HELP! Can't Clean Up Plates!

Please help! I've been playing Generations for about a week now and all of a sudden NONE of my sims can clean up the plates in the house! They can put bowls and small plates (from toy oven) in the dishwasher but not plates for some reason. They have a maid and she can't do it either, all they do is stack the dirty plates and put them on some surface (counter, table, etc) and then pick them up and put them back down. I tried getting imaginary friends to do it and same thing happens. There is nothing blocking the dishwasher or sink and neither is broken. Both parents in the household died at the same time after coming home from a free vacation and this has been happening ever since-at first I thought they might all be too depressed but even after the " 2 day grieving period" they still can't do it even though they all have really good moods. I tried moving the dishwasher to different locations and it didn't matter until I put the dishwasher outside and moved the plates outside as well.. THEN they clean up the plates, but it's super inconvenient Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!

You could just sell the plates through their inventory for §0.

I assume Sportsfan option is the only one that would work. Otherwise you could try to sell every dishwasher AND crane, go back to Live mode and back to Buy mode to buy dishwashers and cranes again.
This sometimes will force the game to remake the function again like 'oh yes, the dishwasher is to wash the dishes'.

I think Leto meant sinks.  Unless they have some very unique ways of doing dishes in Holland!   

I don't know if you've tried exiting and restarting the game, but if not, often that will fix these odd little glitches.

I just sell everything through my sims inventory because I'm too lazy to have them buy sinks. It saves time and money too.

Also try deleting the dishwasher and purchasing a new one.  Also, welcome to our Forum!

I've translated the Dutch word 'Kraan' wrong. It had a double meaning, and I obviously picked the wrong one. It should have been sinks, not cranes.

You can just drag and drop the plates into the outdoor trashcan, too. That's pretty much the only way I ever get rid of dirty dishes for my Sims.
