Some Questions About Late Night..
« on: July 03, 2011, 06:27:29 PM »
Hello. So, I'm thinking of buying Late Night. The reason that I have put off buying Late Night is because of the Vampires.. I just don't like the idea that by the end of my (hopefully very long) legacy, my town will be full of vampires. But the question is, will this happen? I plan to stay in Sunset Valley (there is no way my laptop could handle Bridgeport, anyways), so will the vampire infestation actually happen? Or is really just a case of 'every game is different'?
Also, how easy is to become a celebrity? I only want one of my sims, just one, to become a celebrity and I'd really rather the others didn't as I hate the sound of the public disgrace, etc, and don't really care much for the 'perk's' such as presents, etc. as I could just use cheats to buy them for my sim, anyways. ::)
Also, the new lots, the bars and things, are not able to fit in Sunset Valley, as I know. Is there a way to get around this? I've heard you can change the size of lots or something?
And (sorry, I'm really going on and on..) if I was to change the sizes of those lots and put, say, all of the bars and clubs in my town, would that slow the game down significantly? Maybe I should just stick to one or two clubs as my laptop is really quite bad as it is, anyway?
I really only want late Night because the current plot I have thought up for my dynasty would fit in quite nicely with a LTW exclusive to LN, but even if it is just for that I don't want to buy it if it is going to mess with things.. I just want to be clear on some stuff before I ask Mum to fork out for it.   :P

Hi xFezIsAFreakx: Some people like Late Night and others don't. The vampires do seem to multiply; but too much in my opinion and I have even toyed with having my sim become one to see what it was like. And vampires do die in the game, as I have had a few die at my parties from not drinking plasma.
My sim became a 5 star celebrity in one sim week because she had completed the charisma challenges and so when she played guitar, the celebrities watching automatically became her friends. Otherwise, it can take awhile because you have to impress them.
Yes, you can choose different lot sizes. I don't play Sunset Vally, as I prefer the night life of Bridgeport (I'm a big city gal). There is a sunset valley 2.1 someone on the forum made that has bars and clubs. I can't remember where I downloaded it and so I can't link it to you. Maybe someone monitoring this thread can help.

I just got Late Night, and like you, I was worried about the vampires and celebrities. Right now I have two games set in Sunset Valley; one has 9 vampires and the other 4 that my Sims know. Your Sims probably will become celebrities, but I don't think they get involved in scandals at the 1- or 2-star level. The paparazzi do hang around your lot, but only one at a time; for me they're about as annoying as ghosts, maybe less because they don't play computer games. They also stay outside.

With regard to bars and clubs, I'd recommend only one or two of each. I've read on other threads that one problem with Bridgeport is that the clubs, etc. are always empty. If space is a problem, you can convert an empty residential lot to a commercial lot and build your own bar or club on the site. Placing the movie studio is harder, but there are a couple of areas in S.V. where you can set a 64x64 lot.

I got LN mainly for the instruments (I really missed the piano from TS2), but I'm enjoying the other features more than I expected.

Hmm.. okay, thank you Marian! Yeah, just keeping the number of bars/clubs low sounds much better. I take it if you had a sim that has maxed charisma they are very likely to be a five star celeb, then?

It also depends which town you play. Bridgeport has two 5-star celebs (Matt Hamming and Lola Belle) and two 4-star celebs (Emmy Starr and Tom Wordy) and then a bunch of 3-star, 2-star and i-star. So if you make friends with them you will quickly become a 5-star. My only issue with being a 5-star who has 40 friends is that people call her non-stop and she gets invited to every party. She gets falssely accused when turning down a party. So, she's never home. She almost gave birth at a party.

My clubs have been pretty empty when I've played the same game for a long time because many of the people die off or are too old to party. I think that's why there are a lot of vampires in Bridgeport since they live long. However, many times they can be too full for a 5-star celeb becaue people are always asking for your photo or autograph (makes it difficult to have a date).

Thank you, MoMoll..  so if I was to get Late Night in August and install it on a game I've had since the end of May (so that's around, two, maybe nearing three, generations long) and stayed in the same town (Sunset Valley) with that family, then there would be almost no vampires and celebs? And the number would stay low, or would a sudden infestation sort of thing happen? Sorry for all these questions. ::)

You'll probably get some, but I don't thinnk near the number in Bridgeport. As I don't play Sunst Valley, I'm not certain. I do know that some people in other threads have complained about too many vampires in Sunset Valley.

My plan, now that we have the Youth Potion, is to let my sims remain young and watch the vampires die off! lol!

Lol! Good idea! ;D

Well then, I reckon I'll wait till my Legacy is over and then get Late Night. Thanks for the help, MoMoll and Marian!
