Grave of a friend

I have just had a sim die on my home lot, who was a friend with my sim but did not live with them in a house. After the fire, Grim came, etc. and there was his urn on the kitchen floor. Later, when i was checking the kitchen, there was no urn, and i am sure i did not delete it, even after my sim cleaned the kitchen of ashes. so, where si it? Is it possible that the urn was transferred to someone else's household to the graveyard? Because i checked the whole graveyard and there was no sign of his grave there. Help?
