Finished Paintings Back on Easel?

I know I've seen this addressed recently, but I have no idea where it was and now I need to know.  Is there a way to place a finished painting back onto an easel from the personal inventory?  Like if you want to display them?

I saw it where someone has said you could do it but I never have been able to.  As far as I can tell if you want a painting to be on an easel, you have to leave it on there after it's done being painted.
