ScriptHeap: 95.96MB/99.96MB (15); 10.56MB

I've tried change the DEP setting, the LAA, but still not working.

Any other suggestion?

I've read in this forum under title "Showtime Problem", the problem is similar, my memory load also high 94%, if that is the cause, what can I do to make the game work?

If not, please help.
Thanks. :-[

How has it stopped working? It won't start, or it crashes every time you play?

Crashes every time I played. All fine for the first 30 minutes or so, and then stopped working. :(

I'm not a hardware expert, but I'd assume your Graphics Driver/Card needs updating. :) You'd be best to wait for someone more hardware oriented to confirm/deny it though.

Nope, it's not the graphics card, not that I can see. You've overloaded your computer's RAM. It may be because something is broken or not working, but 4GB isn't a lot of RAM to run the game on especially if you run other things at the same time. I'd suggest upgrading the RAM and seeing what happens.

Thanks for reply btw,

Well, 4GB RAM still OK as the requirement for the game to run, if it is the RAM that being overload, can there is any suggestion on how to manage it, where do I start? A reference or any tutorial will be appreciated.   :'(

I'm having this as well, and I only have 4GB of RAM. I really can't afford to upgrade it.

Have you tried a factory reset? It's happening in every file? I've tried that and it didn't help for me, but it may help for you, just the usual cleaning out your game sort of stuff to help it run smoother. Mine has been okay since yesterday, but I haven't tried my legacy file yet which doesn't go a day without doing it.

Do you run lots of other programs at the same time as you run the game? If you do, try shutting some of them down when you play. Fewer things eating RAM means the game has more it can use. If that doesn't help, then try cleaning your computer or getting it done by a professional. That can fix overheating issues, which may be the other cause. If that doesn't help, then you would probably have to upgrade, and if you're not good with computers you should talk to a professional in your area about that.

Edit: Actually, the tip about clearing cache files and doing a factory reset is a good one. I didn't think of that. Here is the link to the instructions. Make sure you don't delete the ccmerged.package file in your DCBackup folder.

Fez: I can only give you the same advice. If it does happen, close anything else you have open and see if you have processes or other things running that are eating RAM. Web browers, Flash and Shockwave players and iTunes/Windows Media Player are the worst culprits for this. I'll try to write something up about cutting down on processes to clear RAM over the next couple days.

I only have 4G of ram and have all the Ep's and SP's except Sweet treats and Diesel. I always monitor my ram usage with the task monitor. I also make sure to close down any unnecessary programs if needed. I have found that if the computer is at around 70% of RAM while running the game I won't have any problems of saving games or loading new ones.

I used this page as a resource when I first started doing this. It gives some information about what the different programs are, and if you can close them safely.

Hope this improves your gaming.

Also, if I'm on my old laptop. I can only play for shorter times before overheating, so make sure that isn't an issue.

@ unniomona
Your system is 32 bit right?
A 32 bits system limits the use of GB. The best thing to do is to change it to 64 bit. It is also a possibility to adjust a 32 bit system.

NRaas explains it really well on his website:
The main issue is that The Sims 3 is a 32 bit application, and as such only has access to at most 4GB of memory (2 to the power of 32). That is a hard limit that can never be exceeded by the game.
•In the past, the game was actually written to only allow for 2GB of memory usage, however EA wizened up later on and removed that restriction.
•Unfortunately, if you are using a 32bit operating system you are still limited to 2GB of memory, unless you perform adjustments to Windows itself

•If you are running a 64 bit operating system, the game is capable of using a full 4GB of memory

•Note: The code for the game itself uses a section of memory for referencing purposes, so even with a 64bit O/S the most memory you will be able to use is limited to around 3.7GB, after which the game will become unstable and crash.

Also, if I'm on my old laptop. I can only play for shorter times before overheating, so make sure that isn't an issue.

That is also very true, because while playing the game has some memory "leaks", therefore the longer you play the more GB it needs. Playing shorter times can be an option then.

Clearing cache files is very effective for me too btw.
Problem? Don't panic! There is always a solution. You just have to find it  :D

Hi, thanks for your time to answer about the issue.

I run only the game without anything else, but still it stopped working.

Clear the DCBackup file, clear the cache file, still not working, is it possible if and old mods cause it? Like mods that made on 2010?

One more;

That's mean I'm on 64-bit operating system right? Or there is some miss function on my system?

By the look of it, you have a 64 bit system. (I just saw many times "32" in your post, that's why I thought it might be a 32 bit system.

Ok, I think you have covered all your basics. Sounds like you do need a computer expert for this... (which I am not btw)

Maybe old mods can be a problem. I don't know. Do you still use mods or not? If yes, are they updated? And if not, have you uninstalled them properly?

My game has also stopped working after the patch :( Mods are minimal and updated, no CC, caches cleared, background processes stopped, screenshots cleared, disc cleanup and defrag done regularly... And yet, in my fairly new game, whenever I go into 'Build' mode (specifically, when I try to place flooring or adjust terrain), it crashes to desktop  >:( This is annoying, as I've now built up enough funds for a reasonably nice cottage for my dynasty family, and want to get on and build it...

I have a 64 bit system, and only 2 GB of RAM (just ordered some more), but it's been fine up until this latest patch...

Oh well, guess I'm just going to keep playing the family, try and get some decent screenshots, and wait for the delivious new RAM to arrive...

I'm really sure this is a patch problem, because it seems to be happening to everyone only after the patch regardless of mods being used or what their specs are. My laptop has ran the game fantastically up until this point, and usually this stuff is sort of a gradual thing if the problem is the system? So yeah, I'm just going to sit back and wait for a fix. My files have slightly gotten better, and they are all playable now, but I get the occasional freeze in the Legacy and the DecaDynasty. It's like every time I load up the game my families are all in the corner discussing with each other "All right, who wants to freeze today? We Hammings did it yesterday and the Endalausts can't be bothered, so what about the Dreamers?". ;D

Hi all!

Update, my sims works, yayy! - only for 3 days (--__--")
I remove the Moon Fall world, and sudden my game work out, I thought that is the problem,
but apparently it is not.

I agree with  xFezIsAFreakx, I think it's the patch problem - out of my own stress (really?) - because I see a lot lot of posting and people actually have the same problem.

I also get freeze not during the game play but when I entered the CAS mode, or BUY mode, it just works for minutes then it freezes and the screen black out, geezz..

So I'll just, too, wait for the fix, or if any find a solution, please do share, or if you want to share the same problem, do share.

This is the part when "we can have anything but not everything" that I..dislike..the most.. :-X
