What is snubbing?
« on: June 18, 2011, 06:33:40 PM »
My teen sim Jocelyn Duit got the option to start snubbing someone. I didn't know what it is so I thought: 'go ahead and try.' But now I still don't know what it is. Seems like nothing happend. Does this mean she will totally ignore that person, or make strange noices at him?

Well, yea. Snubbing is like ignoring someone, so... Never tried it in game, though, so I'm not sure what the effects are.

I think it has something to do with making enemies with another Sim. I tried it once too and nothing happened, but the other day I started playing with a new family and right after moving them in, I got this message saying that my teen sim's classmate had started snubbing at her, and I looked at their friendship status or whatever it's called in the english version, and their relationship was almost as bad as it can be.

Which makes sense, because I think snubbing means like looking down on someone or humiliating them, right? Soeey, I have the spanish version... hehe.

Snubbing is to insult someone deliberately or to behave coldly toward another person or even to ignore another person altogether.   Like a rich person would do to a poor person - they either ignore them totally or give them the cold-shoulder treatment.  So Frey, you are correct as it does mean to look down on someone.

My Sim teen had an option to 'snub' when they tried to talk to another teen at the library.  I picked that option and yes, the red enemy pop-ups showed up so I sent my Sim home right away.  Wish I knew Simlish better so I could understand what he actually said to her ???.

My teenager just had a wish to start snubbing her sister.  She's having a bad day to begin with and gets special wishes.  Snubbing was like a toggle switch.  I could start snubbing her sister, then immediately stop snubbing.  I didn't leave it on very long because I got a message that other Sims would notice.  She's gotten the points for the wish, so there was no need to keep snubbing.  Their behavior would probably be different toward each other while snubbing.  The mood swings are funny, too.  She's also got a wish to beat someone up.  They show up with a purple background and seem to be worth a little more than normal wishes.  For example, the start snubbing wish was 575 points, I believe.

When you snub, your sim will pretty much refuse to socialize with another sim. I never do snubbing because it can ruin a sim's relationship with another sim.

I've had non-rebellious sims have the option to snub other sims as well actually. I'm not sure, but I think not all my sims have the option though. Maybe it has something to do with their mood status being low?

Well, you could expect that indeed. But it actually got triggered after my teenage sim got that weirdo moodlet which got described as 'being a teen.' It triggers a lot of extreme wishes like beating someone up or break the friendship with your mother/father, no matter how good that was before.
Hmmm, looking back now to my own teenage life I guess I just was a neat teen Leto. Never beaten someone up or anything. Did I miss some important educational thing because I didn't? :P

Never mind, non-rebellious sims have it too. Summer was recently snubbed by her romantic interest after she broke up with Shark, but it fixed right up with a chat on the phone.

After the phone she stopped automatically snubbing?

Ya, I got a pop-up saying that "the realionship my be in trial if she didn't do anything soon." Right after the call she stopped snubbing.

I just did a quick check with my Baby Boomer family.  My non-rebellious teenage Sim had the option to snub all 4 of her teenage sisters.

I got the option to snub this entire forum, but I'm afraid it won't do me any good at all. :P (just kidding)

But it is pretty weird that all teenage sims will get that option, rebelious or not. It sounds like every teen is anoying or so (face it: snubbing IS annoying) but I'm sure that doesn't count for any teen. It also seems to be unaffected by the relationship a sim has with the other sim, so that made even less sense to me.
