Observations on post-Generations weddings
« on: June 24, 2011, 05:18:37 PM »
I had my first post-Generations wedding.

You have to admit that before Generations having a wedding was like trying to get cats to walk in a parade.  It's not a lot better now but it seems more like a wedding.  It seems a little one sided because you can invite the groom's friends or friends of the bride, not both.

 I set the wedding for 6PM. Guests started showing up at 5:15 and some left right away saying what a great party it had been. Some guests roamed the house and some picked at the buffet table.

At 6PM Claire Ursine and Christoper Steel stood under the arch.

 (Yes, I married those two. She kept having the "want to get married wish and he flirted with her in a bar. When a girl wants to get married what else can she do?)

I kept Claire from running off to her night job as get away driver but before she cut the cake she still changed to her sleazy criminal career outfit. She cut the cake in the red top and tight pants.  Beau Andrews helped with the clean up. He walked around the house and licked the plates clean.  Then after everyone went home I noticed that Belle Bachelor was still there. She was stuck by the arch just clapping and clapping. At midnight  I just added her to the household so I could reset her. Now she's living in the new Steele household.

All in all I would have to say I've been to worse weddings in my life.

What have your weddings been like?

In the weddings that I've had, my guests have gone home early too. I've had a sim once that just stood there clapping but I just deleted her, can't you just re-set people who arnt in your household?
In my latest wedding, the bride just kept playing drums and the groom just wanted to eat. :/

I didn't have the heart to delete her. She's kind of cute. I didn't know if I could reset Sims not in the household so I just added her.

@Schipperke
       It was pretty funny. I wish I had taken a screen shot of Beau licking the plates.

The last wedding I had was a disaster. The setting was lovely, all the guests arrived, but the chapel was a little small and the couple kept getting blocked from reaching the arch by dancing guests. It took about an hour for the couple to reach the arch and get married. While watching the wedding, the father of the bride wet himself. Then a guest wet herself. Then while cutting the cake and waiting to get a slice, the groom wet himself. There were 4 toilets, but the waiting and watching and delays did a number on the sims with full bladders. There were puddles everywhere!

Mine went like this:
The Characters: Raisa and John Keaton (the Keatons' child)
The Story: Raisa bought the wedding arch, and John created the wedding adgenda, I made a wedding chapel near their house. After that, John took out all of his knomes (only two), and placed them by the arch. Raisa then bought the wedding cake. And then the guests arrived. I forgot to get Raisa a real wedding dress, but since she's insane, she wore her swimsuit (which reveals too much-lol). And then the wedding happened. The two knomes got together and so did the couple. And they were both wed. I didn't even notice the knomes! Then, John cut the cake, and well, they all pigged out. And then, Malcom (who was an adult suffering a midlife crisis) came and crashed the party. And then of course no one decided to help clean up, and I had a lot full of dirty dishes. But what was the worst, was when all of the Alvi's decided to wet themselves. Raisa then decided to take a shower, but someone set a boobytrap for the shower, so she came out with pink hair. All of the guests eventually either wet themselves, passed out, drowned, or starved. Grim seemed to be the star of the attention, and left graves for party favors. I swear, my lot is deemed as a graveyard. And by the end, it seemed like none of the original townies were left (which was true), and the town felt empty. Oh well some townies survived, but it seemed like my wedding was one of those 'Survivor' TV shows.

@RunAmokSims:

Yes, you can reset Sims outside your household.  It works exactly the same way.

Guess my weddings have been very dull (i.e. normal). No one wet themselves, though 2 guests went skinny dipping during the ceremony. The guests had to finally be asked to leave so the couple could WooHoo. The husband's BFF stayed dancing until morning.

Your pretty lucky MoMoll. All of my sims' weddings are disastrous! I mean really, it seems like every wedding the guests either die, wet themselves, or keep dancing and eventually starve to death. :P

The only thing that happened at mine, is a couple of the guests kept throwing confetti, I guess that was a glitch.

On the subject of inviting guests, when you call and invite guests, in the list, if you mouse over the guests, it will show who is who's friend, so you can invite friends of both the bride and groom. :)

In my case they didn't have any common friends so it was one or the other.

Just for clarification, RunAmokSims, the list of Sims your Sim can invite to a party is a comprehensive list of all acquaintances/friends of every Sim in your household. So if Sim 1 calls to organize a party, the list will not only include the acquaintances/friends of Sim 1 but also those of Sims 2 through 8, depending on how many Sims are in your household. This is what Salty meant about inviting friends of both the bride and the groom. If the bride calls, the grooms friends are on the list of possible guests she can invite, and vise versa.

Well the last wedding (new game) was a disaster! While I was watching the male sim (Matt Hamming); Cheri was at a party and Matt's BFF (Richie Striker) gave her flowers and when I finally went to see how she was doing at the party, they were close to being romatically involved. So, I let them become romatically involved; but, when her wedding with Matt was to start, they couldn't get married because Richie kept getting in they way. He wanted to accuse her of cheating (a married man, no less), but each time the cue dropped on it's own so Matt was still unaware. She and Matt couldn't get near the arch due to Richie. So, I exited and saved the game differently and had her ask Richie to leave Stella. So, she never had her full wedding; but, the bachelorette party went well.

I just looked at my reply and I guess I needed to word it differently. The groom called to set up the wedding and there weren't any of the bride's friends on the list. Maybe it was my game.
