One thing that confused me:  sometimes a Sim will be "visiting" you, but they won't actually come up to the apartment.  In other words, Sims that just hang out in the lobby, or get stuck there, are still considered "visitors".

Maybe that's what happened to me. Hmm.

I find, sometimes you have to go down to greet them, I am not sure why though and sometimes they will come up on their own.  I kept waiting and waiting for someone to come up and finally had to go down to get them. :)

Saltypaws, I think it has something to do with the Lock settings on the apartment door. Once I forgot that I locked my door to allow household members only and the Sim I invited over (Tom Wordy) remained downstairs even though I buzzed him in. Poor Tom spent the whole night sleeping on a bench in the nearby park (it was the Powell House lot) while I sat around wondering why he didn't show up. :P

If the 'Call Over' interaction was available it might save a lot of grief.

Has anyone had an apartment burglarized? Is the built-in security enough without an alarm?

LlamaMama, my apartment got burglarized once. I didn't install a security system but my Sim managed to call the police as she spotted the burglar while they were both waiting in the lobby for the elevator. The police took some time to arrive and when the policewoman came the burglar had swiped an expensive stove and was waiting patiently outside the unit for the police to come get her. The elevator slowed the whole process down.  :P Sorry if it was off-topic, thought I might share that... probably with an alarm system it would have turned out the same?

Welcome, goodfella. Not off-topic at all, that's good information. I guess an alarm would be useful, even with the security.
