Goodness those are gnomes? I think I am playing this game way wrong. Because I am missing out on all the Gnome excitement. I think I have a gnome in my inventory but I don't think it moves. At least I don't think it did. I always figured it was just the garden statue. Maybe I'll put it out in the garden and see what happens.

Great pic!

The Sims Wiki has a picture of each type of gnome here (scroll down the page for individual pics). This will help you identify yours. Be patient. Some gnomes take sim days or weeks to start moving around, but it's worth the wait!

I ended up with two of the Gnomes of Invention and the Troglodyte, also. When I got the first gnome, I tossed it in the shack my sim was living in at the time. Later, when I was about to detonate a pile of junk from the junkyard, I almost fell out of my chair - the gnome had moved out by the junk!

A pleasant surprise, and a very cool addition to the game.

Is there a section on Gnomology in the guide that I just didn't see? I did a search and checked Carl's site map and didn't see anything.

Thanks I'll have to check that out I guess.

Sounds very cool. You should send a pic. If not in the forum PM it to me if you prefer.

If only sculptors could cut gnomes from gems.. :P Found a lot of different gnomes at the pawn shop and by using rabbit hole adventures (such as the time machine).

So far the only gnomes I have is the vampire gnome. She is kinda cute in a wierd gnomey witch sort of way. Now they are like everywhere. Are they stealing my teddy bears? Are they turning the bears into more gnomes? And I think I saw one float. But I'm not catching them move. :(  I now have them in each of the toddlers' inventory so they can sleep with them. I havent gotten any others. Maybe because I don't have WA?

Gnomes don't move like sims do, they change position at most once a day. First you have to take the gnome out of inventory and place it on the ground. Sometime during the night it may poof and show up somewhere else on your property, often in a different pose. From your perspective, when the sun comes up, some or all the gnomes will be in different places, doing different things.

The vampire gnome will turn teddy bears into vampire gnomes. There is no "turning". The bear goes poof and a new vampire gnome appears. I think Saltypaws posted a video of the change (sorry if I said the wrong member name). A bear is worth $50 but a gnome is worth $1000, so it's not a bad deal.

There's a regular gnome from the vanilla base game and some from Ambitions, too.  You can get gnomes from fishing and sending gems to be cut.  Sometimes the gem turns out to be a gnome and they send it to you in the mail.

Do you have plasma fruit plants on your lot?  I believe that attracts the vampire gnomes.  Also, once you have one of these gnomes on the lot, any teddy bears not in your sim's inventory are likely to be turned into vampire gnomes.

I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that you need at least three plasma plants in your garden to have the vampire gnome show up. Although I like having them, because if/when they do show up, I stock up on teddy bears - a random chance of turning $50 into $1000 is pretty nice, even if it is random when it happens.

Two little questions:

I know that the gnome from France is named Little Leon and the one from China Master Manchu.

But what about the Inventing, Sculpting and Vampire whats their names??

And I have seen The Sculpting Gnome in two Shapes now, one made of Stone, One of tree, can he be sculpted in other forms??

I've never seen a wooden Sculpting Gnome! Do you have a screenshot you can share with us?

I had a lot of fun with the Laundry bear, for me he seemed to be the easiest to acquire because a nectar making athlete spins their clothes off a lot.  You seem to get the bear after you get the clean sheets moodlet and do a batch of laundry.  I put a mummy bear in the yard and all the laundry bears in the yard in a circle.  The bears seem to poof into a new position at 3 am Sim time in my games, and they show me things that need repair or money tree seeds or that I need to have fun.  When I loaded Late Night I found a Vampire gnome in the house behind the bar.  The position is 4 spaces from the plasma fruit outside in the garden.  My gardener hasn't changed and will probably not become a vampire, but I haven't played with the gnome because I didn't know for sure that it was the fruit that attracted it.

But i found this, its a post on a blog about a sculpting gnome in clay
http://simgnome.wordpress.com/2010/07/01/magical-gnome-of-sculpting/

Im not sure if its against the rules to link to other sites, if so please remove the link. But im quite surprised to see the gnome in other than stone. And just wanted to prove me research.

I don't know if anyone else has had this happen before, but one time when my sim was gardening (belive this was the Grim Reaper Skill Challenge) and since you can get things from buydebug after maxing a skill and I had gotten some gnomes. My sim was gardening and the gnomes trapped her in the garden! I had to move them manually, which I usually never do, to let her out!

They seem to take special pleasure in sitting in front of doorways, showers, toilets, etc. Usually somewhere in the path of your Sims.  :P ;)

I found one vampire gnome when I had plasma fruit plants growing. But now I have none and I've found three more. And I feel silly saying it, but I also can't find the teddy bears I bought at all.
