this is driving me mad. Thought I'd manage to get this done over the weekend but my game crashes every time I enter a household. I've got as far as joining the science career in one file but that's it. I've tried all the usual, repairing, starting a new file, updating drivers, offline mode. I'll keep trying but am so annoyed that this will ruin my participation rate which was 100% so far. Sorry for whinging

Hmmm...yeah, starting a brand new file is what I would recommend. And delete the bad one. I know you know mods are not allowed, but maybe they're messing with stuff too? I honestly do not know much about mods since I never use them, but maybe trash any you have until you need them again? I hope you can do this event, Vesper.

Valerie Frizzle really gave it for all, but unfortunately for Mrs. Frizzle, she came up short in the end. I can't wait to see what everyone else did!

She reached level 5, with 5 tainted serums used, 5 inventions, and 3 upgrades.
50 x 1.18 = 59.

So sorry to hear about your uncooperative game. Have you already tried a factory reset?

My Sim, Frankie Stein, despite setting his brand new Chemistry Lab on fire the moment he got it still managed to

Reach level 7 of his career
Invent 6 Inventions
Create 8 Tainted Serums
And do 5 upgrades

Because I'm too lazy to add this up and I don't want to deal with the multiplier that was my idea to begin with (The Challenge Team did tweak it a little) I'm just going to post my score as a whole.

Total score: 88.9

That should be right as my score should be the same as everyone else who got this exact same result. :P

Well, I haven't had dinner yet and it's almost 7:30 pm in my time zone but I wanted to get this wrapped up first, time to go get some grub.

I hope you guys liked my scientist's name, I thought it was quite funny myself and I hope you all enjoyed my challenge, have fun in the next one guys! :)

Marie Franklin reached level 6 of the science career, and made 6 inventions, 4 upgrades and 6 tainted serums.

60 x 1,22 = 73,2

This challenge is now closed.

29 participants. I think that's the most so far this year, so three cheers for that fact. :) Grats to Nikitachi on the win -- she was the only player able to get to the 8th level of the Science career. Thanks for participating, everybody, and thanks to Rainbow Dash for the great original idea.

Feel free to share strategy now.

My score was 59, so this is not the best example of sound strategy.

Mrs. Frizzle’s strategy was to try to make use of the Charisma perk of calling to negotiate a bonus. Unfortunately, I misremembered the duration of the cooldown for this. She reached max Charisma by the second Monday, but that still only left her enough time to use the perk twice. The first time, it netted her an early promotion, but the second may well have cost her level 6 – She was rejected for her bonus request on the last Friday!

This was worst of Mrs. Frizzle’s bad luck, but certainly not the extent of it. (Let’s not even mention the fires.) As with most of my single Sims, I decided to find her a casual relationship so she could invite them over for a quick Fun infusion via Woohoo. She chose her partner based on how her co-workers responded to receiving flowers on Love Day. This selection method netted her Minerva Charm. They cheerfully leapt into bed. Unfortunately, the second it ended, Minerva immediately up and died! Kind of a bummer of a hookup. This caused a troublesome +3 Sad moodlet to deal with for two days. I should have known better than to let her pair with an elder! I even thought “What if she dies?” but ruled it out as unlikely in such a short challenge. Oops!

Mrs. Frizzle was usually Focused at work (though this slipped near the end thanks to the bedroom misadventure), but almost never Very Focused. She only befriended two of her coworkers, and I wonder now if befriending more of them would have made a difference.

I wish I had not gone for that last bonus call, but you live and learn. In the future, I think I’ll stick to standard work practices to boost performance. And why didn’t I make her an alien? That would have been more on-theme.

In any case, this was my first forum challenge since 2015, and I had a great time. Can’t wait for the next one and to hear what Nikitachi did!

It has been a while since I won an event! :D Happy!

So, now onto my strategy.
I created a male sim with a Knowledge aspiration so he could level up more quickly. Traits were Genius, Ambitious and Geek - but I don't think any of them really made any difference.

And now - what really DOES make the difference:
First of all, I managed to find a greap tip in Nutella's winning strategy of the 2016 event named 'Cloning around'. The tip was: 'DO NOT JOIN YOUR SIM AT WORK.  This means no going to the Science Lab.  Why?  I found that sending your sim to work alone, use work hard while very focused nets a bigger career performance improvement.  Even if you perform all the daily task in Science Lab, your performance will not compared to sending your sim to work alone.' And this is true. My sim only went to work on the very first day and on the very last, where it made no difference. The only reason to go to the lab was to collect enough metals required for the inventions.
Second thing was making a Tiny home instead of a regular home, since Metro confirmed that it was okay in this challenge. I made a 32-square lot which gives great bonuses in terms of skill gains and romantic relationships. So, on the first day which doesn't require going to work since it's Sunday, my sim joined the Good Timers club, took over the leadership, found a wife-to-be and switched to the Soulmate aspiration. Completing this aspiration is easy and not only gives you satisfaction points, but also provides the opportunity to Renew Vows at the wedding arch which gives a +3 Happy moodlet for 2 days each time you do it! Also, I purchased club perks to give my sim a constant +3 Focused moodlet, and I bought him a massage table and invited a massagist every day to give him a deep massage which also gives +2 Happy for 24 hours if there is an incense stick burning nearby (which I also bought and placed). Together, it gave me Very Focused all the time which helped greatly with career performance.

Since we weren't allowed to use Fame perks which boost career performance, I used the Entrepreneurial reward, the Networked Club perk, the Ask for Bonus opportunity which is granted for Charisma lvl 10 (I maxed Charisma easily while working on the Soulmate aspiration), and Hack Work Performance after I reached Programming level 8 (at this level, a sim becomes more successful at hacking). I used asking for bonus and hacking work performance on the same day for a maximum boost so I could get a promotion in one day, and on the times when I couldn't do it, each career level took two days. I got quite lucky, I guess, because none of my hacking/asking for bonus attempts failed (although there weren't that many in total). Maybe that is what brought me a win.

Inventions and serums were nothing special, I guess pretty much everyone had no problem with those. Of course, I just bought all the equipment from Buy mode, because I couldn't use it at work.

I think that's pretty much it. If you have additional questions - please ask.

Alberta Einstein (original I know) spent the sunday before work working on her gardening skill logic and handiness skill. She also went and hung around the lot on willow creek to trigger the roses. I recalled that roses were important in the science career and as usual I was winging it.
The first few days were uneventful Berta got a promotion every day for 3 days. On day 5 the day that apparently vistors show up there was none to be seen so it was slightly more difficult to complete the tasks.
I also noted at that time that testing things on my co workers effected their friendship and theorised that was one of the reasons why I didn't get a promotion.
She spent the weekend creating serums at home and testing them on anyone unlucky enough to walk past the house.
I managed to get another 3 promotions during the second week and spent the last weekend working on more serums and inventions.
I didn't know that charisma effected work its not a skill I intentionally work on and I always give my single challenge Sims the loner trait because I dislike having to stop what I am doing to work on socialising. My sims may be more like me than I thought. In hindsight that may have negatively effected working relationships.
