I often have my sims marry WA sims, but it  only works if I do a private wedding. I want to do the whole thing, Bachelor/ette party and then a beautiful wedding, making everyone there teary eyed.

Your Sim should be able to have a Bachelor/ette party, since it's not dependant on your WA fiance's presense. As for the fiance's party, and the wedding itself, you could always ask the fiance to move in before they get married, so you can have control of your WA fiance, throw them a bachelor/ette party, and have a wedding party.

The problem is that I can't throw the Bachelor/ette party, when  I choose to throw a party on the cell phone it is either house party or birthday party, even if I invited the sim over. It also seems that once my sim has proposed, s/he can't ask the sim to move in, so the instant you propose, it's all downhill. Where does the option to move in to show up and can you be in either towns, home town or destination town?

Ask to Move In is a Friendly social you get when you do a few Friendly socials. You can only have the foreign Sim move in to the home Sim, not the other way around. As for the Bachelor/ette party, you'll probably need to be home for that, too.

Thank you, in this instance, It was my relaxed save, so I made them best friends and spam romantic interactions. In this couple I hadn't touched friendly.
