Have you guys tried the teleportation pad? I never played Bridgeport but I think it might solve the long elevator rides :)

Alright, so, elevators are starting to annoy me just a little bit.

Quite recently a burglar broke into my apartment. For whatever reason, I had forgotten to buy an alarm, so I had to manually call the police. Meanwhile, the burglar stole my shower. As it turned out, the police happened to be my neighbor. He quickly ran out, but by that point the burglar was already waiting for the elevator. The police could do nothing but stand there and wait with him. They then took the ride down together.

When the elevator reached the ground floor, the burglar quickly ran out. The police got stuck between the doors and fell to the ground. The burglar got away.

Oh, how I wish Sims could act while in elevators - having the police beat the burglar up on the way down would be great.

This is one thing I dislike about The Sims- burglars can get in with just opening the door/elevator whilst other people have to ring/buzz and I have to open up for them. Sure, it's a random event but...maybe it could be pulled off better? Climbing through a window would be more realistic.

I was hoping in Late Night burglars couldn't get in with the elevators. I guess I'm wrong.

... I think there is a way to look inside before buying too, from the information box that comes up where you see its name and description.

Hannah met her plasma donor Neighbour at her new apartment and found out he was a magician! Is this the NPC magician or is it a 'Level' in a new career?

I love living in apartments for my single Sims.  But one drawback I noticed is when you get robbed.  I called and was off the phone with the cops even before the burglar had the elevator doors closed to come up to my pad.  After he robbed me, the burglar and cop passed each other in the hallway outside my door.  Cop said sorry, the burglar got away.  The burglar even took his time while robbing me.  I have been ok with the time it takes to get around Bridgeport but not anymore.  Off to buy a new stove, mirror and bed...

I figured that out just recently myself.  :-[

I'm pretty sure it's the NPC magician.  Apparently, NPC Sims now sort of have places to live.

Which one?  There's several that could be considered "starters".  The one I'm using now is a tiny 4th floor studio.  There's a swimming pool just outside.

Anything that can be bought with a sim out of CAS. When TS3 originally came out it was 16000, then with WA, it jumped to 16500. I don't know if it is still that with LN, but what is it now and what apartments are purchasable with the starter funds?

I'm definitely getting a forum vibe from a lot of players that they're not too keen on the apartment living/extra time necessary in Bridgeport. Well, here's my take — I love it. It's realistic and harder to get things done. I can definitely see forcing 2011 Tournament players to play one challenge in a Bridgeport apartment just to see what kind of chops they have. To be honest, I don't want to max a skill in a week. I don't want to max a career in two weeks. I want things stretched out a bit. It gives the game more value and replayability. That's always been one of my own complaints is that the game is way too easy for me if I just plop a Sim down in Sunset Valley. Many Lifetime Wishes can be accomplished inside of two weeks. Now it's going to be a lot harder for Bridgeport players because of added time element. Bravo, EA. Now, don't get me started on some of the stupid bugs that have existed for months and months. But, as far as what Bridgeport offers to a seasoned player looking for new challenges...two thumbs up.

Yeah, yeah, Metro.  But that's YOU.  Most of us aren't uber mega marvel players like you are.  Heck, you could finish a complex challenge in a day if the girls didn't ask for some attention.   ;)

So about apartments.  I put two buildings, the laundromat and the Twinbrook consignment store, in Bridgeport.  Not an easy task and definitely not finished.  In one building the elevator went in smooth as can be, (the consignment store).  In the other one, it refused to allow me to place an elevator anywhere claiming it needed to be against a wall, which of course I was doing.  But it DID allow me to place the elevator on the lot outside of the building with the doors to the elevator inside the building!  Ok, so I built walls around it and called it good.  Then it wouldn't let me go all the way up.  Ok, no problem.  Last spot was going to be a penthouse anyway.  BUT, my original intention was to make these two buildings have 4 apartments in them and a roof top hot spot for the tenants to party in and get their mixology skills increased in.

All sounded pretty good but how do I make these buildings qualify as apartments?  From what I can tell a Sim has to buy the entire building and then they are the ones to live in it and can't "rent" out apartments or rooms to others without the others joining their group/family.  As single family dwellings these are pretty darned spendy places to live!  You can buy a really nifty mansion for the value of these places and they aren't even furnished yet.  So goes my dream of being a wealthy landlord.

I moved my 2 star sim celebrity into an apartment in bridgeport and her neighbors, would you believe it behind door number 1 is a social worker and behind door number 2 is a 5 star celebrity! How cool is that!

I haven't got the game yet but after reading your post I was wondering. Are those appartments really that hard than? How can living in a apartment makes the game more difficult than it hast to used to be?
Okey, you will have space limitation and you can say goodbuy to gardening (balcony fruit won't work right?) but that can't be the only things that makes it more difficult?
