Yep, she has his hair color and eye color (I was so hoping she would inherit Tasha's blue eyes) and her skin tone is somewhere between Tasha and Danny.

It might be a bit depressing, but that depends on the person. The tears are worth it.

It has a lot of really sad and parts, but it's written so well you don't really care. There are a lot of happy and funny parts too, so it's not all tears.

Three Birthdays and a Funeral

It's been a time of transition around here of late. Of course Danny and I are so blessed to have Pearl and a loving extended family in which to raise her. She never wants for anything, and usually we are lined up two or three deep to attend to her every want and need. In those rare moments when she is left to play alone she always finds something to amuse herself.

Isn't she just a little angel?!

Danny's career is coming along wonderfully - he has almost earned his final promotion! Once a week he hold clinic down at the cemetery. I don't understand why he goes there when he works at a state of the art hospital and research facility. He just winks and tells me it's so he can bury his mistakes. I sure hope he's kidding!

'Dr. Fae, my husband says I have dragon breath. Is there anything you can do to help me?'
'Let me just scan you with this big, scary piece of equipment. Good news, you don't have dragon breath but you do have an advanced case of llama tail. Take two aspirin and call me in the morning if you don't feel better.'

'Here, take this pill and you'll feel like a new man.'
'But, but, I feel fine...really...I just came here to put flowers on my dog's grave.'
'Nonsense, now bottoms up!'
'URP...next time I really need to check the paper before I decide to visit Chester...'

Lest you think our family is the stuff sitcoms are made of, I have some sad news to pass along. I wouldn't go so far as to call it tragic, because the family members involved lived long and happy lives. But for those of us left behind it feels like they passed too soon.

First we lost my dear father-in-law.

Before we had a chance to recover from that loss, it was time to bid farewell to Mr. Pickles.

Needless to say, Danny and I decided against a party when our birthdays rolled around since everyone was still mourning our recent losses. Fortunately we had our little Pearl to help us through this bleak time. There is nothing like the innocence of a child when the world seems to be falling in around you.

Once things started to return to normal a debate sprung up between Meg, Raven, and Callie as to what kind of pet we should adopt since the house was feeling particularly somber without Mr. Pickles' antics. Meg favored a horse, Raven a cat, and Callie a dog. You should have heard the arguments that ensued. Personally I think it was just an excuse for Meg and Raven to start brawling again. In the end Raven won out and that's how Nova came to live with us.

Before I go I'll leave you with one more piece of happy news...Pearl celebrated her birthday! She is as adorable as ever, don't you think?!

She added angler to her traits. Now she has the whole weekend to fish before school starts on Monday.
