I have a theory on the not aging up and not trying for baby thing(I have lots of theories!  I love theories!)  Maybe it's because if you tried for a  baby with that skin tone, there could be a possibility of them getting that skin tone?  Maybe the game is programed to where it changes the actual cas skin tone while they have the moodlet.  And maybe the aging up thing is because it would be set like that?  I don't know, it's just my theory.

Wow, that seems very logical. That's probably the reason for it.

Oh! Thank You! That helps a lot, as always with a new expansion pack it can be difficult to keep track of what exactly is going on - this eliminates one question mark :)

Is the mood lamp worth getting?

I just bought the game yesterday and spent most of my time remodeling the house.  So, I have a lot to learn about what is what, good to have and bad things to stay from.

I do think it is useful as it gives a +10 moodlet, you just have to be careful and remember to turn it off when aging a sim and having a sim try for baby.

It also makes it easier to build relationships, especially romantic ones. Turn it to pink and turn it on - romantic interactions are more readily accepted. At least it seems like they are.

How do you get rid of the moodle that comes with the mood lamp? I am trying to age my faerie child up and I can't figure out how to get rid of the moodlet from the mood lamp

Hello. For anyone that does not know, you can do the following:

1 - Hold cntrl + shift + c to open the text box
2 - Type "testingcheatsenabled true" and click the enter button
3 - Then, to remove the mood lamp moodlet, cntrl + left mouse click on it

It turns your Sim's skin color back to normal and my child sim was able to age up immediately. I hope this is helpful.

so, that means the lamp had the France incense effect? Is it having any effect the same as the other incense too?

Can anyone tell me how the different colors affect a sim's mood?
Is there anyone who can explain to me how the different colors on mood lamp affects a sim's mood? It could be nice with a list of all the colors.

Not sure if you still need or want this, but here you go:

There are six colors - Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, and Purple

The Blue light is the only one that lowers your Sim's mood.
Red and Yellow don't do much besides raise your mood - I haven't had my Sims do anything unusual using it.
Normal Sims risk being turned into Toads when around the Green light.
Pink causes your Sims to flirt and be more romantic autonomously.
And Purple kind of zens everyone - no negative moodlets in it's vicinity; I usually use it while they're sleeping.

Some effects that may go unnoticed:
Red - more chance to be insulting
Yellow - more chance to be funny
Green - more chance to be friendly
Blue - increase in skill gain for musical skills
