Engaged in High School?
« on: March 13, 2011, 01:29:27 PM »
I have a Sim married to Connor Frio, and I just looked at her family tree and noticed that Connor's niece Marlene Ursine (Jared Frio and Claire Ursine's daughter) is engaged to her partner Lukas Keaton despite them both being in high school! I've never seen anything like this before - I'd thought that to get engaged, you had to be a young adult.

I was under the same thinking unless it's just a glitch you have. I have never seen this happen so it could be a glitch.

I've never heard of teenage engagements either.  But they can have romantic interests - are you sure that isn't what this is, Ankaret?  If they really are engaged, it's definitely something new to me.

Weird! Are you sure that they are engaged? Maybe they are just BF/GF. Oops, my bad, in that case he won't show up in the Family Tree. Weird, indeed. That's all that Story Progression. Mummy toddlers, SimBot children, teens engaging... Oh my!  :o  ;D

I've been trying to get a screenshot and couldn't manage it - I just got a shot of what was going on in the background with my Sims, not the family tree.  Marlene and Lukas have definitely got the engagement ring graphic next to their names, though, not the two hearts boyfriend/girlfriend graphic.

I think samoht04 must be right and it's a glitch!

Do you have any mods (don't name them if you do)?
Because I have heard that some mods cause or allow this to happen.

If not, that's rather odd! :D

No, I don't have any mods.  I'm keeping an eye on Marlene and Lukas to see what happens next! :)

Thank you!

They've now grown up and got married - thankfully they waited until they were out of high school for that! I saved the game under a different name back while they were engaged in high school, though, and I'm planning to load that up and switch households so I can see whether they're still engaged if I'm playing that household.  Maybe it's just that the family tree is showing the wrong graphic.

Are you sure they were actually teens at the time. I have had family trees show that some of my Sims are children or toddlers when they are actually adults.

I think so.  They only had four traits each, and I saw them going into the high school.

I had a game do this too, once. It was in Riverview. The teens got married as YAs and then got divorced later. It was interesting. Might just be a little glitch in story progression, like Simbots having children with Sims.

[Definitely no mods used here.]
You've played too much TS3 when ... your 13 month old's babble sounds like Simlish!

That's really interesting. I like it when the game chucks out little unexpected things like that, even if it's not meant to happen :D

Once a while back, I had a teenage sim who was able to ask his teenage girlfriend to move in with him with a friendly interaction (and she did).  They weren't able to get married, but normally teens can't move on their own.  It never happened before and hasn't happened since.  I think it was just a little glitch.
Old forum mods never die.  We just get archived.

I'm glad it's not just me this stuff happens to! I don't often seem to get the 'ask to move in' interaction at all, though I do occasionally get sims with wishes to move in with people they're already living with.
