Painting Portraits

Hi, I have a sim who is at level 8 painting skill, but still has no option to paint portraits. What do I need to do? I choose Landscape, but there are no options. Do the traits have anything to do w/it? His traits are Painter Extraordinaire, Muser, Creative, and Good. Do I need a better easel? Thanks!

The option you should choose is called paint from reference, and is not trait related.  It will allow your Sim to paint something or someone visible to them.
