A Study of the States of Life, **Completed 6/19/13**
« on: September 17, 2012, 07:01:59 PM »
Here we go.  As usual, I won't even attempt to write, simply because I don't write creatively.  Give me a good technical report and I am all there.

hmmm...

Complete
Generation 1 - Human: Ander
Generation 2 - Fairy: Ginette
Generation 3 - Genie: Lucas
Generation 4 - Werewolf: Lera
Generation 5 - Witch: Blake
Generation 6 - Imaginary Friend: Sophie
Generation 7 - Vampire: Margery

A Study of the States of Life
a Zabala Dynasty

Abstract
Is it possible to obtain seven different life states in a single family?  This study will document the attempt to do so over seven generations, while also achieving set goals for each generation.

Each heir will need to complete seven different goals prior to begetting the next generation.  Each new generation must be of a different life state than the previous generations.

If successful, at the end of the study, the family will consist of seven members, each of varying life states.  The household will have also assembled a collection of seven each of seven different groups of objects.  Each of the objects must be the result of a particular skill and be produced by only the heir.

Introduction
This study will begin with a single human male.  The subject was chosen at random and installed on an empty lot located at 126 Wood Street in Moonlight Falls.  The location of Moonlight Falls was chosen out of a limited selection of communities based upon the incidence of various life states already in residence.

Ander Zabala is the human male subject chosen for this study.  He is described as having the following traits: Great Kisser, Born Salesman, Brooding, Proper, and Loves the Outdoors.  His stated lifetime wish is to be Living in the Lap of Luxury.  He defines that as being worth more than $100,000.

Oh what an interesting and unique way of tackling the life states dynasty. Our human subject is rather handsome.

Thanks.  It was a spur of the moment decision.  I am currently taking five six college classes - all of which are writing intensive - so technical writing is on my mind. (Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Management, Business, and Technical Writing - none of which encourage writing creatively).

He did turn out pretty good for a random clicky so I was surprised. I changed his daily clothes; however, all others are as he chose them.  I don't normally start with males but I have the life states planned out and I have a particular sim in mind for his spouse so male he had to be.

Details, Week 1

After moving into his new home, Ander scoped out the town and headed over to meet the local single fairy, Marigold Maldano.  He was single-minded in his pursuit, even though she seemed just a little unstable.  Eventually, he was able to invite her over to check out his place.  While there he finally convinced her to move in.  She wasn't interested in getting married just quite yet.  Ander was content with her moving in, for now.

Marigold wasn't home long before she headed off to China.  She picked up quite a few books along with some relics and other collectibles.  When she came home, they were able to build the house, although it is still mostly unfurnished.  Marigold spent her time planting and harvesting, and eating the fruits and vegetables in her backpack, even though she was not hungry.  She went back to China for some more collectibles and picked up a treasure chest while she was there.  She plans on keeping her spare fruits and vegetables in there until she is satisfied with her garden quality.

With a little extra money in the coffers, Ander takes a painting class while Marigold takes a gardening class.  They both register for self-employment and spend time progressing their skills.  After returning from her first China trip, Marigold was receptive to getting engaged.  After what seemed like an eternity, Ander was finally wishing to get married.  Marigold was in a good mood and agreed so, not wasting any time, they were married in the kitchen before bedtime.

Ander and Marigold purchase a Bonehilda to help around the house.  So far she makes the bed and cleans the kitchen and bathroom and then heads back to her coffin to sleep until another mess is made.

Marigold Maldano, Fairy Female
Founder's Spouse

Marigold turns out to be insane and unlucky, flirty but frugal, and a fan of the supernatural.  She is working towards what she considers a perfect garden, a collection of at least eight perfect plants.

Details, Week 2 - 3

Ander and Marigold have a busy couple of weeks as they work on their individual assignments.  They adopt Belle, a female adult dog.  She spends several days hunting for gems, finding success with tiberium.  Marigold uses the gem machine and ends up with a spire cut stone and three piles of gem dust.

After selling the tiberium at the consignment store, Ander completes all three of the consignment challenges.

He continues to diligently work on his painting while Marigold works on her garden.  Belle gets lonelier and lonelier so they adopt Bridgette.  This isn't a good decision though, so they put both dogs up for adoption.

Part of the problem with the dogs needs turned out to be Bonehilda.  She would ignore the rest of the house and stalk the dogs to "teach them skills".

Marigold makes a total of three trips to China picking up relics for cash.  This sets up the couple for some real estate purchases, although they still have not finished furnishing the house.  They now have full ownership in the Gypsy Wagon, Sam's Market Diner, Vault of Antiquity, and the bookstore/spa.  Additionally they have a partnership in the film studio.  Finally, they own several venues: Varg's Tavern at level 3, La Shove Beach at level 2, and the dog park at level 0.  Ander celebrates his birthday with the completion of all of his requirements with the exception of the final collection of paintings.

Ander completes his last paintings and after posing for a picture for the files, he is off to make some babies.

They can be consigned in the new elixir consignment store that came with Supernatural but not through the regular consignment store.

Details, Week 4 - 7

Ander and Marigold wasted no time making little fairy nooboos.

Having completed his assignment, Ander became the primary caregiver while Marigold continued working on the perfect garden.  There were times, though, when Ander wanted Marigold to help out a little, going so far as to bring one of the infants out and putting her in the garden with the plants to see if Marigold would even notice.

Life with three infants gets pretty hectic and life with three fairy toddlers is even worse.

Marina is the first born.  She comes into this simworld as a neurotic couch potato.  She was also resistant to her training and at this point was declared a spare.

With Marina's future decided, she gets to grow up quickly and moves out.  She added inappropriate as a child, gatherer as a teen, and savvy sculptor as a young adult.  She rolled the lifetime wish to become a vocal legend.

Ginette makes her appearance second and channels disciplined insanity.  She is an early favorite because of her red hair.

Last, Riley joins her sisters.  She is a perceptive grump.  And she is blue, which is a point in her favor.

Riley and Ginette master the xylophone and read the writing skill books and they are both best friends with their parents.  While Marigold may not have spent much time with them in their infant days, they didn't seem to hold it against her. Much.  With their skills learned, it is time to become children and the race is still on, for a few minutes longer.  Riley rolls Photographer's Eye.  Riley was the first to complete her tasks and had become the heavy favorite for heiress.

Not to outdone though, Ginette becomes a supernatural fan.  She just leapfrogged over Riley into the heiress position.  With cake.

Riley is allowed to grow up and move on out.  She picks up Natural Born Performer as a teen and Over Emotional as a young adult.  Bye bye Riley.

Ander finally remembers to drink his Age Freeze potion.

With the focus now solely on Ginette, she gets to work.

Ginette makes a best friend, who just happens to be an incontinent vampire named Shara Van Gould.  Even though she is looking so shocked, this is actually the second time Shara peed herself, and Ginette had peed herself once.

Ginette achieves her childhood goals and heads into her teen years.  She has a harder time with these goals but she manages to complete everything.  She gets romantic with Felix MacDuff, reaches the third level at the mausoleum, and makes the honor roll again.

The next generation will be the genie generation.  So, Marigold begins looking for a genie of the appropriate gender.  Her first find was not "right"

Ginette decides to take matters into her own hands and find her own genie.  Well, at least he is the right gender.

Interestingly, Branden is a lot bluer when he is not in his genie outfit.  Branden joins the family in anticipation of joining the family.  He is an unlucky, artistic, family-oriented, genius with a green thumb who wants to master the arts.  He is already dreaming about having babies and they aren't quite married yet.

Ginette completes her goals with a few days to spare.  She happily grows up alone outside the mausoleum.

As a graduation present, she and Marigold head to France.  This is what happens with two insane chicks go traveling.  They both show up in their night clothes without their wings.

Week 8

Once Ginette became a young adult, she was able to complete her assignment quickly.  She spent five days in France with Marigold working on her nectar making skill.  Once she came home from vacation, she changed her job to Nectar Maker and began accumulating nectar.  As Ander was the consignment specialist, he took the responsibility of selling her nectar.  Ginette completed all three gardening challenges along with three of the nectar making challenges.  Nectar making also counted for four of her five wishes with marrying Branden filling out the group.  There isn't much for this update, as Ginette spent her time harvesting and nectaring.  Marigold kept the plants in bloom so Ginette could harvest at will.  Ander played with the water toys all week and Branden stayed at the park until he mastered guitar.    When Ginette decided she wanted to marry Branden, they took time out for a quick, private wedding.

Marigold will be testing out the jelly bean plant at the consignment shop to see all of the moodlets.  So far she has received an adrenaline rush, turned berry blue, and found one that was too spicy.  The last one she ate made her need to pee.

Having completed her requirements, it is now time for Ginette and Branden to make some genie babies.

Week 9-10a

Ginette and Branden get busy and making their spawn

Generation 3, the Genie generation has arrived in the guise of Lucas

Lucas completes his requirements by learning logic and the xylophone and then befriends his parents and his future spouse, Hanne.

Soon enough he is a child heading off to school and sporting pink hair. Hmmm, what was I thinking?

Thanks.  I have been working for the past week trying to save the file.

He topped Angler but due to severe glitches (Moonlight Falls) he never had the service award pop up despite sales of well over $100,000.  Once he reached level 10 in the angler career he switched over to culinary.

Blake has the red hair and is playing with Miranda; Adam is in the middle playing with Kara; Carson is in the red playing with Jelly Bean.  Carson is not eligible to be heir so the race is between Adam and Blake.

I am not quite sure how this happened...  the only thing I can think of was I consigned 23 large spires of tiberium along with a lot of other metals and gems that my werewolf collected while looking for pink diamonds and palladium.  The message right after this one, which I did not get a screen capture, said something to the affect that the town's banks were did not have the capacity for this large amount therefore the excess would be "stored in an offshore account".  The family has capped out on cash on hand at $99,999,999.

I really believe this must be a game glitch.  The family had over 7 Million so money was never going to be a problem, but still...

Edit:
Because they are maxed out on family funds I contnue to get the offshore message...

Wow, his mausoleum room looks so cool!

Thanks. I am using one of the blueprint rooms - the "art room" for the mausoleum.  They each get their own room which I customize to their particular collection.

They can get 3 levels in the new playpen.  I tested it first, carefully  :D before counting it to make sure, but she skilled 3 bars in the playpen and then as a teen started at level 3 when she aged up.

Congrats on finishing.  I'll be sending you an email soon.  I'm also moving your story over into the completed section.

From left to right we have Lucas (genie gen 3), Lera (werewolf gen 4), Ginette (fairy gen 2), Ander (human gen 1), Sophie (imaginary friend gen 5), Margery (thirst ghost gen 7), Blake (witch gen 6)

And a snowy, final view of the house

I didn't do a story but decided to briefly recap the generations.

Generation 1 - Human / Ander
Ander started off by marrying the local fairy, Marigold.  He focused on painting and building up his consignment reputation while Marigold built up the family garden.  Once he completed his requirements, they had a single pregnancy resulting in triplet fairies (Marina/Ginette/Riley).  In addition to completing the painting and consignment challenges, he also completed the gem and mushroom collecting challenges.  At the end of seven generations he succeeded in only mastering painting since his only preferred activity was playing in the water slide.

Generation 2 - Fairy / Ginette
Ginette won the heiress pool and spent 5 days on vacation working on gardening and nectar making.  She brought brought the genie Branden into the family to be her husband which was almost a disaster since he and Marigold constantly were flirting with each other.  In addition to completing the gardening and nectar making challenges, she also completed the mushroom collector challenge and the timber terminator, along with mastering martial arts and athletics.  She and Branden did not succeed in having triplets, or even twins.  They only had Lucas, who thankfully was a genie.  By this time though my game was glitching severely and had stopped popping opportunities for anyone in the family.  It eventually stopped saving properly.

Generation 3 - Genie / Lucas
Lucas was supposed to marry his imaginary friend but due to the glitches she had reverted to being just a regular doll.  I gave up on the doll and when he became a young adult he moved in his werewolf girlfriend, Tonya.  In trying to work around the issues as much as possible I took them on vacation to max out the fishing using up a total of 10 days trying to catch all types of fish.  The issues finally reached a critical point and after receiving permission to make a town jump to try to save the attempt, the family successfully made the move to Riverview which resolved almost all of the problems.  They still had a crash to desktop issue, but the opportunities were popping now and the saves were valid so everything else could be worked around, as usual.  Lucas had been working on fishing in Moonlight Falls and had mastered it and logic there but had not popped any high level wishes so once he reached the top of the Angler career he switched to culinary and began working on cooking in Riverview.  Things worked out much better for him this time around, resulting in him mastering logic, fishing, and cooking, along with reaching the top of both angler and culinary careers, and completing skill challenges for logic, fishing and cooking.  He and Tonya had triplets (Shasta, Taryn, and Lera).  Two were genies and only Lera was a werewolf.  The genies were quickly grown up which I then realized messed up the entire process of receiving the magic doll in the mail for the new generation and threw off the plan of having the next generation marrying the imaginary friend.  So plans were changed, again.

Generation 4 - Werewolf / Lera
Lera was designated as my sculptor and collector and gave me a chance to play with the werewolf collecting ability.  I was very pleased to discover that the Midas Touch could be used on a sculpted item increasing the value and then the consigned value was increased even more when Ander was the one placing it on consignment.  She hit level 10 in her career with her 6th item sold.  She master only sculpting during her time in the family, completed all of the sculpting challenges.  She also completed the beetle, butterfly, gem, and metal collecting challenges.  She met up with a witch named Darius and after moving him in and marrying him they had triplets, two witches and one werewolf (Adam/Blake/Carson).

Generation 5 - Witch / Blake
Having learned my lesson with the magic dolls, finally, the babies were all allowed to grow up on their own time.  Carson was the werewolf and never in the running, leaving Adam and Blake battling for the heirship.  Blake had the red hair so he won the toss when the time came.  Once I knew that the imaginary dolls were active, birthday cakes were brought out for the spares.  Carson and Adam were grown up and moved on out.  I had started moving out the spouses and spares in order to keep the house as empty as possible after the move to Riverview and found this made for interesting situations and lots of naughty reputations.  ::)  Blake mastered inventing, handiness, martial arts, and science.  He also completed handiness and inventing skill challenges along with the timber terminator.  When the time was right, he made his imaginary friend, Miranda, real and they had twins.  Chloe was a witch and Sophie was a doll so the choice was easy.  Miranda moved out with Chloe and Sophie became the next heiress.

Generation 6 - Imaginary Friend / Sophie
Sophie was the overachiever of the family.  She mastered a total of five skills and spent 14 days at university.  She started off with riding, then moved on to alchemy, mixology, street art, and finally science.  What she never managed to complete was reaching the top of her career.  She competed in many horse races and received trophies in one of each eventually but made most of her money buying and selling horses.  She finally gave up on her career and just became an Art Appraiser.  She had asked her vampire boyfriend, Elmer, to move in with her but he expired immediately upon moving in so she went down to the science center and tried to bring him back.  It didn't work out so well and he came back as a ghostly version of himself.  When she got pregnant, she knew she had a chance of having either a vampire baby, a ghostly baby, or a doll baby.  In the end Sophie completed skill challenges for street art, science, alchemy, and rider of legend.

Generation 7 - Thirst Ghost / Margery
Margery turned out to be a thirst ghost.  I still have not truly had to play a vampire in this game yet.  Elmer returned to the netherworld once Margery completed her toddler requirement of being best friends with her parents and became a child.  Margery wasn't on a time limit as she didn't need to bring in another generation, so she focused only on her actual age requirement instead of looking ahead as I normally did.  Surprisingly, this worked out better than I expected.  She mastered charisma first and then turned to writing.  The opportunities and wishes were done by the time she finished up the skill challenges.

Moonlight Falls ended at Week 15, Day 2 while Riverview ended at Week 27, Day 1 for a total game time of 42 Weeks, 3 Days (plus 14 University days and 15 Vacation days used)
