How to delete a non-sellable item?

This duck food appeared out of nowhere once when my sims went to the fridge. I do not have the Pets expansion pack. I cannot click the food, eat it, sell it, or move it to any inventory. My sims often try to clean it up and get stuck, complaining they cannot move. The only thing I can do is move it around in buy mode. How can I get rid of this?

Open the console (ctrl+shift+c), type in testingcheatsenabled true, then while holding Shift, click the object. Of the options that come up, seek "Object...", click it, and then click "Delete".
