Lot Size: 10x10
Lot Value: 16,451 (16,251 excluding land)
Content Used: All Expansions
Suggested Placement: Anywhere with a great view!
Number of Bed Spaces: 2
Number of Bathrooms: 1
Description: Originally built as a secret love nest for a torrid superstar romance, this secure yet tranquil home is now on the market!

Electronic security gates guarantee privacy and security, protecting the car park and main entrance from any unwanted visitors.  The lower lever houses the swimming pool and workout room.  The full length mirror also doubles as a great place to practice lines for an upcoming audition.

Upstairs the studio-style apartment offers plenty of subtle luxury.  The magnetic hoverbed guarantees the sweetest dreams, and it's perfectly positioned to admire the spectacular floor-to-ceiling views.  Half-walls allow natural light to flood the space.  State of the art electronics are ready to watch feature performances on demand, with built in adjustable lighting ready to dim when the show starts and brighten after the credits roll.  A dramatic digital picture frame lets any picture become a personal work of art.

The fully stocked efficient kitchen can prepare any gourmet meal without wasting an inch of space.  Rounding out the simple luxury the dishwasher, handy washer and dryer, and wall-mounted stereo system provide exceptional convenience.  With serene tones throughout, this sumptuous home is ready to be an oasis for the next up and coming superstar!

Notes:
-When the TV is turned on the lights in the living space drop to a deep blue, then return to normal when the TV is switched off.
-The fridge and stove can give great meal moodlets.
-The washer and dryer might be cheap, but they still give clean sheets and fresh clothing moodlets.
-The lower level and both rooms of the apartment should give decorated moodlets to most sims.
-Skilling objects will be able to help launch 'celebrity' careers (actor, athlete, acrobat, magician, singer).
-Single sims will have enough cash left over after buying the house to eat until their first paycheque comes in!

Beach Hut Starter

Lot size: 20x15
Furnished price: 16,496
Unfurnished price: 12,604
Suggested placement: On the beach in Sunset Valley
Bed spaces: 2
Bathrooms: 1
Content possibly used: WA, AMB, GEN, PETS, Outdoor living, Town life.
No CC.

Beach Hut Starter is the ideal starter house for the Sim who doesn't want to compromise on views! The open plan living and sleeping area opens out onto a beach front deck, where you can have a barbecue, sunbathe or watch the sun go down over the sea.

The heavy usage of opulent wood gives the Hut a natural feel, and increases it's fire risk. Luckily there's a smoke detector!

The hut sits on a large plot of beach so there's plenty of room to expand, maybe even save up for a hot tub!

Minute Modern Espana

Lot size: 10 x 15
Cost when furnished: 16,318
Cost when unfurnished: 10,918
Bed spaces: 2
Bathrooms: 1

Expansions used: World Adventures, Pets, Supernatural, University Life
Stuff packs used: None, as far as I could tell.

I have thoroughly checked the house for other content and can't find any. However, Ambitions, Generations and Seasons content may be found, as well as possibly Town Life stuff.

A minute starter home styled on the exterior as a Spanish Villa, but on the inside as a modern pad. As a small studio bungalow it has no bedroom, but does have a comfortable double bed for the best night's sleep imaginable. Interior viewing not necessary due to minute size and limited sim capacity.

EDIT: Link to the download thread. I knew I'd forgotten to do something!

The most comfortable night's sleep you'll get, the best kitchen Simtropolis has to buy, the most luxurious bathroom for your sims to relax and ease away a day's stress with bubbles and ducky. Not only that, it's all about looks, right? Well, you can also look rich with this awesome sports car parked out the front. You can't drive it though. It's all about feel, right? Well the whole house has the beautifully decorated moodlet (+40!) throughout.

Hey guys just wondering when the poll for voting was going up.

Rachel

Now. Sorry for such a delay, lots of stuff going on for all three of us and getting contests out are priority over polls which can easily slip our minds in these busy schedules we have. I have 10 exams in the space of two weeks, lots of fun for me! :P I'm going to work on getting alerts on my phone to make sure I'm ready for this sort of thing though. ;)

Building Contest 2013: 10 - Swanky Starters - May 19, 2013 - June 1, 2013
    Decima!

Congratulations to Decima for winning the building contest! You can download the winning entry here: Beach Hut Starter.

Decima's Comment:

"Thanks everyone for another great contest. This one really interested me as it looked like quite a challenge to find a way to make a starter luxurious. I sat and thought for ages on how to make my entry 'different' before building.

Big thank you to everyone who voted and the mods for continuing to make the contests so fun!"

Congratulations Decima! I'm amazed at how lovely and spacious your house was on such a small budget! It really is stunning!

Everyone did such brilliant entries and anyone could have won, in my opinion. As this was my first entry, I wasn't expecting to win and I found this a good build for me to start with.

I'm open for comments on my entry, positive and negative. I'm always striving to improve.

@ bubbles - You did a marvelous job on your first entry . I really like the style of your house . Posting more screenshots would help with your presentation .  :)

@ sethelD93 - I just loved the style of your building . In my opinion , you did a great job with your first entry . The only thing I might change on your building is , maybe to use the same windows on the front main floor instead of the two long ones . This is only my opinion though . Love your house and you did a great job on the interior as well .  :)
