If I have been playing in a community for a while and then decide to turn off the supernaturals what happens to them?

What do you mean by 'turn off' supernaturals? Do you mean turning them off in Story Progression or removing Supernatural entirely?
Also, you might want to change your title to something more specific.

That is correct - it doesn't change any that are already there or force them out of town. It just means that no more will be generated by story progression.
