Many happy birthdays!

Indeed! The birthdays are just one after another so far, my next update has three. I feel like I'm continually rushing to get things done and it's all painting and fishing. Then I get the popup for another birthday. Hopefully with the next generation I'll be able to slow down a bit and have fun rather then push to get things where they need to be. Sadly, I haven't had much time to work on Agnes's sculpting and I was hoping to do ice sculptures as well.

Happy Birthday to Bran and Agnes! Agnes needs to leave the house and make a friend or two.

I agree, each time I send her out to the park on her own she makes more enemies than friends. I should have changed her grumpy trait out with friendly.

Time Flies By

*Authors note* I didn't take a lot of screenshots during this time in the game, mainly it was a time for building up Bran's skills and I didn't see the need to have a bunch of pictures of him painting.

I don't remember a lot of my childhood. I made a few friends, got good grades in school and perfected my painting. Dad made sure that I saved all my paintings for later but I never understood why.

I guess I grew up ok, but it wasn't the me I saw when I looked in the mirror so I made a few changes much to the chagrin of my parents. If you can't have a little fun in life then what's the point right?

Unfortunately, I think I took a few years off Dad's life because shortly after he aged up into an elder.

My teen years went pretty much the same as my child years. So far, I have a pretty normal boring life. I feel like there's something that I'm not being told, Dad is always encouraging me to paint as much as I can. Every time I bring up learning something new he tells me it's not necessary but, if I want I can pick up photography. Photography? Is he serious? That's so close to painting that I doubt I'll ever have the desire to start that.

Again, I grew up into an image that I felt was not me, so off we go again much to the delight of my parents. Since I've acquired the daredevil and childish traits along the way I might as well stick with my look from my teen years. At least it won't be as much of a shock like it was when I became a teen.

One night Mom was working late into the night, something about a new technique she just had to teach me after she'd perfected it. For the life of me I'll never understand why it's so important to this family that I learn everything and anything I can about painting. Unfortunately, Mom never finished that technique, it seems Grim had other plans for her.

As we slept through the night, Mom begged Grim for just one more day, but Grim being who he is just wasn't hearing any of it.

He had however decided that even though Mom's time was up that he certainly had time to take a break and enjoy our tv.

A few days after Mom passed, Dad and I were still pretty shook up, really we just spent our time moping around the house. Dad then decided that it was time to explain everything about our life and what my future held. I can't say that I was really shocked, I always knew something was being hidden from me and it certainly explained all these years of painting. Dad explained that he'd had me save all the paintings I'd done so I had a decent head start on my career as a painter, he also insisted that the next day I head down to register at City Hall. After a few choice words and flat out refusing to do so, Dad looked me straight in the eyes and said the topic was not up for debate. He'd also informed me that we'd be leaving for a trip to Egypt and if I wanted to go, I'd best get myself to City Hall bright and early. So the next day, I did as Dad wished, who I am to mess up the plans he's so carefully put into place? As soon as we landed in Egypt and checked into base camp Dad took off to find the local fishing spots.

I decided to peak into a tomb and see what the big deal was, I never did find anything that peaked my interest but some locals were sure excited with the lost treasures I'd found.

A few however didn't think it was amusing that I was "poking my nose where it shouldn't be", their words, not mine.

Eventually, I gave up on tomb raiding and finally started to see the benefits of taking up photography. It would take me hours to sit back and paint what I was seeing but a few hours of taking pictures and I could always paint those scenes later. I got so engrossed in taking pictures of everything that I almost missed my plane back home.

When we came back I decided that it was time to start looking towards my future. I sold all my paintings that I'd done growing up and nearly topped out my chosen profession. One day I was out taking pictures and a girl caught my eye, I'd gone to school and grew up with her but she'd never really made much of an impression on me. Now that she was out of high school herself, she was looking pretty interesting to me. The next day I flipped through my year book and found out her name was Sonja Troutman, she's an only child and her parents are Cyriaque and Staci. Since I had to find someone to spend my life with, I figured I might as well start now and invited her over.

I tried impressing her with my vast knowledge of cars, not that I had one since I'd been using the Kenspa we'd bought in Egypt. She giggled at me and called me on it, boy was I embarrassed! But then she told me that I didn't have to be like the other guys around town to gain her interest, she'd been watching me since we were kids.

I was totally smitten at this point and decided to move in for our first kiss, thankfully she didn't slap me.

Right then I knew that this was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, I didn't even think then that it would be the rest of her life and not mine.

I knew things were moving a bit fast and I'd hoped that her parents would understand. I know I should have handled things a little better and asked for their permission but I just had to have Sonja in my life immediately.

To my surprise she said yes! My life has been so empty up until now, I vowed to myself that I wouldn't make the same mistakes my parents made. I'd make Sonja my wife, start a family of our own and be there for my children rather then push them into a lonely childhood.

We decided to get married at Stoney Falls, Dad has been working on turning the fishing spot into a community park area so it has everything we'd need for our little affair. Unfortunately, since Sonja and I had moved so fast, the good citizens of Sunset Valley didn't agree with us getting married so quickly and declined our invitations. I told Sonja we could wait but she said that she didn't mind and this way she could get married in her swimsuit. I didn't quite get what she was going on about but after telling Dad we were going to go ahead and get married I soon found out. As soon as I'd turned my back, Sonja had changed into her swimsuit and was playing in a sprinkler Dad had just installed that day.

That night we went back to our home and I finally understood why Sonja wanted to be married in her swimsuit, turns out she has the inappropriate trait, looks like she'll fit in just fine with my insanity.

Since I got so caught up in what I've been doing in my life, I guess I should mention that Dad finally met all his goals at the ripe old age of 97. Here he is making his first meal of Ambrosia. I watched him make it and that has to be the nastiest meal I've ever seen, I so do not look forward to eating that one day.

Time For Change

After Bran and I were married the days kinda lazed on by, we were awaiting on whether we had a little one of our own on the way. In the mean time I'd picked up sculpting as a side hobby when I need a break from painting. Bran said that his Mom used to sculpt every once in a while but nothing much ever came from it. I'm hoping that one day I can have sculptures of our little family around the house.

Bran continues to work on his painting. I asked him if we could decorate the house with a few he's done but he insists that he needs to finish up his career first and then he can spend all day painting whatever I wish.

Another birthday came along for Bran, this time I convinced him to stick with his new look. I told him it was time we both grew up and let the past go, he agreed and said he would grow into his look eventually.

Since our house was full of new changes I asked Samuels permission to redecorate the house and much to my delight he agreed it was time. I'd already started on our bedroom the night we got married, I just had a few finishing touches and it was off to start working on our new bathroom.

When it came time for Samuel's room I wasn't quite sure where to start. He commented that as much as he loved the new look of our bedroom upstairs, that for his room he'd rather keep it how it was when Agnes was still around. I respected his wishes and asked if I could brighten his room up with a bit of new wallpaper which he said was fine.

Next it was off to the kitchen, a quick adjustment to make it an actual room and we finally have a real kitchen!

When it came time to the dining room, I decided to keep it simple and in the colors that were Agnes's favorites. I also dusted off the last painting she ever painted and hung it up as the focal point.

Here's a quick shot of the room that Samuel has been working on for himself. It has one of his prized fish that he's caught, the portraits that Agnes did of him during their years together and a couch for those days when he just needs to get away. It also has a picture that Bran took of him playing in the garden sprinkler.

We'd decided that the next morning we'd start out with Bran's adult portrait early since we'd barely gotten his young adult one done. But to my surprise just as I was sitting down to a grilled cheese sandwich we finally got the news we were waiting on. Soon Bran and I would have a little bundle of joy! I have high hopes for our baby, Bran said that ever since his Mom passed the house just hasn't been the same. I really wish I would have gotten to meet her, it'd be nice to have a female around the house.

I was so excited when Bran woke up that I couldn't wait to tell him the news, I practically pounced on him as he came down the stairs and into the dining room.

We haven't had time to tell Samuel our good new yet. He's been spending a lot of time across the street fishing at Summer Hill Springs which Bran and I just recently finished upgrading. Bran felt that the longer we kept Agnes's urn in the house the worse off his father would be. In the end we turned the area into a family cemetery and an outdoor area for outings.

When we finally did tell Samuel he excused himself after congratulations, Bran later found him across the street talking to Agnes. Hopefully our little bundle of joy can bring some happiness back to Samuel.

Finally, I decided that it was time to break the news to my parents. My father and I haven't spoken since Bran and I got married, I can only hope that one day he'll see how happy we are and that I made the right decision. My mother however came over as soon as she could and can't wait for her grandchild to be born.

Which turns out that she didn't have to wait long at all, the next day I headed down to the spa for a girls day and right after my massage I went into labor. The people that work at the spa really lost it, I guess they'd never seen anyone go into labor before.

I called Bran and headed off the hopsital, as soon as I said "the baby is coming" I heard the phone drop. I sure hope Bran is a little more careful on his drive over here, we certainly don't need both of us stuck in the hospital the day our baby is born.

And introducing our little Warren Hauptman, I have a sneaking suspicion with how active he was during the pregnancy that we have a little athlete on our hands.

Samuel is spending a bit more time at home these days, still not as much as we'd like but he's making an effort. I'm not sure that he's too fond of our new butler, after he was done playing with Warren, he walked off muttering about how there's no privacy anymore.

With everything that's been going on I've barely had time to work on my sculpting. I was really hoping to get one of Warren as a toddler but before I knew it, it was his toddler birthday.

Grandpa Samuel has taken it upon himself to teach little Warren how to walk, I think it's adorable how he dotes on him.

Bran started to teach Warren how to talk one day, I don't think I've ever seen anything more cute than my two boys sitting there chatting the day away.

Thank you all and yes Cathy, it was very close. That's the reason the updates are so close together and the last one is huge. I was afraid that he wasn't going to make it so I kept sending him off on vacation to finish up the last of his requirements. By the time that Samuel was able to eat his ambrosia, I kinda got caught up in Bran's life and didn't realize how much I'd played.

Yay *\o/* Sam made it!   Congratulations on immortality for your founder and Warren is so cute! When Bran aged up he looked a little like Mortimer Goth there for a second.

And I love the peter rabbit wallpaper in the nursery.   I just downloaded that pattern from the exchange and am trying to figure out how to make it work in one of the many game files I have haha

I absolutely adore your presentation of your story.  Is that a photobucket effect for the pictures?

For the wallpaper I had to go into the create a style tool and change out the top. I couldn't find anything decent for a nursery and then I stumbled across that and fell in love. I think I ended up downloading all the ones I could find and they were listed under fabric and paint. I'm still attempting to dig through BlueMurders studio on the exchange but so far I'm only at page 120 for just the patterns.

For the borders on screenshots that is indeed from photobucket. I didn't want to just do normal screenshots, I wanted the story to have more of a photo album feel to it.

I've been playing off and on this morning and Warren is about to age up to toddler :D

Yeah I'm only at like page 200 and I've noticed that some patterns still don't show up in my game.  Oh well.  Some of the ones that do are stunning though.

I actually just put my dynasty down to finish out off my writing challenge.  I have been slowly reading a lot of dynasties and I remembered that I needed to finish mine.  Whoops lol.

Good luck and I can't wait to see the next update!

WOOOOOOOT, I just noticed your thread my dear friend!  I was off on TSM for a couple of weeks and have not been keeping up with all my reading.  I'm so glad you decided to jump right in to a dynasty - I love your story and especially the photo album style!

Belated congrats on all that has happened and condolences on Agnes' passing.  Can't wait to see what happens next.  :)

The Chain Continues

Bran is a much better father than I was, everyday I see him in little Warren's room playing some sort of game with him. Really makes me wish that I'd done things a bit differently when he was younger. At least now I can start to make up for time lost even if it's been so many years.

The days fly by for my grandson, we've taught him all the skills he needs for building a bright future. Before we knew it, it was time for him to leave his toddler years behind. In a change of pace for our house we'd decided to throw our first party in honor of this event.

Warren seems to be taking after both his parents quite well.

Here's a peak into the room Sonja has done up for Warren, she started on his bathroom as well but decided it would stay plain but functional until Warren met his future spouse.

Sonja and Warren spend quite a bit of time outside. Usually by the time he's off from school she's already outside keeping herself busy, so they end up just sitting down and working on his homework.

One night while I was out fishing for angelfish Agnes decided to make her first appearance since she passed on. At first I was horrified but after my initial shock I realized I could have more time with her this way. Unfortunately, as soon as I got over myself and tried to greet her, she was hopping into a car and taking off. I'm quite curious as to where she was going in such a hurry.

Sonja has finally figured out the technique to keeping her ice sculptures from melting. She was so excited once she perfected this that she immediately made Bran and I pose for her first non-melting sculptures.

Time seems to have this odd way of passing in our house. One minute the days are dragging on and then before you know it, you're wondering where all the time went. Once again it was time for a birthday, I fear we have another coming up quite soon for Bran as well. This time though it was time to put Warren's childhood years behind and make way for the hopefully not too wild teen years.

Now normally, in our family everyone rushes off to the mirror and dresser for a change of style after a birthday but not our Warren. He immediately saw something that was pleasing to his eye and set out to make it his. This is Angeline John, they ended up talking until the wee hours of the morning. Eventually I had to tell Warren it was time to pack it in and get some sleep.

Only then did Warren decide it was time to hit the mirror and dresser for his new look, he sure has a thing for pink, to each their own I guess.

As I was heading off to bed myself I happened to come across Bran in the living room turning the stereo on. I guess he felt it wasn't time for the party to end, looks like he's been practicing his moves a bit more than we've all realized.

And as I predicted it was indeed time for Bran's elder birthday. I love my son to death but he's still lacking three friends before I'll make him his first ambrosia. He's not the most social person so I may have to give him a slight push.
