Redeeming Sim Points

I just purchased WA a week or so ago and decided to register it with EA today [thank you Amazon promotion!].
Because I registered it with EA, I got a couple of promotional things, like items... And 10 dollars of free Sim Points.

Whenever I click the part in the email that says "Redeem Sim Points", it directs me to a login page, I log in, but nothing about free Sim Points.  Help?

You'll need an EA/Origin account before you can redeem the points - do you have one?

When I went to redeem my points, I had to sign into thesims3.com and then I registered the game on 'My Page' and then the points were magically added to my account.  If you keep having issues, I would call customer support perhaps.
