Motive Mobile Problems

I've had several problems with the motive mobile (MM) and wondering if there is a fix for any or all.

1) most profession and job special vehicles (fire engine, limos, cop car, etc) override the MM even if MM is set as preferred vehicle.
2) just had a game where my sim started taking taxis even with MM in inventory??  this prompted me to come here.  I can't figure anything that would have caused the switch, no promotions or skill maxes or anything since she last took the MM.  The only thing that she did differently was use a harvester (wish) which also increased the number of items in her inventory??  Even if I click on the MM to move around she still hails a cab.

If anyone knows of a way to allow my sims to use the MM again, please let me know

Just asking, but does your Sim have children? I've found that if my Sim is holding a child, they won't use the motive mobile.

All i can think of is do you have a parking space at your house? Try buying one and placing the motive mobile on the parking space.

I did not have kids in either scenario.

I found that resetsim did solve the issue with the sim that was taking a taxi instead of the MM.  I still have no clue what caused her to stop using it or why she couldn't select it as a vehicle to use for transport.

I did try placing parking spots for the sims with the profession cars and I couldn't find a way to use the motive mobile for any of those sims.  I have not found any way to use the MM once you get the profession car reward (except maybe selling/deleting that reward).  OOH idea, maybe if I tried putting the profession car in the Family Inventory on the buy page the sim wouldn't be able to use it???  I'll have try that when I have time.

I'm resurrecting this topic to share useful information.

I had a firefighter with a Motive Mobile, and it seemed like no matter what I did, once she got the fire engine, she used that instead of the Motive Mobile, even if the fire engine was in family inventory! The thought occurred to me that if I traveled and got a treasure chest, maybe I could put the fire engine in the chest - but just traveling was enough to do the trick. Even though both vehicles ended up in my sim's inventory when she got to France (because she drove the fire engine to the airport, of course), she started using the Motive Mobile (which I had set as her preferred vehicle) to drive around France, and kept using it once she got back.

This makes me wonder if just switching households and switching back immediately would have been enough to do the trick, since traveling isn't always an option.

ETA: And she switched back to the fire truck after the first fire she responded to. Boo. Never mind, I guess.

That's funny Cathyknits, because I've also been playing with a similar firefighter lately ;-) My solution was to have him quit his job & get rid of the overpowered truck. But I admit it's really very annoying.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out the community is having a rash of motive-mobile-driving firefighters at the moment.

I sold the truck and now she drives a fire truck (pulled out of the ether, apparently) to and from fires, and other than that it's all good.

However, did someone has the ways to solve the problem of riding on Limos instead of Preferred Vehicle? My Sims rode on Limos occasionally even in travelling with Preferred Vehicle in her inventory.

I think limos have a higher priority than the Sim's preferred vehicle.  If they have a limo at their disposal, they'll likely use it.
