I have not tried this, but take a look at the link below.  It details a way to get free points.  I don't know if it is limited to USA or if it is even still available, but, it may be worth trying :).

Also, and again I have never done this, so do not know how it works, but, I have seen points being offered as reward for a winning entry to some competitions on the official website.
