The Guitar Star challenge on Late Night

OK, I have a question to ask with regards to the guitar star challenge on Late Night EP.

When the opportunity for playing gigs arrive, does that count towards the guitar star challenge? Remember, one must play at 10 parties and venues to get this challenge, so does playing gigs count here?

Well I never played at parties or gigs, I just played at the venue and the arena though I can't remember if I was just being a rock star or if it was the challenge.

I can help.
that opportunity has been glitched since the very beginning of the game and hasn't been fixed since than. Look, although the description describes that you have to play at venues, you don't. In fact, this challenge is much more difficult than that: you need to fullfill 10 opportunities that will come with Guitar. I new this from the guide but also tested it today because I am busy with an overmaxed instrumental Sim.
And to make this even more difficult. The opportunities for bass, Drum and Piano works the same way.

Leto's right, fulfilling opportunities is the only way to complete the challenge. Don't worry though, it's not impossible, especially if Guitar (or whatever instrument they play) is the only skill they know until they finish the challenge, because that way they'll only get the music-based opportunities and they can get it done a lot quicker. I've done it twice - the first time took 10 Sim weeks, the second time around 6. Neither of them knew any other skills beforehand.

Ah yes. Good tip from Ausette to indeed max only guitar first. But if you're like me and wanting your Sims to know absolute everything, you still will have problems with the other instruments. Let's say you've maxed both guitar as well as bass and drums for example, than piano would be even more difficult because you now have to deal with multiple opportunities that will come by eventually.
In my experience, try play the instrument you will fullfill the most at that time. Or even better, do nothing else than playing that instrument in places much people can see you, like at parties. I've seen that most opportunities that came when I was playing bass where bass related. Which seems obvious and beside that pretty usefull to know.
So only focus on one instrument at a time, and beside that, only let you Sims read books if you want to.

But the problem I have now is that my Sim has maxed out ALL the playing instruments; guitar, bass, piano and drums. I have completed the guitar star challenge without cheating but I am still waiting for the other 3 instruments for the opportunity to come out. But my Sim is only getting gigs opportunities.

My Sim has not learnt any other skill except for gigs, collection and the 4 instruments. But the opportunity for the guitar star challenge still comes out despite I completing it!

Any advise??? I don't want to use cheats by the way and now I am in my 13th Sim week.

You can be very proud about yourself for completing the guitar challenges. Be glad you only have mastered the instruments. Now the opportunities that will come will be nothing else then.
But like I've said, play a lot on the Bass for example in places where a lot of people can see you. At parties for example. Than the changes are high the next opportunity will be Bass related.

Thanks for the kind encouragement. Like I said, I completed the guitar star challenge without any cheats. Now there are 3 more instruments to complete. They are the bass, piano and drums star challenges. Is it possible to complete these star challenges within 10 Sim weeks? Will the opportunities come?

I completed them within 10 Sim weeks, but I was lucky to I guess. The problem is that you can't really control when those opportunities are coming. Only by focussing on the skill that comes with it.
The same counts for gardening, as an example: I got the Omni plant opportunities right after each other (within two Sim weeks) because my Sim was gardening all the time.

@ Blanchflower - Make sure you also have that spot open in your opportunities tab.  If you have something else there that has not been completed then the opportunity you are waiting for will not appear.

But within that time my sim wasn't simply doing nothing else than playing instruments at a party to force the oppertunities to come, sort off.
Most of them where sorting music books at the bookstore obviously. Have you made any more progress already?

Bands, unfortuniatly I am not experienced with. But I'm sure other people here are skilled enouth to give you some advice if you need it.
My personal opinion would be doing nothing else than playing bass, piano or drum, to force the oppertunities to come quicker, but I know how boring that could be (sims should be fun to play ). Wel, continue what you are doing now I think. Eventually the oppertunities will come. But yeah well, those can take a while.
