Missing Buildings in Bridgeport

So I have finally Late Night, yay! But, this expansion really forces you to play the new city because some features need to be manually placed in older cities.

Anyway, while playing Bridgesport with my sim as a self-employed sculptor, he got an opportunity to give a stone sculpture to the Doo Peas Tower. But when I looked at the map, it was no where to found.

Are there more career buildings I should be aware not being in Bridgeport?  :-\

God I hate that.  I had the same problem when I first downloaded Ambitions -- no laundromat / fire station / consignment store / etc in any of the previous towns.  Yes, they include them in the community lot library under "Edit Town" ... but the whole point of having an EA-created town is that it's ready to go, not that you have to spend twenty minutes when starting a new game restructuring the town before you can even get into gameplay.  I got around it by making the changes I want, and then leaving the updated town in my saved games list.  So whenever I want to play Riverview, for example, I just go to my "updated" saved game and copy it instead of choosing "new game".

And don't get me started about the lack of a Book Coral bookcase (and, therefore, any skill building books) in the public library in both Twinbrook and Bridgeport ...

Anyway, while playing Bridgesport with my sim as a self-employed sculptor, he got an opportunity to give a stone sculpture to the Doo Peas Tower. But when I looked at the map, it was no where to found.

I had a similar problem.  When playing my virtuoso Sim, I got an Opportunity to attend a guitar seminar at the Dividsidero Bookstore.  Only there is no Dividsidero Bookstore in Bridgeport, only some tower that combines the bookstore with a few other stores.  I found this out when the button to "attend seminar" popped up, I pressed it ... and nothing happened.  I pressed it again ... my Sim stood there for a second, then the action canceled out and my Sim was left standing there, looking around like an idiot.

I think maybe it's a scripting problem.  The two opportunities are from the original game; maybe they just didn't recode them to reflect the actual buildings and businesses of the new town.

I haven't had any issues with missing buildings but many times my sim was going to do something, the action sat at the top and they just stand there forever and ever and ever so I just end up canceling the action teleport them and redo the action - totally frustrating!

This is becoming one of the first known bugs in Late Night.  The opportunities come up with the old names of the buildings, but Bridgeport has new names for them.  The opportunities cannot be fulfilled, so just cancel those that you can't complete until EA fixes the problem.

This problem extends to getting your professions awards - the ones you get when you hit a certain milestone. It doesn't recognise the City Hall combined building as a City Hall. I'm considering putting one of those in there, because missing opportunities is one thing, but missing out on awards is another.

Unfortunately they did not really give you any empty lots in the city center area to place buildings. I guess I'll have to sacrifice a couple of High Rises to make room :(

Same problem. Cannot find the Doo Pees Towers or Little Corsican Bistro or whatever it's called. Action pops up, then cancels itself.

Looking forward to a patch.

I simply hate the look of Bridgeport and the surrounding area, (especially the surrounding area, I can deal with a dull looking cityscape), so, since so many opportunities are glitched from lack of buildings, I'm using edit town and setting up as many as I can and will then play.  Also, edit town is making it much greener in Bridgeport!  I'm "Portland-izing" it so it looks more like the city I love, cleaner and greener.  I think it will be easier to advance in skills and levels and wishes and whatnot with the "older" buildings available.  So far I have not had to bulldoze anything except that one glitched lot which I am going to build on.  Oh, and I took out Landgraab Consignment and put in Twinbrook Consignment with a new, modern, big city look and apartments, including one penthouse with hot tub, up above.  If you are interested I'll post pics in the building thread, otherwise won't bother.

You could do us all a favor and export that city to the Exchange. It sounds interesting. I'd download it.

As long as it still has that "major city" feel to it, I would absolutely love to see and possibly even download your Sim-Portland.

I didn't play Bridgeport very long but I did figure out that there were several businesses located in one building.

The public services building is city hall, the police station and the military.

Steve's Business complex houses what would be Pee Doo Towers and The Bistro.

Books and Bath is the book store and the spa.

As I finish each piece, I'll post pics in the Building/Remodeling thread.

What has happened now is very, very interesting.  You know how people weren't showing up in bars and such?  Try a remodel!  No kidding.  Just adding a few amenities makes a huge difference.  Today I saw the "new" consignment store was packed with people and the car spots were full.  The school had kids, (and adults), playing on the upgraded play ground, the library with the upgraded look and skill books was packed with kids and grown ups, and the laundromat had a slow but steady business going on.  Oh, I fiddled with that big park too.  Not much but little things like more potties in the building and lights on it.  There were three couples over there chatting.  My experience with upgrading venues for my dynasty is, "if you build it, they will come", and it's exactly the same in Bridgeport.

I will upload it to the exchange but you have to understand it will take me weeks of tweaking and fooling around with it before I feel I can upload it.  I use a lot of store items but no exchange or third party cc.  Just what you can get from the SP/EPs and freebies.

Is it literally Pee Doo Towers or Doo Pees Towers?  The opportunities are for literal names but it would be great to not have to find a spot for that business.  It's really hard squeezing them in and I really don't want to have to bull doze anything else.  I will put in Divisidero Book store, even though there is an already existing perfectly good store, because that is the name for the opportunities.

Caitie, Portland is a major city, so no fear about Bridgeport losing that look.  Besides, it would take too much work! lol

I've been trying to modernize some of the buildings, but really, don't big cities also have some "brown stone" looking places as well as the high rises?  Not sure if you guys would be comfortable with the older look buildings.  Oh, and the laundromat and consignment shop will have apartments as well as hot tub and bars so folks can practice their mixology.

What?  Grannies can't play games?

It is Doo Pees Towers and I am more then willing to wait for a few weeks so that you can tweak it to your hearts content.  I would also love to have some brownstones as that is very realistic.  I grew up in San Diego, CA and they have a section of town called old town where you can see all the types of buildings they had back in the day.  Thank you for doing this for those of us that just don't or can't do that kind of work.

I've posted a couple of pictures of things I've done or begun in the Bridgeport fix, but no matter what you do, the greyed out tone of the very atomosphere will still leave it looking rather dull.  Still, we do the best we can and those who can't handle smog move to SV, lol.
