Sims magically joining household
« on: July 30, 2013, 01:25:37 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum but I've read and used a few of your guides and was really hoping anyone could help me.
I'm playing sims 3 on pc and have just installed the Island Paradise expension.

I made a new family (of one sim) and bought a houseboat, but after a few days 3 sims just magically joined my household.
No questions asked, I had never seen them before.

So I had one of them call to move and kicked them all out.
But it just keeps happening... Every few (sim)days two or three people just magically move into my household, I kick them out and a few days later it happens again.

Anyone had this happen before? Is there a setting I missed or?

Any help would be appreciated. Thnx!

Yoora

Do you have any mods? They might cause problems.

This sounds very like the new roommate service that was introduced with the expansion University Life. If you have that expansion installed, have you checked the settings on the roommate service, if it's turned on by mistake or something? If it's on you will have a number of strange sims joining your household, and if you kick them out somehow, they will only be replaced by new ones rather quickly. I hope you will get this issue sorted out soon, it can't be very fun having to remove unwanted houseguests all the time!

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I do have university. Where can I switch this setting on and off?
And would that work on normal residential lots?

Use the cellphone and click on Real estate and travel services, or something like that. I don't play the English version of the game, so I'm not exactly sure what it's called, but you'll soon find it. And it works fine on residential lots.

Have you seen this topic, doesn't it resemble your issue quite a lot? http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,17071.0.html

Hi and thank you for your reply.

it was indeed the appartment style switched on. So odd because I made sure not to use appartment when I build my home.

Anyway thank you so much for helping me. And happy simming!

So odd because I made sure not to use appartment when I build my home.

The whole sims 3 game is nothing but odd, strange, irrational, unpredictable, erratic and so on, but I love it anyway! ;D

I'm glad you managed to solve this particular issue though! I'm sure there will soon be another one, or three, for you to solve!

This site is a blessing and a lifesaver when it comes to dealing with all those problems and issues that occur all the time while playing TS3. I honestly don't know what I would have done without it!?! :)
