Aren't wedding parties fun :P at least you were still able to get through your first several days smoothly and get a free day. Ojo seems to be doing really well, and it was great to see unofficial-uncle Akira's kids! I hope I'll get to see a bit more of how Ojo's kids look in the next part, I'm curious who they look like.

Chapter 6 -- The Second 10 Points and Free Day

The next day would be Ojo's day off, and he was trying to impart some advice to Lewis before his son went to bed.

In the middle of his explanation about collections and portraits, Ojo's phone rang. It was Johnny, telling him there was a dance party at the Chalet.
"It's late, Dad," Ojo started to say, but then he realized how much time had elapsed since his father became an elder, and he recollected how often parties seemed to have a fatal effect. "I'll be right there," he said.

"I'm so glad you're still alive," he said, giving Johnny a hug.
"Why wouldn't I be?" said Johnny.
"Never mind," said Ojo. "Let's get you home, okay?"
Johnny took a nap as soon as he got home, and Ojo settled down to play the keyboard. After raising his skill a level and also becoming good friends with Darling, Ojo began to feel rather tired. He lay down for a nap, but Johnny soon woke him up.
"You're not supposed to sleep here," he scolded.
"But Dad, this is my old bed. No one else uses it," Ojo objected.
"I know why you're hanging around," said Johnny. "You're waiting to see me die."
"Well, yes," said Ojo. "I want to be able to bury you in the family cemetery."
"Over my dead body," said Johnny, and Ojo was forced to leave.
He went to bed when he got home, taking time only to invite his dad to come over.  A few hours later, Ojo heard the music that signalled the Grim Reaper's imminent arrival. It wasn't for his father, though, but for Olivia's.

Grim showed up soon. "It's a busy day for me," he said. "Lots of people who started out as young adults are going to be biting the dust."
Sensitivity has never been Grim's strong suit.

But as Grim had predicted, Alice followed soon after Eric.

Ojo woke up when he heard Johnny crying.
"It'll be my turn next, won't it," he sobbed. "I have to go home and say good-bye to Miko."
"Dad, wait!" said Ojo, as Baby Mike began to cry. "Don't you dare take him until after I've fed the baby," he told Grim. "Olivia's at work, and I'm the only grown-up here."

But the Grim Reaper operates on his own schedule. By the time Mike finished eating, Ojo discovered that Johnny had died in San Myshuno, leaving not even an urn behind.

Tired and hungry, Ojo called Jasmine Holiday. "Ordinarily I wouldn't be asking for help," he said, "but I'm exhausted, and I have to be at work in a couple of hours. My Dad and my in-laws just died, so I feel very sad, and I have to look after the baby..."
"Relax," said Jasmine. "That's what I'm here for. Would you rather get more satisfaction points or be able to go longer without sleep?"
"If you could just give me something to keep me awake a few hours longer..."
"Done," said Jasmine.

At work that day, Ojo met the third of the Houser sisters.
"You must be Amber," he said.
"Unh-uh," said Amber. "It could be that I'm Norah or Hazel and I just changed my hair."
"I'm pretty sure you're Amber," said Ojo.
"Ah, but are you certain?"
"Yes," said Ojo, "because the others told me you're a goofball, and trying to pretend you're someone else is what a goofball would do. Also, Norah and Hazel have already had Llama Flu and can't get it again. Ergo, you're Amber."

That afternoon Mike was ejected from the bassinet. He's a vegetarian who will become outgoing and noncommittal.

Sitting down to play chess with Lewis, Ojo felt more relaxed than he had in ages. He was neither tired nor hungry. More important, he'd been promoted to assistant nurse, and Olivia had been promoted, too. It wouldn't be long before they'd all get another free day.

At that point, Olivia let out a blood-curdling scream. She wasn't in labor, Ojo knew that. He dashed downstairs.

"I had it under control," said Olivia.
"Just wanted to make sure," said Ojo. "And I don't understand why you were trying to cook. There's a whole plate full of tofu tacos in the fridge."
"Because not all of us are herbivores," said Olivia.
"Actually, I'm glad Mike's a vegetarian," said Ojo. "A vegetarian diet is much lower in cholesterol and healthier in the long run."
"But I'm an athlete and athletes need meat," said Olivia.
After they'd cleaned up, Ojo made it up to Olivia by serenading her on the piano.

Ojo had a good night's sleep and was able to get up early enough the next day to attempt a mind-concentrating yoga routine.
(Now, straighten your legs out.)
"Ha. I'd like to see you try this, Watcher."
(You never will, Sonny. You never will.)

Things did not go well at work that day. Ojo diagnosed Alexander Goth with Itchy Plumbob and had to perform surgery. The anesthesiologist failed to show up, and since it was Ojo's first surgery, he made a few mistakes. When it was all over, Ojo discovered that Alexander hadn't had Itchy Plumbob at all, but something else that he'd failed to diagnose.

When he got home, Ojo realized that it was his birthday. Quickly he made a sugar-free carob cake and blew out the candles.

It was Olivia's birthday, too, so he cheered for her while she aged up.

He invited Miko over to join the celebration.

But the celebrating didn't last long. It was time for Miko to join Johnny, Eric, and Alice.

Ojo arranged for the three of them to be buried in the grounds of the Zest Family Museum. He just wished that Johnny could have joined them.

Later that day, he told Olivia he was really tired of feeling sad all the time.
"Why don't you try doing a good deed for someone?" she suggested. "That usually perks me right up."

The next day, Ojo and Olivia sat down to watch TV together for a few minutes. Presently Olivia pulled Ojo aside. "Who is that man sitting next to you?" she asked.
"That's Max from work," said Ojo. "He doesn't have anywhere to live, so I invited him to move in with us."
"But --"
"I figured putting a roof over the head of some homeless person would definitely be a good deed," said Ojo.

(And the Watcher figured Max might have some other uses as well.)

Ojo picked up his next 12 points by becoming good friends with Darling Walsh, Mike, and Max Hiatt, by getting promoted twice at work, by gaining another 2 points with the piano, by Olivia getting promoted and Johanna and Lewis coming home with B's, by adding $30,000 to the original household income, and by gaining another 1000 Satisfaction points. He needed 12 points to offset the -2 from the fire.

Wow, losing all four parents in such close succession! Was the Zest family in constant mourning that week?

I'm looking forward to reading about what purpose Mike will serve, although his shot with Elsa gives a pretty good hint.

Personally, I think the Doctor is the hardest career of all in The Sims 4, but Ojo bravely moves through it.
Also, I would love to see how you have the Zest family spend a free day.

Wow, you've been keeping grim busy!  How many moodlet solvers did you need to cope with that?!

@oshizu, All of the parents were original young adults at the beginning of the game, so they all got their notices at the same time except for Miko, who didn't age while she was pregnant. I really tried to have Ojo on hand when Johnny died, but it just didn't happen. With Miko, I just invited her over and she died on the lot.

Max Hiatt(Mike is the third Zest child) will hopefully father a spouse for the 3rd heir. But he also can get promoted as a painter. You're right about the doctor being a tough career. Next free day, Ojo is getting the Slacker reward, so his wrong diagnoses won't count against him.
As for free days -- the last one was pretty dull: the children did homework, Max painted, and Olivia raised her charisma skill.

@simfulicious, no moodlet solvers, unfortunately, as each would been a -1 point. Everyone was crying in bed, etc.

Chapter 7 -- The Third 10 Points and Free Day

Someone expressed an interest in seeing the Zest children close up, so here they are, in order:

Lewis Zest

Johanna Zest

Mike Zest

Lewis was the first to become a teen. He now hates children in addition to being a loner. These are not the traits the Watcher would have picked for an heir, but that's randomization for you.

The slicked-back hair, combined with the very pale skin, made him look a bit creepy, at least in the Watcher's opinion. So she gave him curly hair and hid the gooseberry glare of his eyes behind glasses.

Someone (i.e., Ojo) took a piece of cake before the candles could be put on it for Johanna, so Ojo made her a strawberry cake.

Johanna looks very much like Olivia, except for her nose. She is now an art lover as well as active.

This is a very rare shot of the three children together at the breakfast table. One disadvantage of such a large house is that Sims hardly ever get together except to watch television. But at least it's easy for Lewis to be alone if he wants.

And here is Mike after becoming a teen. Aside from having Olivia's dark hair and eyes and Ojo's pale skin, he doesn't look much like either parent. He is outgoing in addition to being a vegetarian.

Olivia didn't really want to show off her new work clothes, but the Watcher made her anyway.

Ojo spent this time either writing songs or working. Here he's doing a check-up on Amber Houser, who is usually much prettier.

To get promoted from General Practitioner to Medical Specialist, Ojo had to perform 3 surgeries. Only two of them were successful, but the third one did count.

He also had to go out for house calls. This was at the Goths', where Alexander is now the only resident.

Ojo picked up 11 points with help from Johanna (she got an A), Olivia (a promotion), and Max (two promotions). Ojo picked up levels 9 and 10 on the piano for 4 points, was promoted to level 7, and gained 2000 satisfaction points. He needed 11 points because Max decided to watch television instead of going to bed and passed out. Incidentally, Elsa had twin boys, Talon and Dewayne. On the free day, Olivia worked on charisma and Max on painting. The children did homework and tried to get their skills up.

I don't think I could play that house. I've had a couple of parties there and even that was a nightmare. My second gen heir just moved into a big house, too, and I kind of hate it. I'm thinking of just using the first floor.

It's actually not so bad when you're only playing one Sim because you really don't care what the others are doing. But it is annoying at times. I find myself saying things like "Why are you going downstairs to use the bathroom when there's a perfectly good toilet right next to you on the 3rd floor?" Putting a dishwasher in, though, seems to have put an end to everyone going up to the 3rd floor to wash dishes after eating, which is what they used to do.

I love the close-ups of all the kids! They're so interesting!

Kudos to Ojo for moving along in the Doctor career. I think it's hilarious that surgeries count towards promotion requirements even when the diagnosis is completely wrong. :)

Thank you for facial shots of the children--they all share features with their parents yet don't resemble each other at all.
Johanna is especially striking!

Indeed, a three-story house must be incredibly difficult for this challenge. I can still vaguely remember playing that family when TS4 first came out and quickly feeling frustrated with all the vertical movement.
Your dishwasher solution is brilliant!

Ojo's really doing great in his medical career! I hope Max's next "effort" produces a daughter!
And another free day already--you make it look so easy, MarianT!

The Fourth 10 Points and Free Day

Olivia was happy to get out of the llamacorn costume, but still complaining. "I became an athlete to play, not to be a cheerleader," she groused.

Meanwhile, Ojo started working on a new skill -- wellness.
(Music might satisfy the soul, but it doesn't burn any calories.)
"I thought you said there weren't any calories in tofu tacos."
(That's what I thought, but maybe I'm wrong. I know that fish tacos have 0.)

At work, Ojo has been meeting more Sims who might eventually become members of the family. Here are Norah Houser,

Hazel Houser,

Talon Bjergsen (who is going to look like Max),

Dewayne Bjersen (who has his mother's blue eyes).

This time the surgery was a success, even if a couple of organs did get misplaced along the way.
(I don't know why you don't give your patients anesthesia. Aside from relieving their pain, it would keep them from moving around and causing you to grab the wrong thing.)

Even though Ojo is now a medical specialist, he still has to repair the analyzer when it breaks down. Apparently his promotion means that the hospital is no longer able to afford an orderly.

Johanna really is the good kid in the family. She does her homework.

And she's the first Sim without the neat trait that has voluntarily decided to clean the bathtub.

Ojo took a vacation day to avoid getting a promotion the same day that Lewis might come home with a B. He spent some time doing things to boost his satisfaction points, like playing chess at the library.

Later he went over to the museum to view some art.

But eventually Ojo decided it was time to buckle down and work on the last requirement for his Musical Genius aspiration -- mentoring someone for 3 hours. Since none of his children showed the slightest inclination to sit down at the keyboard or piano, Ojo decided to hire a pianist. Isidor wasn't quite what he'd expected, but he was willing to be mentored.

At 5:15 pm on Monday, the free day started. Max Hiatt went over to the Bjergsens' to spend some time with his children.

He spent some time with Elsa, too.
"You just think of me as a baby factory," she muttered.
"I look upon it as staving off your elderhood," said Max.
"Then what are we waiting for?" said Elsa.

The free day was also time for Lewis to meet his future bride -- whichever of the Houser sisters he preferred. He soon discovered that Amber was hot-tempered. Norah seemed okay, though.

And Hazel was willing to gaze at the stars with him.

Later they had a deep conversation, and Lewis discovered that his tension at being in the presence of strangers was beginning to evaporate.

Ojo picked up 10 points by maxing cooking and gaining two levels in wellness. Finishing his 4th song put him in position to gain 2000 satisfaction points, and he gained another 1000 later. He was promoted at work, and so were Max and Olivia.

It's too bad Johanna isn't the heir, she has fantastic traits! All three kids look great though. It'll be interesting to see who Lewis ends up with, all three sisters look good but I'm personally hoping for Hazel.

I'm with @NexttoNormal on shipping Lewis and Hazel.

MarianT, I didn't understand the flurry of points that Ojo gained in your caption for the very last image of this chapter.
Are you saying that Ojo is already qualified to have another free day then pass the reins onto Lewis?

No, that put Ojo at 40 points. He needs another 10 before Lewis can take over.

The Last 10 Points and Free Day

O happy day! Olivia is finally a real athlete -- only a minor leaguer, but better than a mascot.

"Remind me again, why am I doing this?"
(Because you may need to gain another wellness level.)
"I thought we could just add a few columns and pick up some more satisfaction points from the Mansion Baron aspiration."
(We did that already. Your form's getting better, by the way.)

(Or maybe not.)

(But look on the bright side. You're not flailing away at a punching bag like Max.)
"True. Why did we get a punching bag?"
(You wanted one; it was worth 50 satisfaction points; we got it.)

"I don't understand why my duties now include mopping the floor and making beds."
(I told you -- it's because the hospital can't afford to have an orderly now that it has two doctors.)

"Yoga again? Why?"
(Johanna came home with a B instead of the A we expected.)
"But can't I become good friends with someone?"
(You did already -- Kabir Gandhi. But because of Johanna's B, you need 2 points if you want to wrap this up today.)

"Watcher! Come look!"
(Oh my. Very impressive.)
"You almost missed getting the shot. What were you doing?"
(Scanning the lot to see if there was any pregnant woman. Supposedly one is going to show up, but I don't think it's going to happen.)

Ojo did get to level 6 of wellness, so it's now a free day. Lewis has become good friends with Johanna and Mike. That's nice, but it means that after he leaves, he'll have to find other good friends.

His aspiration is The Curator. It means he gets lots of time alone and should be able to find something for a collection.

Painting is something else to work on. He needs to get to level 3 on this last free day so that everyone can pose for him.

Time for his young adult birthday -- Lewis didn't want a party.

(Free day is almost over. Before it ends, could you do something for me, Ojo?)
"Sure, Watcher."
(I do love that song. And I notice you've got some muscle tone on your arms -- and maybe a little less of a paunch?)
"Yes, Watcher, the yoga did help with that."
(I'm going to miss you, Ojo.)
"Me, too, Watcher. Keep an eye on the boy for me, will you?"
(Two eyes, plus a helping hand.)

Stats for the First Heir, Ojo Zest
Skills: Piano -- 6, Wellness -- 3
Promotions: Ojo -- 7, Max -- 4, Olivia -- 3, Johanna -- 2, Lewis -- 2
1000 Satisfaction Points: 10
Good Friends: Olivia, Lewis, Johanna, Mike, Alice Spencer-Kim, Darling Walsh, Max Hiatt, Kabir Gandhi
$30,000: 2
Skills/Aspirations Maxed: piano, cooking, Musical Genius
Negatives: Olivia's fire -- -2, Max's pass out -- -1
