Bad Mood in Bridgeport
« on: April 06, 2011, 04:25:01 PM »
I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, I tried searching but I usually seem to have no luck witht that.

I have a Sim living in an apartment in Bridgeport and her mood is almost always bad. At one point she had +110 from her moodlets and was uncomfortable. The only time I saw her elated was when she had 9 positive moodlets, and that was barely elated. She is often orange or red when not in the main room of her apartment. Is this a bug? Am I missing something? Is she cursed?    ???

And thanks for this site! I use it often and have found a lot of great tips, help and such.

Update: It's so bad that she can't repair anything in her bathroom even though she's handy and has 7 handiness points. I put 3 of her own paintings on the wall so it's decorated and put a boombox in for her favorite music but she's in too bad of a mood to finish the repair. So I have to waste money on a repair person.

Welcome to the Forum, Corgi Cat.

This is a known bug in the game.  It can be fixed by purchasing an expensive bed for your Sim or by restarting the game.  The restart will be a temporary fix because it will eventually come back until you get an expensive bed.

Thanks for the reply and the welcome Pam!

How expensive of a bed? She has the one that costs just under $2000 and has stats of something like 8, 5 and 5. It's a 2 person bed. Not sure on the name or exact stats of the bed as I'm not on the computer I play the game on.

I've heard that a bed with +++ comfort is the best thing.

Thanks again!

I will try that tonight when I get home.

It worked! I never noticed the + rating for comfort before.

From my experience, none of the +++ rated double beds will cause this moodlet.  Also, any twin bed that has a corresponding double bed style with a +++ rating does not seem to cause it, either, even though they are only rated ++.  Also, I have never seen the Vampiric Slumber bed cause this glitch.

This glitch appears to be linked to the "Well Rested" moodlet somehow.  In games where my sims could not afford a good bed right away, I would cancel the sleep action before they were fully rested and their mood would not be affected (doing so would result in the "Bad Night's Sleep" moodlet, though).  However, since this glitch does not seem to happen every time a sim sleeps, this may very well just be a coincidence.

Hmmm, if it is the moodlet that is causing the issue will using a cheat to delete it sort out the problem? I haven't had the glitch... yet, but it does sound like a very frustrating one.

If you're referring to the "Make Needs Static" cheat, then No.  It doesn't fix the bad mood.  That's what's so annoying about it...

I myself have been getting this glitch on and off since installing Late Night - and it doesn't seem to be limited to Bridgeport for me...  I've always restarted my game but now I can't wait to try the New Bed work around! Thanks Pam!  I can't tell you how much time you just saved me!  :D

No, she's referring to using the testing cheat to remove the moodlet itself.  And while I've never tried it, I doubt that this would work.  The decrepit moods persist even after the moodlet expires, which actually allows this effect to stack.  After 3 times, your mood bar is in the red even though all of your needs are maxed.

I tried to use the mailbox cheats to make her happy. I removed the one negative moodlet, I think it was dirty surroundings. I didn't know that it was the well rested moodlet at the time so I left it. With her needs all full, no negative moodlets and several positive ones her mood bar was not even half full.

The only way I know of to fix it after it happens is to save the game and exit to the main menu.  After you reload the game, their moods will rise to where they should be the moment time starts moving again.

I'm playing in Twinbrook and this glitch/bug is affecting my game as well. My Sims have a great home, decor, furniture and they are doing great on building skills. They have met their lifetime wish and they still have a fully red mood bar. No matter what I do it doesn't change it, except like Hosfac said, save and close the game and then reload again, but it is only a temporary fix. Hopefully EA will fix this soon.

Getting a better bed is a more permanent fix.  You need a double bed that has a +++ rating.  Also, any twin bed that is the same style of a double bed with a +++ rating will prevent this from happening.

The well rested moodlet is bugged.

    - If it says +10, then it decreases your mood by 10 when it pops up, and decreases it by 10 again when it runs out. Netting a -20 on your base mood every time you sleep.

    - If it says +15, then it increases it by only 5, then decreases it by 15 when it runs out. Netting you a -10 on your base mood when it runs out.

    - If it says +20, then it increases it by 20, then decreases it by 25 when it runs out. Netting you a -5 on your base mood.

    - If it says +25, then it increases it by 25, then decreases it by 25 when it runs out, being the only unbroken number.

    - If it says +30, then it increases it by 30, then decreases it by 25 when it runs out, netting you a +5 to your base mood.

I've read forum rules, I know that we can't talk about mods, but if I know a mod that can fix this annoying problem, can't you make an exception?

No exceptions to that rule.
