Celebrity status and tips
« on: October 13, 2011, 12:20:56 AM »
Ok, so I've gone back to playing my sims for a little while, rather than building, and I wanted to make a supermax skills sim. The only trouble is, that as soon as my sim achieved celebrity status (from a guitar opportunity) she no longer recieves any tips! Sims don't even listen anymore! Does anyone know if there is a way around this problem? Also, do the band gigs count towards the skill challenge?

Play for tips in the subway. That might work.

I'm in SV. I've been avoiding celebrity stuff as best I can, but it's nigh on impossible. I have to be very careful who's watching when I'm playing for tips, otherwise my relationship status could move up to friends with a celeb - and you know what that would mean. I occasionally (like once a sim day) get a tip by starting a jam session - but it's not often.

An interesting note on jam sessions though: my sim's social bar is going up, even though no one is around.

My sim made a fortune her first day in town; but she also became a 3 star celeb at the same time. Then the next day not much tip money. So in SV, without subways, you're going to have a hard time. The Townies prefer to watch someone without any guitar skills, than one whose at level 10! They must be tone deaf.

I also stopped receiving tips from playing at normal locations at that point. At least the $1600 per hour from subways still works.

Play for tips in the subway. That might work.

I'm in SV.

A quick and easy fix for that:

Go into edit town, and drop a very small lot somewhere.  It doesn't matter where, so long as it's on level ground and close to your Sim's home for convenience.  10x10 will be plenty big enough, and there will be no shortage of room to drop one of those.  Once it's been made, change the lot to a community lot and go into build mode.  Locate the subway object and place it on the lot.  Done!

I don't remember where it is, exactly, but I'm relatively certain it's under "Community Objects" in the build menu.  However, if it's not there, it should be in the buydebug menu under "Misc" (the 3 dots in a triangle pattern).

You only need one since you're only using it to play for tips, and not traveling.
