Launcher Problem
« on: February 23, 2011, 12:16:43 AM »
Everytime I open my launcher, then press play, I get an error "Problem With Launcher, End Program" message. It usually minimises the game, as well. I'm not sure what would be causing this to happen, but I find it very annoying, so is there anyway to stop it?

I get something similar, too.  It hasn't harmed my game or interfered with the gameplay, so I just ignore it.  You'd probably have to do a reinstall to get it to stop and even then it might not.  It's just a glitch.

Yeah, it hast harmed my games either, so I suppose I'll just deal with it.

EDIT- Oops, where are my manners? Thanks for the help Pam!

Or you can launch the game directly from the icon in the bin of the games latest expansion/stuff pack (The Sims 3 Outdoors Life Stuff folder, if you have it). I use that way, as it takes quite a long time to open the launcher in my PC.

EDIT: You can see more info on it here. Hope it helps

I do the same thing as ChronicR, because I was having similar problems. I also copied a shortcut of it onto my desktop, so with a double click my game starts to load without the slow wait for the launcher.

Like ChronicR said, if you go into your bin folder of the latest expansion/stuff pack (go to my computer, local disk (C:), Program Files, Electronic Arts, Click on the folder of the most recent expansion or stuff pack, Game, Bin) and it will be called something like TS3.... (for example, the ambitions file is TS3EP02 and high end loft stuff is TS3SP01).
Right click that, and select 'create shortcut'. Then cut the shortcut and paste it on your desktop.

Sorry if you knew all that already :D

One thing that affects the game with that game launcher error is that nothing you install from the launcher will really go to the game; You'll have to use the Download Dashboard from inside the game to install stuff.

I get this or some similar message every time I start my game.  I have no problem starting the game or installing things I've downloaded from the store.  I have no idea what prompts this message but as things seem to be working ok, I just ignore it.

I don't have problems installing things, either.  Everything works just fine.

I get this in phases.  It will work the way it's supposed to for a while, then I'll start getting problem error message for a while.  It's never caused an issue with the game, so I never really bothered with it...so I don't have the faintest idea what fixes/breaks it.

And like Pam, I've never had an issue with installing content, even when it's acting up.
