I have dropped playing the piano completely after achieving the piano star challenge and I moved on to playing the drums. But the problem is, now completing the drum star challenge is virtually impossible because piano opportunities keep coming out and the drum star opportunities are not coming out. Granted, I had 3 drum star opportunities when I first began to learn the drums but once I reached level 10 of the drum skill, the opportunities simply disappeared and piano opportunities are coming every once in 3 to 4 Sim days (I have also maxed out the piano skill to level 10 as well).

So what should I do now? Should I just be patient or use cheat codes to make the drum star opportunities to come out?

 ??? ???

I honestly don't have an answer for you. Cheating would make achieving the challenge a bit lackluster -- at least for me. But, assuming this is not a Dynasty character under restrictions, go for it.

That is why I do not like to cheat. Is there any other way to achieve this challenge??? Piano opportunities keep coming out but not drum star opportunities. I guess I have to be patient in this!

I would just drum, drum, drum, and then drum some more. Did I mention drumming? :) Yeah, it's going to take a lot of patience. But, if you're not doing the other instruments, then hopefully those drumming ones will eventually fire.

EDIT: Another thing I thought of immediately after posting -- get your Sim and those drums out in the public eye. Don't just hole him up all day banging on the skins. The seems to be a connection between ops and simply being around Sims.

I'm really sorry Naga and Blanchflower but there simply aren't any cheats to do this.

I thought I've mentioned this before, but you could have overread that: Throw a party at a random location where people can see you drum; playing performances. The thing is, although the skill challenge seems bugged, it still descripes exactly what you should do to POPUP the oppertunities, so throw 10.000.000 parties all day long and stick to the instrument you want to popup the oppertunity for.

Good luck boy, you are already on the good track now. I am very well aware on how difficult this challenge is. ;) So I like to track your performance.

Is it OK for my Sim to play in the subway station? Does that count drumming out in the public eye? It is because I noticed that the tips earned from playing in the subway DOES NOT count in the number of times Sims have watched you perform, although the tips earned is usually larger than the normal tips.

 ???

By the way, has anyone completed 2 or more instrumental star challenges? I find it almost impossible to complete even the 2nd instrumental star challenge. For example, my Sim has completed the piano star challenge but when it comes to the next instrument, which is drums, the opportunities for drums just would not come out, despite my Sim playing the drums ALL day.

By the way, I am now in week 12 day 1 of my game................

@Blanchflower: I asume I was really lucky with the challenges. Because it seems for you even harder to do.

So you've completed piano and are working on drums? Than throw parties at locations in town untill you have completed all that challenge.
After that, start with bass and do the same thing.
Than hit the final instrument: gitar.

The whole thing is actually not that difficult if you think about it. The real challenge is having patient.
Besides that, you have Metro and me supporting you. ;)

Thanks for the tip. So the key thing here is just to throw parties and play the drum for tips, am I right? OK, I will do that and report my progress here.

Jep, that is all you need to do, all day long. Oh, and night of course. Haha, I know. It can take a while indeed. I hope you will be done this year. :P

If it's like the Guitar Star Challenge, only opportunities that come over the phone will count.  If you have any other skills, they will reduce the chances for you to get the drum opportunities.  Are you making sure that your skill opportunity slot is open?  Have you gotten any drum opportunities at all?

@ Blanchflower: still busy with fulfilling your dream(sim)? Yeah, all I can say is doing what Pam, Metro and I are advising you. I wish there was another legal way ingame to force those oppertunities but you can only do it the way Metro and I (and maybe others) where doing it before you.

The opportunity slot is open and my Sim has only 2 skills. They are piano skill (which I completed everything including the piano star opportunity) and the drum skill. I have gotten the drum opportunities when my Sim is low on drum skill. But when my Sim reached level 10 of the drum skill, the drum skill opportunities seem to stop! I keep getting piano skill opportunities!

:(

But my Sim is now at level 5 in the celebrity status and he is getting lots of celebrity skill opportunities. But the celebrity opportunities are different form the skill opportunities as it is filling up the last slot, not the middle slot.
