My teen is stuck being grounded
« on: July 25, 2012, 06:33:28 AM »
So Edward is stuck grounded, he was caught out after the curfew twice, I made Cersei to let him of the hook few times and with Beau it wont even show me the option to let him of the hook. He is just always sneaking around now. At the start I thought it was funny and cute but now it's annoying especially when he has to run to the bus.

Have you tried making him clean things up around the house? Cleaning their teeth can work too  :P

Or maybe the resetsim cheat could fix it

I did try cleaning but nothing.
As for the cheat I don't know it. I don't like cheats normally but since there is no other choice sometimes...

I'd also use resetsim in this case. That cheat often solves issues when a certain Sim is "stuck" in a certain behaviour, and is generally a very useful cheat even to those who don't like cheats. If that doesn't help, I'm not sure.

To use the resetsim cheat it's 'resetSim' with the sims's name next to it. To me, fixing a glitch isn't really 'cheating'  ;)

I had this problem too - the problem is not that they're grounded, but that they can't stop sneaking everywhere, and resetsim doesn't work (for the record, neither does ageing them up). Here's the thread I asked for advice on, with several solutions:

Did any work? Cause resetting did not work indeed

Yes, the thread details several working solutions! I used a mod, but there are also a couple of solutions of you don't want to use mods - sending them to boarding school briefly, or moving the family out and then back in...

I found the easy solution is to have the parents let themoff themoff the hook. Never had the issue of being permanently grounded; because my sims are leniant and let them off the hook immediately. Hugs and kisses between then and no problems.

How do I get the "let them off hook" option? My mom Sim doesn't have it.  :(

Is the teen showing the 'in trouble' or 'grounded' moodlets? Was it the mom that was angry with the kid, or someone else?

Hey DeLouche. As you know from my story I lost a lot of my game. I suppose I should be glad since both mom and son were close to being nemesis status but I'm a little down about it because it would have been a cool addition to the story.

Anyway Mom was the one that was angry at him and grounded him. Before the crash there was one for grounded. After the crash I was able to see the option for let off the hook after he did some laundry. Does that have anything to do with it?

She was probably too mad at him to let him off the hook, and relented when he behaved and did his chores... sometimes that happens (in Sims as well as in real life)!

My sim did not have the moodlet, which is how I knew it was a glitch, and not just being grounded... Hopefully your sims will become friends again now she's forgiven him :) And also hopefully you'll get your game going again, I'm really enjoying it! I love renovation programs on tv, so I'm stoked to see a sims project like that!

Thanks so much DeLouche. I may come chat with you again next time I have an issue. I was actually searching the forum on why my Sim kept doing that stupid sneak walk all the time. Which is why I minimized the game, which is how I found this thread. And so on and so on. I guess that is the good that came out of the crash. No more sneaking all over the place.

Makes me think twice about using criminal career path, or the clypto trait.
