Sim can't use computer

So one of my Sims can't use the computer.  At first when she tried to, she  disappeared, and her portrait box was green with no picture of her.   I tried switching to another sim, and then when I went back to this household, I everything seemed fine, but when I tried to use the computer again, she suddenly was not in the chair, but outside the house, and again, her portrait box was green, no picture (though I could still see her).

I did the reset Sim, which did not get her back, so then I again went to another household, came back and she was ok.  By this time, I'd noted it had to do with using the computer, so I got rid of it, and bought a new one.  As soon as I tried to have her write, she was out of the chair and outside the house again (but this time no blank portrait box).

She can't write on the library computer either.

But Sims in other households have no problem using computers.  It's only this one Sim in one household.

What should I try next?  I'm pretty new to the game, but I have read some threads around the forum (which is how I figured out how to do what I've tried so far).  I am running several mods, including story progression and master controller.

Your Sims' portrait is blank? That's a bad sign. I would recommend that you go back to a previous save (Guide), because this is a bad bug that usually signifies a corrupted save game.

Should I do that even if her portrait eventually came back?  (She still can't use the computer though).

I hate to do it, since I just continued to play with that file (some with her household but mostly with different characters) and so some Sims in other households have improved skills, etc.

Sigh.  If I need to, I need to though, because I wouldn't want to continued playing with a corrupted save game, which might cause even more problems.  But if anyone has any other ideas, let me know!

(you know, trying to be hopeful that there might be another solution! )

I know this sounds crazy, but try moving everything you can out of your sim's inventory and see if that helps.

Thanks for your help everyone.  Not sure quite what fixed it, but it is fixed.

I did follow the advice in the link posted by Seabody, and assumed I had a corrupted save file, so I went on to the back up files instead (after following instructions in the linked thread).

That got her going again, and she was able to use her (newly purchased) computer.  But then she disappeared again when I tried to get her to write a "poetry novel."  She reappeared by the mailbox each time. This happened twice, but oddly, she could do other things on the computer (chat, check real estate) and even write other novels.  Just not "poetry novels." 

So then I decided to move everything out of the inventory, and I discovered a laptop I didn't know she had in the family inventory.  I emptied out both inventories,  and now everything is working fine.

No idea what that was all about, but I appreciate the help!
