Renting additional homes?

Hey all!   
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I did a quick search and I couldn't find the info that I was after (I really couldn't be bothered reading through long posts though). So I'm wondering if you can rent out additional homes in Sims 3, and if so how?

I'm currently playing Island Paradiso and have just discovered Beryl Shoals. -So if I'm able, I'd love to build a small bungalow on there, and rent it out as I'm in some serious need of some extra $$$!

Okay, I wasn't sure where to put this, so that makes sense.

I don't think renting is an option, but you can get a free resort(Hobart's Hideaway, I think it's called) and update it step by step.

The additional residential properties, like hidden islands, can be sold away and at least in my game re-bought with no problem. So if you want extra cash, you can just sell it with your sim's smartphone.
