How do you send an elixir to a friend?

I keep getting a wish to Send an Elixir to a friend. But I haven't figured out to do it.
I've tried click on the elixir but I don't see an option to send it, I didn't see an option to do it with the mailbox. I tried to give it as a gift but that didn't fill the wish.
So how do you send it to a friend?

I think it's a wish regarding the new way to gift elixirs to other players through the new gifting system.  To do that you have to be signed in like with Simport and there is a new tab on the player wall that allows you to send gifts to others.    Since the patch, I've been sending things to a lot of the members on my friends list.

oh ok, So it means to send it to a real friend and not a sim friend. :) I hadn't thought about the gifting system. Thanks
