What I find most annoying about the whole celebrity thing is that, unless your sim is a hermit, there doesn't seem to be any way to avoid it.  As others have mentioned, I've had sims become celebrities just by socializing at work.  I got so fed up with the negative moodlets and loss of friends that I wound up uninstalling LN.  The only way I would consider reinstalling it would be if EA brings out a patch so that your sim will only become a celebrity if you want them to.

It hasn't been an issue for me, yet, but I feel that EA is going to have to address this issue sooner or later.  You certainly aren't the first person I've heard about uninstalling LN for this specific reason.

So....I guess what I'm saying is, hang in there, I have a feeling it'll be in a patch eventually.

I sure hope you're right, Glic2000.  I don't miss the celebrity thing or the vampires, but for my sims to not be able to form bands or jam together - I really regret doing without that part.

Not at all.  That's another feature I'd like to be able to turn off, although it didn't really affect my gameplay like the celebrity did.  But I find the whole vampire idea disgusting.  I mean, living on the blood of other sims?  Gross.  They look diseased to me.  My last game before I uninstalled LN, my sim had befriended Geoffrey Landgraab, then the next day Geoffrey had become a vampire.  I felt like crying (and I never cry over Sims!).

All you have to do to change a vampire back is go to Edit Town, Change Active Household to the one that has the Sim you don't want to be a vampire anymore, make him go to the science facility to get the anti-vampirism thing, and then Change Active Household back to your original one.

Yeah, I know, but changing households causes my primary household to lose their wishes, which I'd rather not do.  Besides, at the rate that vampirism was spreading in my towns, I could have spent all my time trying to get townies cured.   ::)

Well, you don't have to cure ALL the neighborhood, only a few key Sims that you don't want as vampires.

How about those sickly vampire children?  Gives me the creeps.  Honestly, I do not see the appeal and the drinking is a bit too high maintenance. Not to mention the sun melting thing.  Okay I admit it, I am too lazy to play a vampire.

EDIT:  As for paparrazi, I would like to bake them into a tasty pie.

Well, there you go! Make the paparazzi vampires and send them out in the sun!

That would actually be a fantastic idea and plan Naga!

But vampires don't die when they go outside...they just get a negative moodlet and pass out when the time runs out. I'm confused how is that getting back at the paparazzi?

It's not to kill them, it's to make them want to go inside somewhere instead of chasing your sim everywhere or standing outside your gate.

In terms of the celebrity status being a pain, I can relate.  Had my Sim I had made wooing a girl in town late into the night.  Had to send him to bed then and called her to meet at the Library the next day.  I didn't even know she had suddenly gained a star overnight.  Only found out the next day when he asked her to go steady and then to marry him, and then hold a private wedding one after the other and Poof! my Sim was a lvl 3 celb.  Not what I was hoping for for my writer.  Oh well.
