How to use fog emitter?

So I placed it on the lot and then tried to change the effects on all three modes. I have testingcheats on.
How do I make it do effects?

Press ctrl+shift and click on it. A pop up will come with something written on it.
Write fireflies, and turn it to night. It looks so pretty.  ::) Try looking up online more codes though.
