Cannot get my gates to lock

Hello, i put a fence arround my yard and put a gate on it to try to keep out paprazzies and when i press on the gate to lock it it does not give me the option to do so! It is my third property so it only gives me the options to visit! There are no missing links in my fence, the mailbox and trashcan are on the outside and the home is not built yet so i have no front door. I am in desperate need of help as paparazzies keep coming in my yard!!

The only way I know of to get the gate to lock would be to make it your home, meaning where you live and not just own it. I could be wrong, but that's what I've found out that I've had to do when I have multiple homes.
