Other Ways to put Pets Up for Adoption
« on: November 06, 2011, 01:50:45 AM »
I know that we can use the cell phone to call for our pets to be put up for adoption.  But is there a way to get townspeople to come to my house to adopt the kittens?  I see this happening in the paper with various families around town, but how do I do it?

I've only seen the option to put pet up for adoption and the shelter person comes (you can do this through the computer as well).

I have had very little experience with adopting pets, but when I have, I looked in the paper and it said so and so has horses for adoption and that I should go pay them a visit. Maybe it's part of story progression to move excess pets out of townies homes and as such, it might not be something we as players have the option to do. We can adopt from the townies but not to them. Or maybe we are just missing something lol

I looked to see if it was possible via the Mobile but I couldn't see anything. I'd just got a full household with some Kittens which I didn't want to keep but I didn't want to put them into the Shelter because I wouldn't in Real Life, I'd find a proper home for them.

Perhaps you can split up the household in Edit Town and move the animals to other households that way?

I just looked through the prima book and there's no mention of townie adopting so that's no help, sorry. [not even of adopting from townies]

I got a pop-up sign that said so and so has a litter of kittens, won't you come by to see them or something along that line.  I haven't been back to that game to go to the house but I think it's the adoption center for the town.  It's too bad there's no way for our sim's house to become the adoption center...that would be fun. :)

When you get the notice that someone has a litter of kittens, it's someone in town, not the adoption center.

I think the Edit Town is a good idea, as long as it's not a challenge game.

Yeah the Edit Town thing is a great way.

Also, I've sold horses at the Equestrian Center, then switched Households, and had the neighbors buy the horse, then switched back. It's possible it could work the same for Adoptions.

It'll only work if you have an extra Sim adult to escort them. Think of it like when you adopt a pet from the shelter and the shelter NPC brings the pet over to you.
Go to Edit Town, split up the kitten with a sim, move them both to a new home. Then, edit town again to move the sim back in.

You could also create your own 'pet seller' sim.  Keep it in your library.  When you're ready to move a pet, go into edit town, merge the pet seller adult sim into your house (requires you to have a spot available to add an adult).  While still in edit town, split out the pet seller and the pet you're moving.  Merge them to the pet's new home.  Split the pet seller out of that house and delete them from the clipboard.  Then hit Return to Game.  You've basically made your own npc. :)
