The Took Another Try IDC--The Beginning
« Reply #2 on: July 04, 2019, 10:40:23 AM »

We check in on Took Enterprises, probably on a Thursday.  With the Feyline-Nocturne LifeStates Dynasty put on hold, everyone is just bored...

bored...

bored...

super bored...

and well...

not quite so bored.  Anyway, Persona decided that things needed to be shaken up.

Persona:  Alright, team, I suppose you're all wondering why I called you here.
Animus:  Not really.
Anima:  You interrupted my nap!
Self:  (blushing) Yeah, I was doing something too.
Shadow:  (thinking) I hate all of you.
All Pippins:  We can hear you!!
Shadow:  (thinking) Liars.
Persona:  Anyway, I was re-reading our Took dynasty, in which we didn't actually appear, and realized that another IDC would be just the thing to keep us focused and invested in the forum while we wait for the upcoming rule changes and updates for the LifeStates Dynasty.

Animus:  Hey, that actually sounds like a really good idea, but who would be the founder?
Anima:  Let's make another Took since we lost all of them when the laptop crashed.
Self:  Or Wella.
Persona:  Wella would have to marry someone else if we picked her.
Self:  Not Wella!!!
Persona:  So, last time, the Took nose eventually disappeared, so what if we added more unique features...?

Animus:  Like blue skin.
Anima:  And big ears!
Self:  Big eyes too!!
Persona:  And the nose, of course.  Now, since we're Watchers, we basically should have spoken him into existence, so let's go see if it worked.

Anima:  Huh, it did work!
Animus:  He's perfect.  Or perfect-ish.
Persona:  Excellent work, team!  I present to you...

Persona:  Balthasar Took!
Balthasar:  Umm, hi, everybody.
Persona:  Great, so we'll start him off in Brindleton Bay.
Anima:  The big lot?
Animus:  He'll have to bulldoze it and move in, but yes.

Persona:  And we'll actually put some of the buildings and such from the gallery in Newport so it's like an actual neighborhood!
Self:  Great!  So, we'll probably need some time to plan...
Balthasar:  So, should I...?
Animus:  I vote for waiting a week.
Anima:  Yeah, let's just have the receptionist put him on the schedule for a week from now.
Balthasar:  And I'm suppose to...?
Self:  Oh, I'll tell her!

Self:  So, Miss Witch, something about a blue guy...or something...and you're so pretty.
Wella:  Oh, you sweet talker!
Balthasar:  Right, so Brindleton Bay?

Balthasar:  Great!  I can probably catch the bus.
Self:  You know, Wella, it would be a shame if our darling baby were an only child.
Wella:  Oooo, I think we can fix that!

Self:  Oh, wait wait.  I think you were supposed to schedule the new dynasty to start next week or something?
Wella:  What dynasty?
Self:  Eh, probably wasn't important.
Balthasar:  Brindleton Bay, here I come!!!

The Took Another Try IDC--And Later That Day...
« Reply #3 on: July 04, 2019, 11:13:10 AM »
On an empty lot in Brindleton Bay, a lone Sim begins an epic quest...to be bored for a really long time while all of his descendants sloooooooooowly make their way to elderhood so that they can all achieve...immortality.  But he'll be really bored waiting for it to happen.  Just sayin'.

Balthasar:  Huh, that wasn't too uplifting.  Ah well.  Here I am.  This is a lovely lot.  Too bad I can't stay here.  Still, the Pippins said I just need to relocate to the bigger lot after it's bulldozed, so...

Balthasar:  Goodbye, pretty bridge view, and hello...

Balthasar:  ominous prison gates?  Wow, that's a really unfortunately staged screenshot!  Ah well.  Time to get this thing going, right, Pippins?  Pippins?  Hello?

Balthasar:  Huh, guess they just trust me to start things on my own, so let's head off to that thriving metropolis of...

Balthasar:  Newcrest!  Yep, the Pippins told me they'd actually add premade houses and such from the gallery.  Looks like a real neighborhood!!

Balthasar:  Hi, everyone!  I'm Balthasar!  I'm starting a dynasty!
Eric:  Yeah, you might not want to go broadcasting that, big guy.  I mean, lots of losers want to latch on to dynasty founders.
Balthasar:  But not you?
Eric:  I'm going to ignore that you just grouped me in with "losers" and simply answer with a no.  I mean, I've got a really pretty wife and some unsavory founders would try to woo her away from me for her awesome genetics.
Balthasar:  The nerve of some people!  So, you think you might introduce me to her sometime?
Eric:  ...no.
Balthasar:  It was a joke!!!
Eric:  Leave my club now.
Balthasar:  ...I'm sorry.

Balthasar:  A park!  I'll have much better luck here with the sunshine and happy people and such!

Messiah:  Howdy, buddy!  I'm a gardener.  You wouldn't be a dynasty founder, would ya?
Balthasar:  I am!  How did you know?
Messiah:  I'm psychic.
Duke:  And a liar.  Mess over here just saw the plumbob and a new face at the park.  It's pretty common for founders to hunt for gardeners and fishermen on their first day, and this is where we hang out.
Balthasar:  Great!  So do you guys think...
(Young Voice):  Pssst.  Pssst, over here.
Balthasar:  Do you guys hear...?
(Young Voice):  Ditch those losers and come over here.
Duke:  She knows we can hear her, right?
Balthsar:  Excuse me, gentlemen.

Elsa:  C'mon, pinky.  Over here away from eavesdroppers.
Pinky Balthasar:  Umm, okay.

Balthasar: Hi, I'm Balthasar!
Elsa:  Yeah, and you're a chump.
Balthasar:  I...uhh…
Elsa:  It's okay, I'm going to help you out.
Balthasar:  Thanks?
Elsa:  No prob, Bob.
Balthasar:  Balthasar.
Elsa:  You see, I noticed you don't have a Watcher, so I'm taking charge for you.
Balthasar:  Thanks!

Elsa:  Now, see those losers back there?  Those are called "nasty harpies."
Balthasar:  Isn't one of them your sister?
Elsa:  Stop interrupting, pinky!  You need to find Sims who will help you reach all of your goals, but you should probably figure out who you'll marry first, likely a nasty harpy, because if you move in a gardener, then get a wife who gardens, somebody's going to be a useless dead weight.
Balthasar:  You're rather blunt.
Elsa:  Thank you!
Balthasar:  Not entirely certain it was a compliment.
Elsa:  So, let's say, for example, you did decide to go for my loser sister...

Elsa:  if you moved in her whole household, dad's in the garden club, mom could probably learn to cook, I could fish like a boss, but sis is basically just useless nonsense.  As a household, absolutely doable, but with deadweight.
Balthasar:  I see.
Elsa:  Dead weight, but you also get an adorable sister-in-law, and that's important.  Anyway, loser Luna over there has a brother who is already advanced in cooking, her old, crusty dad could probably learn to do some gardening, and her little brother is...kinda dreamy, actually, so I might still end up as your sister-in-law.
Balthasar:  I see.
Elsa:  But Luna still ends up as nasty harpy dead weight, so let's see if there are better options.
Balthasar:  Okay.
Elsa:  To the space ship park!!!

Balthasar:  You really think I'll find my true love here?
Elsa:  Nah, not really, but you're a chump, so you might find somebody who will be adequate for you here.
Balthasar:  Thanks?
Elsa:  Go get 'em, pinky!

Balthasar:  Hello, ma'am!
Moira:  Hello, young man.
Balthasar:  My watcher said you're a pretty good gardener and that one of your nasty harpy daughters might make a good spouse!
Moira: Excuse me?
Elsa:  You weren't supposed to say the "nasty harpy" part!!!
Balthasar:  Oh.  I...ummm...that is...

Billie:  Hey, Elsa!  Haven't seen you around the playground much lately.
Elsa:  Well, I'm a Watcher now, so that keeps me pretty busy.
Billie:  Wow, a Watcher?  How long have you been doing that?
Elsa:  What is it now, almost noon?  About 3 1/2 hours.
Billie:  Whoaaa!
Elsa:  Right?  Well, gotta go find my loser a wife.
Billie:  Good luck!

Elsa:  Alright, pinky, this is a dance club.
Balthasar:  Dancing?  Great!  I'm actually really good at...
Elsa:  Yeah, I didn't figure you would be.  Just try to follow my lead.
Balthasar:  ...k?

Elsa:  Wooot!!  This is a move!  This is me bustin' it!  Bustin' a move!!!
Balthasar:  You are pretty good at...
Elsa:  Of course I am!  I'm a Watcher, you know.  Anyway, stop chatting with the small, adorable, super-intellectual, and amazing child in front of you and chat up the pretty blonde harpy behind you.
Balthasar:  The pretty...OH!!

Candy:  Hey, handsome!  I'm Candy.
Balthasar:  Candy?  Like rotting-your-teeth-and-angering-your-dentist candy?
Candy:  I would have gone with "really sweet candy," but sure.
Miko:  Wow, you're really not smooth.

Balthasar:  Well, I'm actually...yeah...not smooth.  Sorry.  My Watcher's trying to help me though.
Miko:  Who's your Watcher?
Balthasar:  Elsa.
Miko:  ...the small child?  She's your Watcher?
Elsa:  You betcha!  K, c'mon, pinky, let's debrief day one.
Balthasar:  Oh, umm, bye.
Candy and Miko:  Bye!!
Miko:  He's awkward, but kinda cute.
Candy:  Back off!  I saw him first!!

Clara:  Umm, Elsa?
Elsa:  Oh, hey, mom.
Clara:  What are you doing here?
Elsa:  Watching!
Clara:  That...is probably true, but kind of doesn't answer my question...
Elsa:  Oh, it does, mom.  It really does!
Clara:  ...k?
Duke (the angler from the park):  Hello, pretty lady!  I'm sure you're won over by my charms as I'm not only a great fisherman, but also a fantastic potential pollinator!
Pretty Lady:  Excuse me?!?!?
Duke:  I'm sorry.  I'm just trying really hard to get a job.  Sorry.
Pretty Lady:  ...k?

Elsa:  Okay, pinky.  I feel like day one's been quite a success.
Balthasar:  Really?
Elsa:  Of course not, but I'm your Watcher and I'm lying to you so you'll feel better!  It's basic Watcher protocol.
Balthasar:  Wow, I genuinely felt encouraged there for a minute!  You're really good at this Watcher thing!  I really lucked out!
Elsa:  You totally did!  So, let's review our options.
Balthasar:  K.

Elsa:  You could totally move in my family and marry my nasty harpy sister.  My mom makes everybody feel happy, comfortable, and welcome.  Dad's...gloomy, and Sof is, well, kinda worthless, but I guess some people think she's pretty or whatever.
Balthasar:  Okay.
Elsa:  That would net you an experienced gardener or at least someone in a club with experienced gardeners, but the fishing and cooking skills would need to be developed.  Of course, you'd also drastically increase the visual appeal of the dynasty since I'd get that much more screen time.
Balthasar:  Uhhh…
Elsa:  Moving on...

Jolene:  Are you two ready to order?  Oh, and your daughter is super-cute, by the way.
Balthasar:  Oh, she's not my daughter, she's my Watcher.
Jolene:  Sorry?
Elsa:  But you have good taste and blue hair.  Jolene's on the list.
Jolene:  ...thanks?
Elsa:  But you'd probably need to add the losers from the park to help out.
Duke:  Pick her!!
Elsa:  Or, you could go with Candy or Miko without their households and take those losers...
Duke:  Or pick them!
Elsa:  Or just keep the households, get the household's money, and trust that they'll learn the skills.
Duke:  Don't trust them!!
Jolene:  Okay, I'm just going to walk away.

Alina:  So how's everything over here?
Elsa:  Okay, or her with losers since you're giving her eye contact that's not with her eyes.
Balthasar:  No, I was...
Elsa:  The Fyres are also an option with a good gardener and not much else, though you have two nasty harpies to choose from.  The Villareals are another option, but only add experience with the cooking skill.
Balthasar:  Wow, that's a lot of options.
Elsa:  Or, if you want to be more unconventional...

Elsa:  break up a marriage 'cause Nancy Landgraab's smokin'.  Get it?  Smokin'?  Hahahaha!
Balthasar:  Did she take your burger?
Elsa:  What?  Hey!  Never mind.  Don't pick her.  She's dead to me now.  Anyway, we should get you home and settled in since you have an acting audition tomorrow.
Balthasar:  Acting?
Elsa:  Yep!  It's the career I picked for you since it's pretty cool to brag that I'm not only the Watcher of a dynasty founder, but also the manager of a famous actor.
Balthasar:  Wow, your life must be exhausting!
Elsa:  Tell me about it.

Balthasar:  What?  I have a house?!?!
Elsa:  You're welcome!
Balthasar:  Elsa, you're the best!
Elsa:  It's true.

And so, we come to the end of day one for Balthasar Took and his looooooooooooooong, boring quest for immortality.  He has before him the important decision of a spouse and helpers.  If you have thoughts and input, feel free to add it in the comments...where it will likely be ignored by Watcher Elsa.
Elsa:  Hey!!  I'll notice it if I agree with it!  Otherwise, yeah, totes ignoring.

Option five hundred fifty bajllion backup plan: Elsa becomes the founder's wife along with Watcher and manager and lets her sister do some pollinating? That way she's completely in charge of the dynasty and thus it cannot fail? Yeah, I'll see myself out.

Seriously cute start, Peregrine and I hope it goes well for you this time!

Hahahaha!  I would have to be super-patient to have that plan work out.  Realistically, I'm planning to have his decision made (and legitimately have not made up my mind yet and am only through the first two days of play as I'm trying to make up my mind), but...maybe Elsa?  Why not?  I mean, she's adorable and not a nasty harpy  ;=)
I enjoyed your thinking outside the box.
Glad you're enjoying this so far and thanks for the kind wishes.  I'm rather hoping this second Took IDC can join its predecessor in the HoF!

The Took Another Try IDC--Sleepytime for Elsa
« Reply #6 on: July 04, 2019, 09:24:09 PM »
When last we left our bumbling and incompetent founder...
Balthasar:  Umm, that wasn't very nice.
Elsa:  Eh, kinda true though.
he was admiring the house his kind and thoughtful Watcher had built for him.
Elsa:  I like this narrator!  He has good taste!

Elsa:  Now let's give the forum a tour of the house since I'm a Watcher and I'm totally allowed to break that fourth wall and know that the readers exist.
Balthasar:  A little over a day ago I didn't exist!

Elsa:  So...lots of empty space, but a bathroom, bed, and fridge.  That's all you really need.  Oh, and you also kind of need people to move in so you'll actually be able to pay your bills since you have under 200 simoleans left.
Balthasar:  Thanks, Elsa!  You're the best!  But shouldn't you go get some rest?
Elsa:  Nope!  Watcher's gotta watch.

Elsa:  Doin' some homework while I watch.

Elsa:  Checkin' my texts while I watch.  K, I'm bored.

Elsa:  Mwahahahahah!!  Oh.  I'd better clean that up.

Elsa:  Phew, a Watcher's work is never done!
And eventually, Watcher Elsa went to elementary school and our Founder went to his acting audition.

Balthasar:  Ugh, that went terribly.
And he blew the audition.
Balthasar:  I need to go ask my Watcher for advice on how to improve.

Balthasar:  Hi, Mrs. Bjergsen.
Clara:  Call me Clara, please.
Balthasar:  Oh.  Okay Claraplease.  Is Elsa at home?
Clara:  No, strange boy, but you're welcome to watch television with me while we wait for her to come home from school.
Balthasar:  Oh, that's so kind of you.  You know I...oh, my phone's ringing.

Elsa (on the phone):  Hey, pinky!  Stop being a couch potato with my mom and come to the Narwhal dance club place.
Balthasar:  How did you know...?
Elsa:  I'm a Watcher, loser.  Knowing what you're doing is kinda my job.
Balthasar:  ...k...

Balthasar:  Sooooo...I didn't get the audition.  I'm sorry.
Elsa:  You're a horrible loser and a disappointment, but since I'm a good Watcher, I'm going to lie to you and tell you that it's their loss and you're a great actor and you'll get the next one.
Balthasar:  Wow, thanks, Elsa!  I feel better already.
Elsa:  K, now let's see if we can find you a wife to horribly disappoint.
Balthasar: Yeah, let's...wait...what?

Balthasar:  Oh...ummm...you're kind of...
Jade:  Yeah, Dominic and I kind of went for this seat at the same time.  This is probably not my best look.  Excuse me.  I'm just going to see if I can find where I left my dignity.
Clara:  Wait, so you really think my daughter's your Watcher?

Elsa:  Watching and doing homework.  Best Watcher of all time.
Balthasar:  Wow, Chaya, you're so beautiful and smart and funny and amazing!
Elsa:  That's exactly what her husband thinks.
Balthasar:  ...oh.
Clara:  Wow, good Watching, sweetie.
Elsa:  Thanks, mom.
Clara:  Have you introduced him to Sofie, perhaps?
Balthasar:  You mean the nasty harpy?
Clara:  ...yeah, she's introduced you.
Elsa:  Maybe scoot away from my mom, pinky...yes, that's better!

Elsa:  Hahahaha!  Look at the loser in the safari helmet!
Balthasar:  She says her name is Elsa!
Elsa:  Hmmm, okay, she's on the list.  I mean, she has such a lovely name...and that CC hair that seems to show up everywhere these days!!
Luna:  So, I understand you're a new Founder and you're looking for a spouse?

Balthasar:  Yeah, my Watcher said I'll probably end up with some nasty harpy.
Luna:  Nasty harpy?  Hahahahaha!  You're so funny!
Balthasar:  Am I?  Funny's good, right?
Luna:  You know, my family line could be a good addition to your dynasty lineage.
Balthasar:  Oh, I'd already noticed.
Luna:  Really?
Balthasar:  Yeah.  I mean, your brother's already a really talented cook.
Luna:  You.  Are.  HILARIOUS!!!
Balthasar:  ...don't think I actually said anything funny...?
Elsa:  Okay, Captain Comedy, let's go.
Luna:  ...umm...bye?

Elsa:  Since you're a big shot actor and all, coming here can give you a chance to gain more fame while you also spouse hunt!
Balthasar:  Wow, that's so smart!
Elsa:  Yeah, I know (yawns).
Balthasar:  Are you okay?
Elsa:  Yeah, no offense, but you're exhausting!

Balthasar:  Hey, should I go try to introduce myself to that big celebrity?
Elsa:  Oh, absolutely not.  He's a real star and you're still just some wannabe schmuck.  Let's try to sneak inside, though.  I think the bouncer is coming this way.

Nina:  Hey, I wasn't kicking you out!  I just wondered if you're a spouse hunting dynasty founder.
Balthasar:  Wow, Eric so knew what he was talking about!
Elsa:  (yawns and stretches) Okay, pinky, go try to make some friends.  I'll maybe just wait over here on the couch.  The nice, soft, comfy couch.
Balthasar:  K!

Balthasar:  Hello th...
Chanel:  Gonna stop you right there, big guy.  I'm already married, but my gorgeous redhaired daughter could totally be an older spouse option if you hurry up and have a boy as you Tooks are so commonly inclined to do.
Balthasar:  ...thank you?  Oh, hello!

Kayla:  Hi.
Balthasar:  So, you're a celebrity and my Watcher says I'm just a wannabe schmuck, but maybe you'd not entirely be opposed to being around me...or kind of in the general vicinity of me?
Kayla:  Well, that is certainly one of the most interesting approaches anyone's taken to introducing themselves to me.  You're weird, but I kind of like that mister...?
Balthasar:  Took.  Balthasar Took.
Kayla:  So, you said you had a Watcher?
Balthasar:  Yeah, she's right over...oh.

Kayla:  Oh my goodness, she's the cutest!
Balthasar:  Yeah, I'm afraid watching me is rather exhausting.  I should probably take her home.
Kayla:  Okay, but if you want to be in my general vicinity again sometime, I'd most likely not hate it.
Balthasar:  Okay, thank you.

Elsa:  (yawns) Sorry I fell asleep back there, but it seems like maybe you didn't fail entirely while I was out.
Balthasar:  Thanks!
Elsa:  So, you found a couple of lovely married ladies...
Balthasar:  Yeah, I messed that up.
Elsa:  you got in quality time with nasty harpy Luna, you seem to have not scared off a celebrity in Kayla, found a blonde harpy with no fashion sense but an awesome name, and you mildly traumatized Jade Rosa.
Balthasar:  Yeah, that sounds about right.
Elsa:  So, you (yaaaaawn) really need to ( yaaaawn and stretch)...I'm sleepy!
Balthasar:  Maybe you just need to rest for a bit.
Elsa:  Well, maybe just for a minute or two.

You worked all night and worked all day
To help this loser on his way
You've worked to give this dynasty life
By making some girl this schmuck's wife

You spent your day in non-stop work
To try to help this Founder jerk
But now it's time, my sleepyhead,
For little Watchers to go to bed

While the founder in his unwashed stench
Goes off to sleep upon a bench
He has wife options, this beggar's a chooser
Who will get stuck with this big loser?

Which will it be?  No one can say
That answer's for another day
For now it's sleep for child and stinky
Good night, Watcher.  Good night, pinky

G'night Pinky.  Hope you sleep well.  Loving this story!!  Are there no fisher/gardner hotties you could hook up with?  My experience is they are a tad long in the tooth but if they can pop out an heir it's all that matters.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

All of the fishers and gardeners are dudes, so no luck there for Balthasar.  Don't worry, though.  I'm sure Balthasar will get it sorted out...by which we of course mean Elsa will make a good decision for him  ;=)

The Took Another Try IDC--Weighing the Options
« Reply #9 on: July 05, 2019, 08:22:16 PM »
Near a beautiful seaside home in Brindleton Bay, a Watcher is weighing her options.
Elsa:  Yeah, I really need to decide which unfortunate harpy gets stuck with my loser.

Elsa:  I know!  I'll go from one to the next letting them give me their sales pitch.  That makes good sense, right, narrator?
Umm, I guess....
Elsa:  Great!  Guess we should start at my house.

Clara:  I think we'd be a great choice!
Elsa:  Mom!  Loser Sofie is supposed to give the sales pitch.
Clara:  Sofie is a cheerful music-lover and has that muser trait, and I mean, your father is in that gardening club...
Elsa:  But doesn't actually have gardening skill.
Clara: So we're the obvious choice.  I mean, look at how beautiful my baby is!
Elsa:  You're right, I am rather attractive, but that's not really the point.  Well, on to the next house.
Sofie:  I think she meant I'm the beautiful baby?
Elsa:  To the Villareal house!

Luna:  Hi, I'm Luna...Dad! I can't believe you'd walk through here in your bum attire while I'm trying to do this interview thingy.  It's bad enough we have to do it in the kitchen where Herbert is making so much noise.
Hugo:  Name's Hugo, sis.  You've known me your whole life.  Should totally know my name by now.
Luna:  Anyway, I'd make a great founder's wife because I'm so pretty and I have excellent people skills...
Hugo:  (shakes his head)
Luna:  and my family is flat-out loaded, so I come along with a lot of money.  I'll be the trophy wife.  I'm not even afraid to admit it.  I mean, how could you not choose me, you know?  Yeah, you know!
Hugo:  And not that she bothered thinking of mentioning her traits, but she's a gregarious romantic who's childish.
Luna:  I sure am!  That makes me that much more fun to be around.
Hugo:  Or a glorified toddler, but whatever.
Elsa:  Aaaaaand moving on.
Luna:  Wait...I don't...I don't think that was a compliment…?

Elsa:  Here's Chaya who Balthasar thought was so wonderful.  Hmmm, a self-assured, neat perfectionist who's a quick learner.  Wow, pinky was right about you.  Pretty fantastic!  Pretty and fantastic!
Chaya:  Umm, that's sweet and all, but this is my husband, Winston, and we're rather happy together, thank you.
Winston:  That's sweet, darling, now send the strange little child away (heads toward the house).
Chaya:  Still, a dynasty...I mean...no.  I'm married and such.  Huh, to think, me, a dynasty spouse.  Craziness.
Elsa:  I'll take that as a strong maybe!  Hmm, and the blue haired husband could make an excellent pollinator once he's her ex!
Chaya:  Sorry, what?
Elsa:  Nothing!  Moving along!

Elsa:  Speaking of married ladies, this is Nancy Landgraab.  She is not an option.  She took my hamburger and she will pay.  Oh yes, she...will...PAY!
Nancy:  You know I can hear you, right?
Elsa:  And that's why you don't get to be dynasty spouse!  (stomps away)
Nancy:  ...what now?

Elsa:  So, pinky met the girl with the awesome name and the check-in gal at the burger joint and they happen to live in the same random household in Newcrest with some loser who has the same last name as them.
Alina (redhead):  Yep, yet none of use are related.  Anyway, I'm a clumsy, jealous, cat-lover who just wants a nice, quiet home.  You know, because of my domestic trait.
Elsa (but not the Watcher version of Elsa):  Ooo, I'm also domestic!  Yep.  Totally love the home.  In fact, my neat trait means that I clean the home really well and I'm cheerful while I do it.  And a vegetarian, but that didn't really fit in with the whole home theme I had going.
Alina:  Speaking of themes, what's the deal with your hat?
Elsa (but not the Watcher version of Elsa):  Safari so good!
Alina:  (facepalm)
Elsa:  Anyway, there was another lovely lady in Newcrest...

Elsa:  Jamie Sadler, a jealous, kleptomaniac collector.  Not a collector of kleptomaniacs, but a collector who is a kleptomaniac.
Jamie:  Ummm, hi?  Why are you here?
Elsa:  To see if you get to be the spouse for the dynasty founder, of course!
Jamie:  Umm, I didn't ask for this.  Grandma, did you set this up?
Jamie's Grandma:  Nope, but my level 9 cooking skill sure looks awesome for a dynasty helper, just sayin'.
Jamie's Cousin:  Yep, and I have awesome blue hair and am already a step removed so in another generation or so my descendants could totally be dynasty spouse options.
Jamie:  Umm, gross.  K, I'm just gonna go do my homework now.
Jamie's Grandma:  Jamie's such a good girl...when she's not stealing things.
Jamie:  Grandma!
Elsa:  Hmm, sounds like she's going the Luna route and being considered by association with a good cook.  Noted.  Moving on...

Elsa:  It's Jolene!  The waitress who mentioned how I'm super cute!
Jolene:  Umm, hi.  Does your mom know you're out here on your own?
Elsa:  Silly Jolene, I'm a Watcher!  I can totally go places on my own.
Jolene:  ...why are all interactions with you so weird?  I'm just gonna go make some fruit salad.
Elsa:  That's because she's a vegetarian!  In fact, almost all the ingredients for her fruit salad are vegetables!  So, you're materialistic, unflirty, and a quick learner.  Well, you'll quickly learn that pinky is bad at flirting, but the money you bring in as a single will be increased with needing more helpers, so that's more stuff to feed your materialistic nature!
Jolene:  Are you judging OOWWW!!!  I just cut my finger because you distracted me!
Elsa:  Oh, gotta go!  See ya!

Elsa:  Jade Rosa looks way better when she isn't morphed into Dominic Frye's body.
Jade:  Yeah, that was pretty awkward.  Anyway, I'm neat, outgoing, ambitious, and business-savvy.  Not only that, but I was also the ancestor of the beloved Ericka Took from the first Took dynasty!
Elsa:  Umm, that's a different timeline and you're not supposed to break the fourth wall.  That's only for Watcher usage or occasional comedic bits.
Jade:  Oh, sorry.  Oh!  Another good thing about choosing me, if you need pollinators, I bring a couple nice-lookin' fellas along!
Eva:  And me too!
Jade:  Yeah, if we need an in-house potential spouse, Eva's got it!
Eva:  Ooo, can it be Paolo's baby?
Paolo:  What now?
Elsa:  And the sudden awkward turn is my cue to leave!
Jade:  Why is awkwardness my legacy so far in this dynasty?
Elsa:  Well, since we were mentioning Dominic earlier, let's look at the Fyres harpies.

Moira:  Oh, I don't know how you'll choose between my gorgeous little angels!
Siobhan:  Oh, mom, you're making me blush!
Morgan:  You're making me gag.
Moira:  Darling Siobhan over here is an ambitious, self-assured, gregarious, insider and already a young adult, so those grandbabies could happen right away, if you know what I'm saying.
Siobhan:  MOM!!!
Moira:  But our cute little rebel over here is good, outgoing, and gregarious, and even though she's a teen, she's so worth waiting for!
Morgan:  Umm, ew!
Dominic:  And she looks so much like her gorgeous mama!
Moira:  Ooo, keep talking like that and we might have a third option on the way.
Morgan:  So gross.  I just can't even with you guys right now.
Siobhan:  You guys are so embarrassing!
Elsa:  Huh, Jade has definitely been out-awkwarded.  Moving right along...

Elsa:  Candy Behr.
Candy:  Yep!  That's me!  Fantastic spouse material and totally should have been picked for the first Took dynasty.
Elsa:  Stop knowing about that, people!
Candy:  Anyway, I'm an outgoing, cheerful, gregarious music-lover and I'm super excited about the prospect of my kid sis getting to move into a dynasty house.
Yuki:  You realize my descendant actually was part of the first Took dynasty?
Elsa:  Stop.  Knowing.  About. That!  Seriously, people!
Candy:  Anyway, I think Balthasar is such a cutie and I just know our babies will be beautiful!
Yuki:  Yeah, and I guess I can be the slave labor.
Elsa:  "Helper."  We prefer the term "helper" for our slave labor.  It's Watcher-speak for "person we shackle to a job to ensure that the dynasty founders are successful and get all the glory and credit."
Yuki:  Yeah, that makes it sound so much better or whatever.
Candy:  That's the spirit, Yukes!
Yuki: Please stop caling me that.
Elsa:  Next up...

Elsa:  Miko Ojo.
Miko:  Hey, Elsa!  I think I can sum up my biggest benefit as potential dynasty spouse in two words:  purple hair.  I mean, it's all about genetics, right?  Gotta make sure the dynasty line is the coolest looking, and let's face it, I'm gorgeous and have the best hair out of all your options.
Elsa:  And you're so humble too.
Miko:  Excellent use of sarcasm!  You see, as a good, neat, alluring geek, I get to hear and use sarcasm in a ton and a half of social scenarios, and if there's one thing Balthasar is particularly bad at, it's social scenarios.
Elsa:  This is true.
Miko:  But wait, there's still more!  Act now, and you not only get this eye candy to drape across the arm of your up-and-coming actor, but we'll also throw in, absolutely free, these two chumps as slave labor!
Darling:  Who you callin' a chump?
Miko:  And Akira back there is pretty hunky, so he'd make a great choice as a pollinator.
Akira:  I mean, she's not wrong...
Darling:  Traitor.
Elsa:  And our final option...

Elsa:  celebrity fitness trainer Kayla Flemming.
Kayla:  Oh my goodness!  You're the adorable little angel that was sleeping on the couch last night when I met that cute dork!
Elsa:  Yep, and you might be lucky enough to be that cute dork's wife.
Kayla:  Say what now?
Elsa:  Yeah, you love the outdoors, you're an active foodie and you have a high metabolism.  None of that really seems to scream "excellent wife," but let's face it, you're really pretty and already famous, so he'd get instant fame cred just by association.
Kayla:  Well, you've got some of that right, but let's get one thing straight, he'd be the one who'd be lucky enough to be with me and not the other way around.
Elsa:  That's fair.  I'm putting you down as a definite maybe.  (walks away)
Kayla:  Wait, what did I just sign up for?

And so, with her list compiled, her questions answered, and a long list of strong maybe's, Watcher Elsa heads off to make her decision.  It will not be an easy one as she must weigh the pros and cons of each choice, determine the balance of what will make for a harmonious household, and above all, decide what will lead to dynasty success.

Elsa:  Let's see...eenie meenie miney moe…
...oh...

*As a footnote, the updates have been coming fast a furious so far, but it's going to slow down for a bit for two reasons.  One, I'm simply curious which options will develop a following as I, quite honestly, haven't made up my mind on spouse choice yet, and the second reason is so I can use the non-game file I've created with a Sim in the acting career since I've never completed it before (just played around with the first few career levels) so I can make sure Balthasar is set up for success.  Feel free to add in any tips about the acting career if you'd like, and of course, let me know which spouse options you like and why!  And of course, thanks for reading  :=)

Hi there!  Second breakfast being done with, I decided to read this.  Hmmm....  Ok, played the acting career quite a bit.  Loved it, BUT....oh dear heavens the paparazzi and the crowds of needing people!  My Sim could barely do anything and found she seldom could leave her house except for going on auditions, jobs etc.  Depressing!  I got so annoyed I anger quit and trashed the file.  But, in general I'm more a recluse in rl and don't like hordes of people, (except those who applauded loudly when I had a gig, fans are where it's at).

Spouse material.......hmmmmm.....none of them seem excellent to me but I don't know where you're going with this story and the role you see the spouse as playing.  I think, in general, I'd cancel out Luna, (she gets annoying), the Fyres, (too many people, too few skills), and why isn't Eva Longoria, (or however you spell it), an option?  Makes really nice nooboos and I like her better than Jade.  Basically, I go for lack of bad traits, and your choices have too many of them.  Unflirty trait makes it darned hard to have a romance.  They hate to hug and kiss.  Jealous can be VERY annoying.  I would narrow it down to three with Kayla being in the lead, because of her good traits and good looks, followed by Candy, who everybody loves and is fun to play, and Miko mostly because of Darling who I really like.  So, there ya go.  Kayla:  Foodie makes her WANT to prepare excellent meals, Loves the Outdoors is happy to fish and garden, and high metabolism, hard to get her over weight despite being foodie.  The rest, eh, their ok.  Oh, and Elsa, (the Watcher) sister is really cute too.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Wow, thanks for all the great input!  I, too, hate crowds of people, though I have no problem inflicting them on my Sims  ;=)
Kayla, Candy, Miko, and Sofie are all great choices and some good logic.  Of course, there could be good argumants made for alost all of them.I definitely should have put more thought to the spouse choice before I started into this!
I didn't put Eva on the list as Balthasar has actually never met her.  I limited his spouse options to those potential partners he met in teh few places he went (by which I mean where Elsa took him), so while my list of options is long, it could have been significantly longer!
I also appreciate the input on the acting career.  It's going pretty well in my practice file for it (and of course I have an adorable couple with a baby on the way in that one because when don't I have adorable little families?), but I haven't really been doing that much to try to boost his fame, so the crowds aren't that bad.

Let's see -- Acting. The way to pass auditions is to have the skill level recommended when you sign up for one. When you get the gig, choose the risky option if you're at the recommended skill level or higher. Don't choose the Acting Aspiration -- you have to get an award to move up to the 4th level, and my Katrina Caliente is still waiting to be nominated, despite her awesome talent.

I currently have Sims living with the Villareals, the Fyres, and the Behrs. With the Villareals, Jacques will die in 10 days, Hugo maxes cooking on his own, and Max is evil, but good-looking. As for the Fyres, Moira is the most useful. You'll have to wait for Morgan to grow up before she can marry, and Siobhan is in a relationship. Candy and Yuki Behr are probably not suitable for an ID, as Yuki is a loner, and neither one is much into gardening, fishing or cooking.

Wow...Elsa and Pinky have been busy running all over the place.

My vote is for whatever plan gives watcher Elsa the most screen time.  Even if that means her sister as the spouse; although Sofia is only a teen (I think?) and wouldn't be my choice on her own.  You could choose a different spouse and move in Elsa's family as helpers, but you'd be stuck with Sofia for a while.

Jade, Candy, Miko, Luna-- they've all been in countless legacies, dynasties, etc.  They are all good choices, but...not unique.  For that reason, I would favor either Kayla or Jolene.  Kayla has the fame and the fitness skill going for her, plus she's really pretty.  Jolene is also pretty, she has the blue hair, and she's not a pre-made sim.  I've never minded the unflirty trait for spouses, just have to remember not to hug them.

Whoever Elsa chooses, I'm sure it will be great (and hilarious).   :D

As for the skills, if you go the lot trait route and use the Homey trait, Sims will skill up gardening and cooking in no time. If you put Patchy on the lot and ask for gardening tips every day, a Sim with no gardening skill can probably max it within the first week. I've never really understood the tendency to move in gardeners and fisherman (but to each his own on that front). You only need Level 4 fishing to be able to catch angelfish and that's doable in a day, even with a Sim with no fishing skill. Also, even if you don't use the lot traits, cooking and gourmet cooking level up so fast that I wouldn't be concerned at all. I mean, you have more than 40 Sim days before you need to make ambrosia. That's plenty of time to get people skilled up. I would make sure to get a Sim to level 10 gardening, though, because grafting is so unreliable now. At level 10 they can buy the rare seed packs--a good backup for Death Flowers.

In short, go with whomever you think will be the most entertaining, story-wise, and the most fun for you to play. And YES to more Elsa!

Hmm, I'd already chosen that aspiration and was trying it on my practice file, though it apparently requires 5 star fame to get that tile on the walkway, so that's really what I'm questioning.  Got the award right away in my practice go.  Have you had Katrina just show up to the awards show without getting a nomination notice?  I never saw that Gavin got nominated, but he won the award anyway.
I'm prepared to wait for a teen spouse if that's the direction this goes.  And yes, the helpers are definite factors in the decision-making, so Hugo and Moira and others like them definitely are significant.  Yuki as a loner could be good for fishing, maybe?  Hmmm, still undecided, if you couldn't tell, but I truly appreciate the insight!

Hmmm, the "originality" approach.  Yes, that oculd make good sense.  In retrospect, I should have made Balthasar able to get pregnant and then steal one of the Hecings away from his hubby just to throw everybody off.  Totally unique!  Ah well.
Kayla is rahter pretty and Jolene has that nice hair, though it's just a tone from the CC hair, so I'm not 100% sure if she'll be able to pass it on to her children.  If I went with either of them, I'd be looking to add helpres, so that always opens up more random encounters, which is a fun thing  :=)
I enjoy how Sofie got a half-hearted vote from you but only because of Elsa.  So glad readers are enjoying the little Watcher  :=)

Yeah, skills can definitely be built, but I do worry about things and really like getting a head start if I can.  Of course, ultimately, the story's the main thing.  Then again, you're whole giving-me-permission-to-make-my-own-decision approach totally ruined my evil plan to have you brilliant people make the decision for me  ;=)

Well, I'm getting closer to decided and will likely resume play within the next couple of days.  Thank you everyone for the input, and if anyone has still not posted your viewpoint, I'm still considering, so you've got a little more time.  Again, thanks, everyone, for reading and extra thanks for those who take the time to comment.  It truly warms my heart to see my work (if we can call it that) is appreciated  :=)

You could still do that. You can change a Sim once, so.....

You would have to be sure, though, since there's no turning back. You could always have the targeted Hecking get pregnant. Not that I am condoning breaking up a marriage. Ahem. <shifty eyes>

Alt Plan: You could have Pinky marry Lia from Sulani, it's her and her grandmother and I think they're fairly well off. She makes really pretty kids. Once Gen 2 ages up, Elsa joins as the Gen 2 spouse.

Hahahaha!!  Love how innocently you jumped aboard the "break up a marriage" train of thought!  With as lovely as Chaya is and as well as she and Balthasar got along immediately, I am seriously weighing the "homewrecker" approach.  That said, I think the Heckings are safe  ;=)

Lia might be lovely, but I don't have the Island Living expansion.  She just might be a great option for future generations, though (once I own said expansion).

So, I'm getting pretty settled into what I think I'm going to do.  Going to sleep on the idea tonight, and continue the file tomorrow if I still like my decision...of course, then we'll see if it weirdly and organically changes once I get back in game  :=/

Still undecided, but it's because I did a thing.  I saved a secondary file to stage the "spouse sales pitch" shots and used that and full edit mode to just take a sneak peek at what Balthasar's teenaged children would look like with the various options.  Some options were quickly eliminated.  Others became surprisingly strong!  Oh, and I may have toyed with makeovers I might give to the potential spouses, so that also may have factored in.  Pretty much down to two options, just deciding between them.  And may be recovering from the horror of how some of those poor potential kiddos turned out  :=/

Oh, oops. My bad. Do you have Seasons? If you can find Father Winter and move him in, you'll get 500k and a great parent/cook. Good luck on your genetic experiments, I am glad I'm not the only one who does that, lol. Can't wait to see what happens!

Took my sweet time?  Nice!!  I'll have some more playing time to get in, and I might stage some shots with everyone's favorite little Watcher, so it will be closer to the end of the week before the next update happens.

The Took Another Try IDC--How Decisions Are Made
« Reply #25 on: July 10, 2019, 01:23:28 PM »
Having been unsuccessful in her efforts to do "Eeinie meenie miney moe" in order to make a decision...
Elsa:  I always forget what comes after "catch a tiger by the toe."  I mean, I'm a Watcher, I have a lot on my mind.
our brave little Elsa, never a quitter, turns to the greatest of all decision-making routes...

a shallow decision solely based on looks!
Elsa:  Hmm, thought you'd go with "a scientific exploration of compatible genetics."
Oooo, that does sound better.  Let's go with that.
Elsa:  You get me, narrator, you really get me.
And so, our favorite little Watcher, in an effort to delve into a scientific exploration of compatible genetics, seeks the help of none other than...

scientists.
Elsa:  Hey, labcoat!  Wanna help me with my Dynasty?
Labcoat:  Umm, sure young lady.  So, are you a dynasty heir or...?
Elsa:  I'm the Watcher!
Labcoat:  Oh. Really?  Huh.  Well, I'm William Nee the Science Fellow.
Elsa:  Huh, the fourth wall really felt that one.
Fourth Wall:  Eh, I've had worse.

William Nee the Science Fellow:  So, what can I do to help you, Miss Watcher?
Elsa:  Oh, you can just call me Elsa.
Willaim Nee the Science Fellow:  Thank you, Elsa, and you can call me William Nee the Science Fellow.
Elsa:  Done!  So, William Nee the Science Fellow, I have this ridiculous loser of a founder and I want to find out which nasty harpy will make the prettiest babies with him.
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Ooo, that does sound like a case for William Nee the Science Fellow!  Hmm, I don't suppose you managed to go around and meet with each possible spouse and get DNA samples, did you?
Elsa:  Of course!  What responsible Watcher wouldn't?
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Excellent!  To the zoom-in-o-meter!!

Elsa:  Umm, pretty sure this is called a microscope?
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Hey, you handle the watching, this fellow will handle the sciencing.
Elsa:  Science isn't a verb?
William Nee the Science Fellow:  It is when you do it properly!

William Nee the Science Fellow:  Woot!  Look at me sciencing!
Elsa:  Yeah, I guess that works.  So when do we see the...
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Let's see the results!
Elsa:  Oh.  Now then, I guess.

William Nee the Science Fellow:  So, we feed in the data from the zoom-in-o-meter and sample one gives us...

Elsa:  Hmm, pretty, but kind of malnourished.
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Yes, I'd start them on a high carb diet immediately.  If they existed.  Which they don't.  Anyway, sample two!

Elsa:  Oh, went a bit in the other direction here.  Healthier builds.  Kind of bland-looking, though.
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Not to fear, not remotely bland on sample three!!

Elsa:  What happened to their faces?
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Hey, I promised you "not remotely bland," not "attractive!"
Elsa:  A shame.  I'd had high hopes for that one.
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Well, how about sample four?

Elsa:  Well, this looks like the best of the bunch.  I think we've found our winner!
William Nee the Science Fellow:  What about sample five?
Elsa:  Oh, well, she was more of an afterthought, but I guess since we're here anyway...

Elsa:  Huh.  Really?
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Yep.  From a purely scientific standpoint, the best genetic pairing.
Elsa:  I mean, I'd liked her already because...
William Nee the Science Fellow:  I mean, there might be that whole "romance" and "love" nonsense that could mess things up, but if we trust to science...

Elsa:  Oh no, I totally don't think my loser is even remotely capable of understanding the emotions he's feelings, so we'll just go with science.
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Science rules!!
And so, our glorious Watcher has found the scientifically perfect match for the blue loser in her charge.
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Wait, who's talking?
But will they find true love?  Will she accept the ridiculous goof?
William Nee the Science Fellow:  Seriously, who else is in my lab?
We'll find out the answers to these and more questions next time on The Took Another Try IDC...oh, and I guess we'll also find out who gave sample five...
William Nee the Science Fellow:  ...somebody's in my lab (pouts)...

Ha ha lolz, I love how one of the children Sims decides to latch onto your founder and pretend to be the Watcher, but she is pretty knowledgable about IDs.  ;D

Good luck on your second Immortal Dynasty attempt. I have tried a Ten-Gen Dynasty but not really doing well on it because I don't know how to work things right. I'm sure you can go the distance, especially with a very wise child like Elsa. ;)

Hmmm. I think I have an idea of who belongs to sample 5. It's probably a wrong idea, but an idea, nonetheless.

Thanks for the good wishes!  I hope things go well with your Ten-Gen!  I considered one of those, but it seemed like a whole lot of math  :=/
Glad you're enjoying Elsa.  She was actually just randomly at the park and it occurred to me how funny it might be if a feisty child took the reins, so I'm glad others are also getting a kick out of it!

Aww, c'mon, be brave and post your guess  ;=)  I was actually kind of curious when I did that update if people might figure it out ahead of time, so I'm curious if you got it right.

Aaaaaarrrrggghhh!   You did this JUST to torment your faithful readers!  No more second breakfasts for you!  I can't really figure out who the candidates are, except for sample four which was my choice to start with.  Sample five?   Hmmmmm, I'm guessing Elsa, but she's just a kid and not even a teen and quite a way to go before you can marry her.  Still, she did have a great sampling.  Hehehe.

My initial thought was Dina Caliente, because of the hair. Looking back though, and thinking about who Elsa would like already for ... reasons, I'm leaning toward the not-the-watcher Elsa.

I'm guessing number 5 is Not-Watcher Elsa, I originally thought it was Nancy but given Elsa's dislike of her, I don't think she's an option. Sample 3 is probably Sofia, I've dismissed her as an option countless times for how weird her kids can turn out.

I forgot to go to page 2 and was going to call you out on now showing the uglies...I only think the fifth is Sofia because her kids just be homely like that.

Guilty as charged!!  Our young Watcher as sample five?  Interesting out-of-the-box thinking!!

My initial thought was Dina Caliente, because of the hair. Looking back though, and thinking about who Elsa would like already for ... reasons, I'm leaning toward the not-the-watcher Elsa.
Dina wasn't in the options, though I had meant to include Nina since he met her when she was the bouncer at the celebrity club place.

Eh, you can never rule out the possibility of Nancy.  I actually thought her descendants in my first Took dynasty were consistently pretty, but I was never really having her appear as anything more than comic interactions in this one.  Still, if I have some pollinating done...?  And yes, Sofia can end up breeding some unique looking children.

I forgot to go to page 2 and was going to call you out on now showing the uglies...I only think the fifth is Sofia because her kids just be homely like that.
It was just too much of a fun opportunity to share the visuals of the kiddos, so I couldn't help myself.  Created the whole William Nee the Science Fellow thing and played through two days in a spare file just to get the science lab so I could stage the shots  :=)

« Reply #35 on: July 12, 2019, 12:47:34 PM »
We rejoin the Took household only to find that our readers are not being told who the spouse choice was just yet.
Elsa:  Hey, pinky's gotta actually max this career, so no girly distractions from his auditioning!
Yeah, that's fair.

Balthasar:  Hey, I'd like to sell you some drugs!
Elsa:  Ugh, not a smart way to represent a pharmaceutical company, pinky.  And don't you need to leave now?
Balthasar:  Oh my gosh!!
But through his hard work or the fact that his Watcher stood outside threateningly menacing other candidates into leaving the premises...
Elsa: Again, standard Watcher protocol.
the bumbling fool of a Took got the part.  When he returned, we were ready to finally connect him with...
Balthasar:  Hang on, I'm getting a call...Geekcon is happening?  Sure, I'd love to go with you Eliza!

Elsa:  Umm, the married lady who asked you to Geekcon is currently checking out your caboose, pinky.
Balthasar:  Wha?
Eliza:  I just Took a glance at the Took tooshie.  No harm done.
Elsa:  Run away, pinky!

Balthasar:  Hey guys, I'm an up and coming actor.  Can I sit with you?
Darth Vader:  It'll be your death, star.
Dominic:  Good one, Sith lord!
Balthasar:  Never mind, I see my good friend Akira!
Darth Vader:  ...I was kidding.  Please come back...

Balthasar:  Hey, buddy!
Akira:  So, are you going to marry Miko and have me be your pollinator extraordinaire?
Balthasar:  Oh, that.  No.  No, we decided to go a different direction.
Akira:  You're dead to me.
Balthasar:  But if we decide we need pollinating later on, I might still move you in.
Akira:  Have I mentioned you're my best friend?
Elsa:  Well, that was a quick turnaround.  Anyway, it's getting late, Pinky.  You should get to bed and we'll save the courting for tomorrow.

Balthasar:  Yeah, I am tired and...ooooo, nicely staged shot!
Elsa:  I am kind of an awesome Watcher, so yeah.  It's no surprise that I managed to do that.  Now go straight to bed and get good rest, pinky.  Sleep tight.  Don't let the bed bugs bite.

Vlad:  All this talk of sleeping and biting is making me hungry!
Elsa?  Elsa?!?!?

Balthasar:  Oh...I'm...quite content...to stand here...while you bite me...
Vlad:  Oh, thank you, young man.  Most polite of you.

Vlad:  Omnomnomnomnom!
Elsa's going to be so mad at you!
Vlad:  Eh, I have the nose, so I'm trusting she'll be thinking ahead and realize she might need me later.
That's...kind of rational, actually.

He might not be quite as fresh as one might want for wooing his future spouse tomorrow.
Balthasar:  Uhhhnnn…
And the next day...
Elsa:  Time to put my plan into action, pinky!

Balthasar:  I certainly hope Papa Villareal gives me his blessing.
Elsa:  Just ask him like we practiced, pinky.  Stick to the script I wrote you and you'll be fine.  It's just like another acting gig.
Balthasar:  Acting.  Just like acting.

Jacques:  Hold on just a moment so I can turn off "Simerica's Most Wanted."
TV:  So be on the lookout for Jacques Villar *click*
Balthasar:  Hey, that sounded like he was gonna say...
Jacques:  Now, what was it you wanted to talk to me about, young dynasty founder?

Balthasar:  (to himself) Remember the script.  (to Jacques) Sir, it has come to my attention that one of your young teens could have, I guess you could say, a profound role in my dynasty.  Specifically, being the basis of the success for my family lineage.  I'm not greedy, I'm not after your fortune.  It's just the aforementioned teen I'd move in once young adulthood hits and I give you my solemn vow that only loving appreciation and care will be shown in my household.  So, may I have your blessing, sir?
Jacques:  You smooth talker!  I'm so delighted!  I expected you might be after her, but I'd expected a money-grubbing approach.  She gets to be part of a dynasty household and I get to keep my nice home and not live out my days as a helper.  Yes, you absolutely have my blessing, young man!  Luna will be delighted!
Balthasar:  Well, Luna must be a great sister.  Thank you for your blessing and I'll be back to collect Hugo when he hits adulthood.

Jacques:  My little Luna, the spouse of a...wait, what did you say?
Elsa:  Great work, pinky!  Now that the ambrosia chef's in place, let's go get your spouse!
Balthasar:  Ok.  This just seems a little less romantic than I thought it should be.
Elsa:  Psh, William Nee the Science Fellow assures me she's your soulmate.
Balthasar:  Well, that seems legit.  Let's go!

Balthasar:  Hi, Elsa, not my Wacher Elsa, but you Elsa.
Elsa:  Hi!  You totally have my permission to just call me Elsa instead of "Elsa not my Watcher Elsa, but you Elsa."  I think that will save a lot of time.
Balthasar:  Wow, you're really smart!
Elsa: And a smart dresser, amirite?
Watcher Elsa:  We'll fix that later.  Now, less fashion, more socializing!
Elsa:  Yeah, and do you want to come inside to chat?
Balthasar:  Sure!  So, my Watcher took a sample of your DNA to see how attractive our babies would be...
Watcher Elsa:  NO!

Watcher Elsa:  Should've written him a script.
Elsa:  Ohmygoodness!!!!  Those are such cute babies!
Balthasar:  So, would you like to move into my house along with your household so we could get more simoleans to finish the house and we could eventually have really cute babies?
Watcher Elsa:  You are the actual worst, pinky.
Elsa:  That is the least smooth approach I've ever heard.  Absolutely yes though!!!

Alina:  Really?  You live in the drywall palace over there?
Messiah:  Not to worry, this pollinator will make sure lots of lovely future spouses bring in money to fix up the place.
Watcher Elsa:  No one said Messiah was pollinating.  Totally not a thing.  No worries about the house, though.  You guys had a really expensive house, so we're kinda loaded now.  And...

Watcher Elsa:  magic!!  You're welcome, everyone.
Elsa:  Wait, when did you get here?
Watcher Elsa:  Magic!!  House tour time!!

Watcher Elsa:  Well, no.  Glorified top down view of the house time.  Tours take too long.  So, the house got a makeover...

Watcher Elsa:  time for the future spouse to get a makeover and ditch the safari dork look.
Elsa:  But, this is a really awesome look, right, Alina?
Alina:  No, I'm with her.  Go do your magic, weird little child.
Watcher Elsa:  Since you're agreeing with me, I'm gonna let the "weird little child" comment slip this time.
Alina:  ...I'm sorry.

Elsa:  Last chance to stick with this look, Watcher.
Watcher Elsa:  Pass.

Watcher Elsa:  I must be magic.  I made you attractive!
Elsa:  Maybe I was just a hidden gem all along?
Watcher Elsa:  No, this was totally me.
Balthasar:  She...you...you look...
Watcher Elsa:  (sigh) I'll go write him a script.
And with that, we leave the Took household a now much larger household with great potential for success.
Watcher Elsa:  Ahem?
Great potential for success all thanks to the tireless efforts of their adorable and brilliant Watcher.
Watcher Elsa:  Thank you, narrator.  Thank you!

Should not have read this BEFORE I made a bathroom stop, absolutely should not have.  Hilarious!  So, I'm confused, (not abnormally so, just typically so), so WHO exactly is the spouse?  Luna?  What was with the chat with Jacques if she is not the spouse? Elsa Who Is Not the Watcher, Elsa?  I mean, she's moved in and lookin' fine, (thanks to magical efforts of benign and brilliant Elsa the Watcher), so is she the spouse or the just till death definitely parts, spouse?  And dear heavens, what happens when Elsa the Watch ages up?  Will she still be as cute, adorable and awesome or just a cranky, mood swingin' teen with tons of angst and bad advice, not to mention inability to write good scripts?

Yeah, I tried to sucker everybody by sending him to the Villareal house first.  He's just going to bring in Hugo to be the ambrosia chef.  I mean, that boy already has almost mastered the cooking skill, so why have one of my new helpers learn BOTH cooking and gourmet cooking when I can just abduct move in Hugo once he hits YA?
Non-Watcher Elsa is the designated spouse.  We'll be developing that love story as we go forward, but they're just friends with no romance bar when the update leaves off.
Glad you enjoyed the update!

I like Non-watcher Elsa. She has a nice sense of innocence that pairs well with Balthasar's dorky personality.
Congrats on getting him a spouse- now Watcher Elsa needs to shape him up into a better Actor so people won't mistake him for a drug dealer!

For what it’s worth, I did not pollinate at all for my recent dynasty and had no trouble at all finding spouses. There were no housed Sims in any neighborhoods, but the game generated lots of NPCs. I also didn't repopulate because it wasn't necessary and I couldn't be bothered.

Always love seeing a Took dynasty story. The Elsa-as-Watcher twist was sheer brilliance! I recomend calling Spouse Elsa by a nickname like Els or Ellie or Elsie so there's no confusion in the future.

I found getting the Fame stars to be the most tedious part of the acting aspiration, but, if Balthasar takes up painting, he can sell his painting and get fame points too.

Thanks for the input.  It's definitely helpful to know that the non-pollinating route has been done successfully.

So glad to see you back on the forums, my friend!!
I've been going with "Elsa" for the spouse one and "Watcher Elsa" for the all-powerful child.  I think that could work and should help me avoid accidentally typing Elsa instead of El or some such.
Oooo, painting to get extra fame!  That's pretty clever.  Between that and his acting, he should probably be able to finish it.  I'm keeping "Friend of the World" as his back-up aspiration, but this just might make the acting one a legitimate option!  Thanks!!

The Took Another Try IDC--Acting and Reacting
« Reply #45 on: July 14, 2019, 12:58:25 PM »
When last we'd left our favorite pink haired loser, he'd been led by the invaluable insight of his glorious Watcher, Elsa...
Elsa:  Aww, thanks, narrator!
and the scientific wisdom of William Nee the Science Fellow...
William Nee the Science Fellow:  I still hear the voice!!  It just won't go away!!
to move in and court the affections of Elsa, not his Watcher, but her.

Balthasar:  So, Elsa...not my Watcher...ummm...you...your hair...
Watcher Elsa:  Yeah, I need to give the other losers makeovers and then I'll see about writing him a romance script.
Elsa:  Sounds great.  I'm gonna go paint!
Balthasar:  I'll just...umm...I'll...what do I do?
Watcher Elsa:  Practice acting, pinky.  Believe me, you need the practice.
Balthasar:  Oh.  Right.  I'm an actor.
Wather Elsa:  First to travel down makeover avenue...

Watcher Elsa:  Alina!
Alina:  I wasn't sure about this makeover thing, but you really nailed it, Elsa!
Watcher Elsa:  Of course I did!  I'm awesome.  Anyway, just fish for a now, but in a little while we'll get you gardening and learning vampire lore because I want garlic bushes since someone apparently decided to snack on my loser the night before his audition.
Vlad:  ...I have a nice nose.  Please don't hurt me.
Watcher Elsa:  Anyway, our second passenger on makeover avenue...well...there wasn't much I could do with that one and we'll just leave him out fishing as much as possible so no one has to look at him.

Messiah:  Haha, the ways you joke, Watcher Elsa.  Pollinator Messiah, reporting for duty!  So, Alina, you want to be the first gal blessed with my made over glory?
Watcher Elsa:  Hey, Alina, why don't you go fish on the dock?  I think Messiah has this area covered.

Alina:  He's so creepy!  Thank you, Elsa, you're the best!
Watcher Elsa:  This is true.  Hmm, sure hope pinky didn't try anything with the lesser Elsa without getting a script first...

Balthasar:  Hey...Elsa...
Elsa:  Hey yourself, Balthasar.
Balthasar:  You're...you're really pretty and I'd really like to take you out to...

Elsa:  Whoa!  Back off, big guy.  We've only known each other for a day!
Balthasar:  Three days.
Elsa:  I am not going to rush into a relationship just because you're a dynasty founder and really cute and stuff.  I expect you to be patient and kind and slowly win my trust and build a real relationship with me!
Balthasar:  Umm, okay...
Elsa:  So come try again tomorrow and I'll totally be on board because I'm just playing hard to get.

Balthasar:  You are?
Elsa:  Of course I am!  But I can't tell you that or it won't work!
Balthasar:  Okay, so try again tomorrow and...
Elsa:  Yes, tomorrow I'll totally be swept off my feet and then we can safely say we didn't rush into anything.
Balthasar:  Wow, you're a real pro at this whole dating thing!
Elsa:  I know, right?  And can you believe I've never even dated before?!?!?
Balthasar:  Wow!  Me neither!
Elsa:  We have so much in common!  Neither of us have dated, we both have the letter "L" in our names, neither of us is a llama, obviously soulmates, but I won't confirm that until tomorrow.  Hard to get and all.
Balthasar:  Okay!
Watcher Elsa:  Wow, William Nee the Science Fellow was right, they are perfect together!  Ridiculous and annoying, but perfect together.

Messiah:  Oh my.  Looks like some lovely lady sent a gift to the mustachio'd man candy!
Watcher Elsa:  Please never call yourself that again, and it's not a gift from an admirer, it's...Ooooo, an ambrosia treat for a dog worth $2,500!  Keep catching things that valuable and you can call yourself whatever you want.
Messiah:  You got it, little lady.
Watcher Elsa:  He's so creepy!

Alina:  So, why am I learning vampire lore?
Watcher Elsa:  The main reason is it involves you being inside where you might be seen and you're lovely and not Messiah.
Alina:  That's fair.
Watcher Elsa:  As secondary points, garlic will help ward off Vlad's nightly cravings to make pinky into his juice box...
Balthasar:  Thank you!
Watcher Elsa:  and secondly, if a good spouse option comes along at some point in the dynasty but they're a vampire, already having ample plasma fruits and such collected for a vampire cure will be super helpful.
Alina:  I see.  I'm doing this so someone else can have love.
Watcher Elsa:  Exactly!
Alina:  ...I'm so lonely.
Watcher Elsa:  Love that can-do attitude, Alina!  Anyway, pinky's got his first real acting gig now.  Hope he doesn't screw it up.

Balthasar:  Wow, it's like a warehouse, but for storing actors instead of...things that go in a warehouse!
Watcher Elsa:  Get to hair and make-up, pinky!
Security:  Sorry, ma'am, this is a closed set.
Watcher Elsa:  (glares)
Security:  Uhhh, but not to you, let me hold the door for you.
Watcher Elsa:  Thank you!

Stylist:  Well, you're certainly a handsome fellow.
Balthasar:  Thanks, my future wife thinks so too.
Stylist:  Yes, I certainly do, you smooth talker!
Watcher Elsa:  Back off, nasty harpy!  I already picked out a wife for him using science.
Stylist:  ...okay...sorry?  Anyway, done!

Balthasar:  Umm, not sure this makes me look like a doctor?
Stylist:  Doctor?  I thought you said "rock star."  Hang on...
Watcher Elsa:  Done!  And off to wardrobe.

Wardrobe Lady:  So, what role are you playing?
Balthasar:  In the script I believe it lists me as the "hot doc."
Wardrobe Lady:  Got it!!

Watcher Elsa:  Ugh.  Doc.  Hot doc, not hot dog.

Wardrobe Lady:  Oof, sorry!
Balthasar:  I look great in this!!
Wardrobe Lady:  Okay...hang on...and there...fixed it!
Watcher Elsa:  Pinky, focus.  You have to go act now.
Balthasar:  Yes.  Acting.  Right.  Channel my inner hot doc.

Wardrobe Lady:  I think he's channeling his inner hot dog.
Watcher Elsa:  Ugh.

Balthasar:  Wanna buy some drugs?  We've got loads!!  And we can get you loaded!!
Watcher Elsa:  It's like a train wreck.
Blathasar:  Hey, looks like we've got an impatient patient!

Balthasar:  What seems to be the problem?
Patient:  Oh, Hot Doc, I'm so glad you're here.  I just feel so...awful!  Is there...anything...you can do to make me feel better?
Watcher Elsa:  Ugh, this is horrid.

Balthasar:  I'll just take your temperature...with this highlighter...
Director:  CUT!!
Watcher Elsa:  Thank goodness someone ended this nightmare.

Director:  Balthasar, baby!  That was great!!  Such wonderful acting.  Such passion!  I could really feel it!  Can't wait until the CGI people fix your mistakes and the voiceover actor we hired fixes all the lines you messed up.  It's gonna be a hit, baby, a hit!!
Watcher Elsa:  Umm, shouldn't you just reshoot it to fix the pile of hot mess it was?
Director:  Eh, it's just a commercial, so I'm gonna make it someone else's problem.  I wanna direct movies, baby.  Movies!!
Watcher Elsa:  Well, the director set the bar super low, and no surprise, pinky still almost blew it.  Ah well.  Got the promotion.  Let's head home!

Balthasar:  Hey, Elsa, I'm back!
Elsa:  Oh, were you gone?
Balthasar:  You...you didn't notice?
Elsa:  Of course, I noticed, silly, and missed you terribly!  I'm just pretending I didn't because I'm playing hard to get.
Balthasar:  Oh.  Wow.  You're so good at this!!
Elsa:  I know!
Watcher Elsa:  Lesser Elsa, come look at this!

Elsa:  Someone made a mess in here!
Watcher Elsa:  Yeah.  That was probably Messiah.  I mean, his name does start with the word "mess."
Elsa:  That makes sense!!
Watcher Elsa:  Yeah it does!  Good work having that neat trait!  And oddly effective job mopping a carpet.
Elsa:  Thanks!

Watcher Elsa:  And so, as our household comes to the end of the day, I'm gonna put the pinky doll over here in the master bedroom...

Watcher Elsa:  and the Elsa doll goes in the helper room since she's playing hard to get.  Pretty sure pinky was playing hard to want.  Good night, losers.
Losers:  Good night, Watcher Elsa!!

Hot Doc-Dog, too funny!! Kudos to Non-watcher Elsa for making Balth work to get her.
And this maybe a stupid question that I could of possibly missed/forgot- but what is a Pollinator?

Well, that will teach me to go away for a few days.  I missed out on the excitement of guessing who each sample belonged to!  I still guessed, though, and I was only right about 3/5.  D- for me.  Anyway, not-watcher Elsa is a great choice.  Who knew all that beauty was hidden beneath a safari hat, glasses, and cc hair?

Hot Dog/Doc!  Hysterical!  Love the "playing hard to get" bit.  You are so good at this.  Whenever I feel gloomy I go read your story, over and over.  Always makes me laugh.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Been super busy as our we close on our new house on Wednesday, but I should be able to settle back into some Simming time again soon and get more updates going...including a guest appearance  ;=)

So glad you enjoyed the hot doc/hot dog bit.  Just a lovely bit of dumb luck with the costuming mishap for the gig!
A pollinator in a dynasty is a Sim whose task is to make lots of babies to create more potential spouse an/or friend options for the heirs.  It's particularly helpful as a strategy if you're worried about Sims being culled or have a specific family you want to marry into the dynasty later.

Yeah, I was pretty pleased when I gave her a makeover and saw just how cute she really was!  I'd actually originally planned to keep the glasses, but I think she has really pretty eyes and wanted them to be more visible.

So glad you're enjoying the silliness.  Wordplay and delightfully oblivious characters are kind of my favorite things to include in stories, so I'm glad that they bring a smile to your face  :=)
