Creating clothes

I hate most of the clothes in the sims they are so old fashioned.  Is there a program I can purchase so I can create my own clothes?

There isn't an official program for making clothes in The Sims 3, so I'm afraid that would involve creating third-party Custom Content (CC). We don't endorse CC on this forum because it sometimes carries bugs and viruses, so if you want to find CC you'll need to do it elsewhere.

I just want to add that you can get more clothing options from EPs and SPs as well as from the sims store.
Furthermore, you can download patterns to put on clothes from the game in the swap shop here.
