You can also use a screenshot and make it a memory so that your sim can reflect on it. Whatever emotion you (the player) gives the memory will invoke that moodlet on your sim. Accessed through the camera icon, top left of screen in game. First you view screenshots, then chose to make one a memory, then use fall-down menu on memory to pick the emotion.
Then when live mode you can click on the camera and chose which memory your sim is to reflect on and it adds to their action cue.
It's a really good tip as it takes your sim seconds to reflect on it and gives a good lasting moodlet, 4 hours I think (not in game to check at moment but I'm pretty sure it lasts 4 hours).

I noticed that you mention focused paintings( good, excellent and masterpiece) but from my observations you cannot get past good and they are not really paintings. Although you must be focused to start a mathematical equation on the easel you increase logic while you work on it ( and not painting skill). Also my sim got only good +4 at logic lvl 1 and at logic lvl 10 and I painted dozens ( painting skill ranging from 1 to 10, but as I said it does not seem to matter) .Only thing that differs is the looks of the final product ( lvl 1-4 logic, lvl 5-8 logic and an ugly one for lvl 9-10 logic).

Wow that is just amazing I didn't realize that even existed. I may have to hop in my game quick and play with this and add in the top post some kind of guide since it applies to all emotions.

My painter sim paints masterpiece emotion paintings at will and they are all +9. Unlocks once you reach level 10 painting

Wow that is just amazing I didn't realize that even existed. I may have to hop in my game quick and play with this and add in the top post some kind of guide since it applies to all emotions.

I was hoping you'd do that, I'm not very good at explaining how to do things in game but I enjoy exploring things to learn new things  :)

My painter sim paints masterpiece emotion paintings at will and they are all +9. Unlocks once you reach level 10 painting

My sim too, at will unlocked also with expressionistic trait from master painter aspiration(flirty, sad, angry, playful,confident) but focus does not enter this category. CAn you really paint a focused painting at will ? Have you really painted a focused masterpiece  ?

Ahh, I see what you mean, nope, can't say I've painted a focused masterpiece. For some reason I thought you were talking about confident.

Btw, just want to clarify: +9 gives +2 moodlet, any lower will give +1. So a Masterpiece Confident painting +9 will give Confident+2, while an Excellent Playful painting+6 gives Playful+1, and lastly a Good Mathematical Diagram+4 gives Focused+1. Same applies to all mood paintings.

So far the following skills can make mood items when they are in that certain mood, although not all mood has mood items:
-Painting - mood paintings (the most obvious one)
-Cooking - mood food
-Mixology - mood drinks
-Gardening - mood bonsai
-writing - mood books

You can also reduce Playful by Calming yourself down in a mirror.

If you choose to Schmooze with boss while working there is a chance you might come home feel embarassed.

While embarassed, you can click on bed to Hide from the World, will reduce embarassed duration.
