Butlers!
« on: June 17, 2011, 06:57:02 PM »
I recently got a butler for my sims and all of them do nothing! All they do is cook. I had the parents go out and two babies were there. They went into the red and the butler was just complaining about how loud they were.
All of my butlers have done that. They also pick up the laundry from the basket and dump it on the floor. I have to have my sim put it in the machine. Anybody know why they are doing that?

Mine was doing that too recently. I had to fire him because I was doing all the work anyways.
I do not know what's causing this though. The maid does more work than him. All eat is plasma fruits so I honestly don't need him.  ::)

The female butler pnly cooked and drank coffee all day. The male butler did the laundry, cooked, fed and played with the kids and gave my sim great massages.

It may be trait-related.  Family-oriented butlers will care for the kids, and those with the neat trait will keep the house tidy.  Of course, there is still a good chance that they will goof off and just take care of their own needs.

Also, was this recently broken for you guys or has it been like this for a while?  If it's recent, it could be patch-related.

I've had butlers who kept the house spic and span and were great to have around. Other ones were a waste of their paycheck. Maybe it's like real life, keep firing them until you get one that suits you.

The female was a klepromaniac. The male was family-oriented, a hopeless romantic, natural cook, neat and a bookworm (Bertram in Bridgeport).

You can edit your butler with CAS. Change their traits if you're not happy with them. I usually go in and change their looks, age...and sometimes sex.

If you never tried this before, wait till they goto sleep or ask them to join you in the swimming pool or hot tub when you attempt to change them.

Never thought of changing the butler in CAS, I'll do that next time. Thanks for the tip.

What is the purpose of doing that? Does it do something to them that allows for that option, or does it just keep them in one place so that it's easier to click on them?  Also, how do you go about changing in CAS without any mods?

I NEED a butler in real life, because I'm addicted to the sims. In virtual life, they keep my sims happy with clean laundry, and make the foods that are my sism's favorite. You need to befriend the butler.

My first Butler has been so busy keeping things clean I'm afraid he'll fall asleep on his feet. Not all are useless.

My internet connection went out on me the day after my last post and I got it running again a few hours ago. Anyways, to answer your question, you can only edit them when they are not wearing their butler outfit. Thus you can wait till they goto sleep in bed or ask them to join you in the pool or hot tub. After they change outfit, you'll be able to edit them in CAS.

Simply press Shift + Ctrl + C. Than type Testingcheatsenabled true and press enter. Than Shift + left mouse click on the butler and you'll get a few options to edit him/her.

My butler went away and never returned. When the second child was born he was just gone. The bed is still "set as butler Bertram's bed"; but he's gone. An extended vacation perhaps? My sim hates doing housework, she loves the clean clothes, but doing laundry is interferring with her party time. Can't hire another one, because supposedly he's not gone. It's been 4 days.

No, instead I used the phone to hire another butler and got a total disaster. He's not as good and I want Bertram back. Sigh! Tries inviting him over; but, healways had these thoughts about children, etc. Guess he ran away and got married. He was  getting a little to close to my sim when she asked for a massage during pregnancy.
I'm going to fire the replacement and see if I can get him back. He was a great cook and there was never anything dirty in the house.
