Mysterious Mr.Gnome aging up?

I have never a mysterious Mr.Gnome on my lot so I don't know if this is normal, but my gnome aged up to elder. It has glasses and a really long beard.
It's cute 
Maybe it's mad because the apple trees are bigger than him.

That's a new feature of Generations. The mysterious Mr Gnomes can now have babies too... and they are very cute!

They can have babies? Oh that's so cute! I'll need to get the LN vampire gnome. I want more gnomes causing trouble in my house, braking things

I believe it is only the mysterious gnomes that can have little ones and they are the only ones that age up.  At least I read that somewhere.  I could be wrong.

My gnome aged up too.  Do they die after they get old?

They do die.  They leave behind a gnome statue that looks like it's made of gold and marble and it's their version of a tombstone.
