and patterns are your friend - use them creatively!

Thankyou to everyone for the lovely comments so far. Just an update, since it's been a while since I added anything new:

I've recently found a bit more motivation to work on my world in CAW. I've added the new spawners (although anyone working with CAW will find that they have to be added in-game on lots - unless you want to mess with package editors - and I do not), the theatre and several new houses. I've had to make just one of the lots 35x35 (all the rest remain 15x15) because unfortunately horses don't like stairs, so I couldn't make a shell for the equestrian centre. I've modified some of my current builds to add to the world - among them 'Your Quarters, Dr Rush', Pally's Modern Mini/Small Modern Townhouse, and Zenadu - which is now Mini Zen (the only lot I have really managed to name).

In a few days when I export my next version of the world for play testing, I will upload some preview images here and to the showboat thread.

Since I'm really terrible at naming things, I'm going to ask for some help with naming my lots, and would also love to hear ideas for a name for my world (I have a couple in mind).

Childhood's End

I really only threw this tiny world together in one day. I was inspired by a world in Stargate Atlantis - the episode is called Childhood's End. The people of this world only live to the age of 25. If you were to play this world with mainly children, you would play with testingcheats on so that you could summon NPCs as needed, and populate the world with families without adults. If you find you are having too many adult NPCs spawn, you can age them up til Grimmie comes.

I have only created one type of tree-house and placed multiple copies over the island - I'll leave it up to others' creativity to branch out (sorry, couldn't help it) and make different types.

For those of you tired of sims making tonnes and tonnes of money, all that can change with this story. Only the children can make the money in this world - be it selling items they have made or cake stalls, it will be much slower than playing adults with careers.

All the spawners except the fresh water fish, seeds (just a special 4 spawner) and the pets spawners have been added - including the WA spawners because children can't travel on their own. I haven't included plants or seeds because children can't garden. If you choose to allow teenagers to garden, you can always add the plants yourself from buy debug.

To create and save a family without adults:

Create a family in CAH - you must have at least 1 adult
Move the family into a house and play
Pause
Turn testingcheats on
Shift+click the adult and select Edit in create a sim
Change the age of the adult to a child or teenager
Return to game
Go to Edit town
Evict the family without the house
Click the family on the left-hand side of the screen and choose save to library

You now have a family without adults which you can use to start populating the world Included below is a sample family consisting of 1 female toddler, 1 male child and 1 female teen.

Recommended settings:
Life span: Epic
Baby - 7 days
Toddler - 14 days
Child - 140 days
Teen - 14 days (longer may be necessary for extended play as you need at least a teenager to care for babies and toddlers your adults have/adopt before they die)
Young Adult 2 days
Adult - 2 days
Elder - 2 days

I think my favorite upload is the Childhood's End world. I really like the idea of playing as children only, and seeing what happens. Life is so simple - no romance, hardly any drama... But then again - you have to work and you're only in grade school. - And by work, of course I mean gather/make things.

A Gem of A Victorian

As the name suggests, this house was supposed to be for the contest, but I never got around to finishing it. Now I am having a cleaning up and project finishing week, here it is:

Description:  This lovely home features a traditional Victorian exterior, and is decorated in the Victorian style througout.
