Playable Ghost Questions
« on: October 20, 2010, 06:53:00 PM »
I looked on the Guide and searched the forum and though there's excellent information on mummies and simbots, I couldn't find much of anything on the day to day existence of a playable ghost. I did read that if given ambrosia and restored to life, that they'll leave if they weren't a member of the household they died in. Oh, and that apparently they need to eat.  ???

1. If a Sim dies in your home or on your lot, but they didn't live there, do they still become part of your household when you take the tombstone to the lab and make them playable ghosts?

2. What are playable ghosts' needs? Bed to sleep in? Shower? Basically, I guess I'm asking if they have all the same needs as a living Sim.

3. Can they get a job? I wouldn't think so, but I don't know so.

4. If a female ghost dies before she's an Elder, can she Woohoo and have children? Can males do the same (except they could still be an Elder)? I've heard of ghost babies, so I'm guessing that one or both of these are possible.

5. Is there any question I haven't asked here that contains important information on playable ghosts?

If these questions have already been answered in the Guide or on a thread that I missed, I hope someone will kindly direct me to it. I feel silly asking these questions as it is, even though ignorance is no crime.  :-\

Ghost have all the same needs as regular sims, so if they're playable it  lot like playing a regular sim... only cooler. If a sim girl dies before she's an elder and is then made playable, yes she can have a baby, men work the same way they do before they die, always fertile. I'm not sure about jobs but I believe they can get them. And if you take a tombstone to the science lab after you get the opportunity they are added to your household, just like a simbot.

Hope it helps and happy Simming.

Yes, playable ghosts can have jobs.  They are almost exactly like living Sims except they always have that creepy music sound and other Sims get creeped out being around them (like a mummy and Simbot).  They also don't have voices.  And if a living Sim and ghost Sim have a baby, there's a 50/50 chance it will be a ghost baby.  It will be the same kind of ghost as the parent, too.

Thank both of you for the answers! I thought I'd find them in the Ghost section of the Guide, but no such luck. Anyway, I should be able to handle one now, thanks to the two of you!  :) Molly French will soon be back amongst the living, whether or not she's living herself.  ;)

Ok this is an old thread but I don't see another place to ask. How do I resurrect my ghost vampire husband Sim? I read in the guide about an opportunity to do something at the science lab but I haven't gotten it yet. I started from scratch in the science field after Hubby died but still nothing. What do I have to have to prompt that opportunity? Is there another way to resurrect him? We have already had a child and there is one on the way (the first was a vampire but not a ghost). What am I not doing?

You have two options:

1. You may have already received the opportunity before. What it seems to me is that once I get the opportunity once, I can restore ghosts whenever I want. Go to the map and click the science lab tag. Check to see if there is an option that says "Restore the Ghost of..." or something similar. If there isn't, move on.

2. Wait for the opportunity. It usually takes a few days - it doesn't happen right after a sim dies.

Working in the science field won't do anything to make this opportunity happen.  It's a special opportunity, unrelated to skill or career.  As sydney511 said, you just have to wait if the option doesn't show up on the science center in Map View.  Sometimes they come after a death in your household, sometimes they don't.  It can be quite random.

IT CAME! It finally came. I thought it would never happen. My boyfriend was really getting upset that he couldn't play his Sim (to the point of my head spinning). I couldn't stay in my skin I was so excited. Man. All is well again in the Bridgeport home of Lowery. Thanks for your advice you two. I guess patience is really a virtue that I need to work on. :D

EDIT:Ok since no one else is here I'll go ahead an throw in the pictures. I am thinking of doing a thread but didn't think this would be enough to be considered worth a new thread.

Oh yea I had my baby and so there's my ghostie vampire baby and her daddy. Its so beautiful. *sniff sniff*

I had that, too, Platnum.  I didn't control the ghost vampire father, but he haunted the apartment and interacted with the triplets (two ghosts and one vampire).  The thing about ghosts that gets me is the creepy sounds that constantly play.  And they don't talk.  That gets unnerving for me after a short time.

You were my inspiration, Pam. When I saw the vamp ghost babies I was so curious I just had to see if I could do it too. I hadn't planned on the ghost part at first. Hubby wanted to be a vampire. Then we had twins, both vampire. Then he must have gotten too hot in the sun upgrading my sprinklers, or he was thirsty I don't know. He had a celeb party and then next thing I saw Grim Reaper. We were going to end without saving but then I was like, lets see if we can get a ghost baby. Then after we checked out the guide on ghosts the boyfriend was interested in giving it a try. And then two more babies here we are. I'm working on getting the ambrosia so he can come back completely. It was like a little challenge or a small task and its almost done. I do have a question though. Will the creepy music be with the baby too?

@patnum: that really is a nice picture! To bad it is that small, it looks like it could have been painted by a evil sim (because of the overly red color). To answer your question: yes the music will play with all your ghosts, but not constantly. I have seen it with mummy ghosts as well.

Thanks leto. I thought you could click on the picture to look at it bigger. At least that is what happened with me. I will see if I can make it larger. I am contemplating putting it up on the story thread.

You're using the in-house image hosting and it will only put a thumbnail in posts.  It does show the bigger image when you click on it, but Leto may be using a mobile device that doesn't allow him to do that.  We actually prefer members to use Photobucket.com for images because they will show full size on the forum.  The best size is 640 x 480.

Oh ok I got you. Hey at least they can try to look at it. I can't see pictures from my mobile. I have never heard of Photobucket until I joined here. Do I have to pay for it? I am very skeptical of having to download things to my computer. I will look it up and learn more about it before I use it.
