Can you have pets in the future?

Does anyone know if you can have pets in the future or take your current pets to the future with you?
I like going for a few days at a time so would like to take their fog with them.

No, there are no pets in the future.  Your current pets cannot go, nor can you get a new pet when you get there.  It's a shame, really.

The pets in the future are the holopets which take as much care as real pets but in a way are more interesting and less of a bother.  Interacting with them increases your technology skill.
