How do you age up a sim after using the age freeze potion?

You can't age them up with  the birthday cake and even the cheat doesn't work, so what else is there? Or are they stuck like that forever?

I was just going to go for a cheat, but that doesn't work either? Than I think if I had that problem I would try moving to another town to see what happens. When I'm out of logical ideas I try everything that doesn't sound logical.

The birthday cake should work. It even tells you when you get the potion to use the cake to age them up.
I just went in the game and tried and after drinking the age freeze potion I was able to age up using the birthday cake, cheat to trigger age and take the sim back into CAS to change the age.
Sounds like your sim might be bugged. You can try what Leto suggested and move them to another town or maybe just move them to the clip board then back in again.

I went to load my game because I was curious to see what would happen if I used the cake on my age-freezed grandma, but of course the game chose this moment to have some serious loading errors and I can't load my game.

So may I ask:
If an elder has had his/her age frozen, what happens when he blows the candles?
I imagine everyone cheering like it was a birthday party while the poor thing actually dies and Grim comes to collect him.

If an elder blows out the candles on a birthday cake he or she will die. Now that has to be a bad birthday party especially for the birthday boy or girl.

An elder cannot blow candles, they can only age up when using Trigger Age Transition (and Grimmie comes)

I just used CAS to age them up. When I'm ready for them to die, I'll just drown them or something.

Well, the cake won't work for some reason (the option is greyed out) and same with the cheat, so what else is there?

My elder couldn't blow the candles, but I could use the cheat. I have a faint memory of the game suggesting to use the cake to age up when I used the age freeze, I guess they forgot to make it so that an elder can use the cake? This could be confusing for players who are not familiar with cheats.

Anyway, Kaye, in my case the cheat was usable, so there might be something odd going on. I don't know why the "trigger aging" cheat wouldn't work.

They die after Elder, so I guess that's why you can't use the cake. It's not a happy occasion, it's a sad one.
